There's a style survey offered at sign-up, where you can tell Redbird Vintage Box what you like and dislike. I was really excited to try this subscription because I too am a lover of fashion and vintage but do not enjoy the thrill of the hunt. So, the idea of receiving a personalized box of vintage finds sounded very intriguing!
My first box included this personalized typed letter outlining some of the preferences I mentioned in my survey. I am really impressed by all the references to the survey and level of detail in this letter! They also included a business card noting where Redbird Vintage Box can be found on social media.
Black Polyester Maxi Dress
The two most important preferences conveyed to Redbird Vintage Box is that I prefer neutral colored clothing and the 1960s and 1970s decades. This maxi dress encompasses all of that! When I took this dress out of the box, I wasn't sure if I'd like it; it's 100% polyester and not exactly breathable. However it fits like a glove and very comfortable on.
I absolutely love the ruffle details and envision myself wearing this to my next springtime or early fall outdoor wedding or daytime party!
Silver & Crystal Brooch
I also received this round silver and crystal brooch. It's approximately 2" in diameter and provides just the right amount of bling. It's not a piece I'll reach for often, but do like how it accents the maxi dress I received. Here's a closer look:
Retro Necklace
The rest of the jewelry I received was packaged in this beautiful burlap and lace pouch. This necklace is cool. I am not able to tell what kind of stone the pendant is, but it's a beautiful mix of amber and purple tones. The chain is a quality mix of silver geometric shapes and links...and is extremely long. 62" long!
I definitely need to double the chain for the pendant to hang at a nice length. In my letter, Karen mentions this is a unique piece, created from a couple other repurposed vintage components. That makes me appreciate this item even more.
Bags by Varon Purse - Value $50 (based on similar styles)
I really like the patterns and coloring in this snakeskin purse! And by the looks of it, the Varon brand can be easily found Etsy. This is definitely the kind of subtle-yet-statment accessory I reach for when completing an outfit.
Ornate Stone Ring
When I filled out the style survey, I expressed how I've been searching for an authentic mood ring. And while this is not that, I love that they included this ring! It is large and striking but not overwhelming. The band is not adjustable but easily fit on my forefinger and middle finger.
Here's a closer look at the purse and ring. I like how the metals and colors compliment each other.
And here's a complete boho-inspired outfit incorporating the necklace, ring and purse, which I will prefer to wear as a clutch.
Verdict: I liked my first Redbird Vintage Box. I am most impressed by the level of detail and attention put into the curation and discovered new pieces that I will happily incorporate into my wardrobe. Valuing vintage is subjective and while I can't quantify each individual item, I feel I received a nice mix of authentic vintage pieces with values that likely break even with the cost of the box. But I really do feel a lot of value comes into play with the personalization, nostalgia, and for me, convenience of each box.
