Opening this box was so much fun for my daughter. The box itself has designs inside, perfect for coloring. There was a welcome booklet personalized with simple directions for returning unwanted items. Each box comes with a price sheet listing each item of clothing and price. Unlike some other styling services Rockets of Awesome designs and manufactures an independent line of clothing (sizing available in 2-14).
Stripe Ruffle-Hem Top – Value $24
This shirt is fabulous. My daughter loved the fit and design. It was soft cotton with a bit of stretch and then a contrasting ruffle hem that added length making it perfect for leggings or skinny jeans.
Window Pane Leggings - Value $16.00
Heart Leggings - Value $16.00
Essential Leggings - Value $14.00
All three leggings were unfortunately too small for my daughter. I squeezed her into them for the review and she couldn’t wait to take them off. They were so tight around her waist. Once Rockets of Awesome gets their online shop open I would be able to reorder anything that didn’t fit in a larger size which will be very helpful. For now, though we just had to send them all back. My daughter loved the navy blue leggings with the shimmery blue hearts the most.
Solid Swing Top - Value $22.00
We liked this pink top. It fit well, was soft and a pretty shade of pink. I just felt the price was high for a plain pink t-shirt.
Leopard Crew - Value $22.00
This blue pattern appeared twice in our box (the dress is shown later in this review) and I like it. However this long sleeve shirt was also too small for my daughter. It was much thicker than a regular shirt, more of a sweatshirt actually. It was structured and fitted but tight across her shoulders and just hitting her wrists. If this had been larger we have kept it.
Smocked Skirt - Value $22.00
I loved this skirt! So well made and had the perfect amount of flounce. It fit perfectly and paired well with numerous items in the box (I feel like Rockets of Awesome does a great job giving coherent looks in their boxes so there are many items that can be mixed and matched).
Glitter Awesome Tee - Value $18.00
What a cute sparkly shirt! It was soft light-weight cotton, but a little small on my daughter. She is tall for her age and this one already was looking a bit short on her.
Sparkle Tulle Dress - Value $34.00
This was our favorite item in the box. The dress fit perfectly and will last through the next season or two. My daughter fell in love with it instantly. It had a casual gray sweatshirt like top with a sparkly pink tulle bottom. I liked the mix of fabrics and how the top kept it from feeling too formal, while the skirt made it feel special. This can be worn casually with tights and high-tops or dressed up with ballet flats.
Long-Sleeve Pocket Tee - Value $18.00
This long-sleeve t-shirt had a nice hi-lo hem which I liked. However this one was also a bit tight on my daughter and the sleeves *just* fit. I know in another month she would have outgrown it so this too went back.
Puffy Bow Headband - Value $15.00
What a fun headband! It reminds me of Minnie Mouse and yet is so modern and futuristic with the shiny silver. I can’t say I’ve ever seen a bow headband like this anywhere!
Drop Waist Dress - Value $36.00
This dress is beautifully made. I loved the pop of neon yellow at the waist tie. It fit my daughter well and she loved it too.
Here’s my daughter in the drop waist dress. So pretty!
This is the leopard crew and essential gray leggings.
This is the glitter tee and window pane leggings. These leggings are adorable; I wish they had fit!
Here she is modeling the heart leggings and solid pink swing top. Loves being on tip-toes for photos!
This outfit is the smocked skirt, puffy bow headband and long-sleeve pocket tee.
Here she is wearing the striped ruffle-hem shirt and the heart leggings (I know they look black in the photo, but they are navy with hearts, sorry about that!)
My daughter in her favorite item: the sparkle tulle dress. Just giving you all some side-eye….
Verdict: We had a lot of fun unpacking and modeling our first Rockets of Awesome box. Rockets of Awesome sends boxes four times a year, but you can skip a box if you prefer to get them less frequently. Shipping back the items we didn’t keep was easy with their pre-paid return label. Based on the colors I had mentioned my daughter likes when I initially signed up and the kinds of clothing she wears (girly, sparkly, and fun). I felt they sent us items that were a perfect match. Everything seemed very well made too. While this box wasn’t a complete hit for us due to some sizing issues I’m excited to adjust that and see what they send next season.
What do you think of Rockets of Awesome? Have you tried it yet?
