C’mon allure! Please come back out with 2017 boxes. I know I pitched a fit last year and sent angry emails. I paid upfront and you were selling the box for half of what I paid discount. I’ve been buying these for 5+ years and will miss them 🙁. Even if they suck as the years go on. I have memories of rushing to my computer and exactly at 12:01, hitting refresh 100x. And the excitement of snagging a box before the ‘sold out’ banner appeared 10 min later. The giant box of goodies waiting on my doorstep. Yes, the boxes have gone mostly drugstore and more dissapointing, but I’m on my last toothbrush! Pleeeease. 🙁

Sorry to say, but selection of the products is not the best. I am surprised that Allure put this together as a special box.

I wonder if Allure is going to continue with this box? Usually they have one around this time. I tried clicking on the old link above and it takes you to the regular monthly Allure beauty box.

I wondered the same thing. There were so many problems last year with those that paid for a subscription (I was one) at a premium cost and then Allure reducing the price of the boxes to get rid of the leftovers. And it seemed that many didn’t feel the boxes were worth while which is why they had so many leftover. I wasn’t going to pre-pay this year but was looking forward to buying those boxes that did appeal to me but I fear they may not do Beauty Thrills anymore.

I received my December box on 12/24/16 and the tracking email today! Way to go Allure!

I just noticed that both of the fake nail products include coupons in the packages that expire 12/31/16. I’m not planning to use the coupons but kind of tacky to have such short dated coupons.

Reply ButtonReply

I am sure Allure got a deal because the vendor needed to unload them due to the coupon expiration date. I actually had that happen with a few of my wins on the now defunct Allure free stuff giveaways. just one more reason to pass the next time this is offered. sigh

These boxes used to be amazing! I’ve been buying them for 8 years–only skipped two I think. They are going downhill. Kind of sad. I’ve also subscribed to Allure magazine for years but when my subscription expires I won’t renew. Just not the same.

Mary Ann

I received my box today. It is 1/3 the size of the usual box and the item that we didn’t know about is a fingernail file. I am so upset I spent so much money on this…

Katherine

I received mine today. No tracking, just showed up. I guess I should be happy it did make it to me, but after seeing it in person I would have been more THRILLED if they would have cancelled and given me my $$$ back. This has to be the worst box of the three from them. I so regret that I pre purchased. No more Allure boxes for me. 🙁

I received mine today. TINY. no tracking EMAIL FROM THE USPS

a few decent products…the unwash cleansing conditioner, the Rand the Dessange, the wen body cream must have an overstated value

I feel ripped off and the tardiness makes me even more frustrated.

UGH… THE REDKEN…SORRY FOR THE TYPO

wordsone

crap. is it even smaller that the spring and august boxes? no notice from usps for me or my sister.

Reply ButtonReply

Phoebe

Did you receive a tracking email? I haven’t gotten anything from Allure. Was it sent from Bensenville Illinois? I did receive notice from the PO that I’m getting a package tomorrow but not sure it if is the Allure Beauty Thrills.

Reply ButtonReply

Phoebe

I received mine today. Never got tracking from Allure. Definitely not a great box but I am happy with the Wen body cream. And anxious to try the Un-Wash cleanser and the Glove makeup remover. Allure really should have substituted a product for the Dermasilk or given us a partial refund. And not happy with the cheapo Chapstick and 2 fake nail products.

Mary Ann

I never received a tracking email. The return address on my box is from Iowa but maybe the boxes went to Illinois?? I have not received tracking emails on any of the Allure Beauty Thrills boxes (I preordered all 3).

Paula Leddy

I also got a USPS notification of a shipment from Bensenville Illinois. I have not received an email with tracking from Allure but then again I did not get one for the August box either. Hopefully we will both be getting our boxes tomorrow.

Dawn

I received mine today too. I feel the same way. I especially feel ripped off by pre-paying. Never again Allure Beauty Thrills, never again. 🙁

After a couple of unsuccessful phone calls resulting in no definitive information I emailed Allure and this is the response that I got which was equally unhelpful:

If we can be of further assistance, please let us know. To ensure your future concerns are handled in a timely fashion, please include all previous e-mail correspondence.

Just so you don’t get too excited, I was told that they were preparing for shipment about 2 weeks ago. I have since received multiple stories., from The Warehouse is Backed Up to We are Waiting on an Item Before we can Ship. I was originally told that they guaranteed delivery by Christmas. That definitely isn’t happening, nor are they reaching out to anyone to give them a heads up. If they would have at the very least sent an email letting us all know about a delay, then I wouldn’t be so darn upset.

Thanks for the updates ladies. I was thinking that my box was stolen or dropped off at another house. USPS is not as dependable these days. What I will say is, I used to look forward to this box and like many others pre-paid for a year of boxes. The items aren’t as impressive, I am tired of the Arm and Hammer toothpaste/toothbrush combo. Wen ok $80, but everything else is Blah… Already got a lot of this I other boxes, orders, for Christmas. Oh well another box bites the dust. Merry Christmas to All and to All we’ll just keep waiting….

i’d feel better about the WEN if there wasn’t a class action suit against them. the product was making women lose their hair and they are suing . I have tried this before and i don’t lose my hair, it just make it look stringy. I am sure WEN was thrilled to participate

Has anyone at all received tracking information or an email regarding the delay of the December box? This is getting ridiculous. Are they even going to send it out? Some people have been told the warehouse is backed up; okay, then stop selling the box and catch up. Then others are being told that they are waiting on an item before they can ship the box out. Send the box now, send the missing item later. Others arent being told ANYTHING. Allure needs to get it together. 7-10 Business days?? The sale began the 29th of November… The least Allure could do, is to send an email to everyone letting us know the status of the box and its expected shipment date.

I have not received any type of communication from Allure. However, I did call last Monday to inquire abut the shipment date. I was told the warehouse is backed up. I asked if the boxes would be delivered by Christmas, because I had called BEFORE I even ordered and they confirmed then that they would be delivered by then, and the lady stated that she HOPES they will be but refused to give me an ETA. I agree that it is very frustrating. Allure needs needs to step their game up if they want to keep customers.

Reply ButtonReply

JuliaGulia

So, I called Allure again. I stated that I had general questions and didnt give my account information. I asked how long it would take to receive the box if I ordered today. She stated that it would take a minimum of 3 weeks for the box to even be ready to ship, then an additional 7-10 days for it to be delivered. I explained that on the Allure Beauty Thrills ordering page, that it actually states that the item will SHIP out with 7-10 days of ordering, so why are they stating something different? She told me I was reading it incorrectly and placed me on hold to check. She then came back on the line and said that it was an error on the page and again stated that it will takes at least 3 weeks to even ship out. She then also told me that there is a delay in shipping the box period, but refused to say why. She said that all she was allowed to say was that there is a delay with the box being ready to ship and that she was not allowed to tell me why. She then said that there wasn’t even a guarantee that the box would be ready to ship in 3 weeks, that it could take much longer and again she couldnt give an ETA. How messed up is that? I asked if they were sending out notifications to the people who have subscribed or if they are going to make people aware of situation before they ordered, but she stated that they had no plans to at this time. Pretty darn deceptive if you ask me….

Erika

Has anyone received a shipping notification for the December box? I also bought the August box and I received the August notification and received the box yesterday but no sign of December.

Reply ButtonReply

JuliaGulia

I called and was told that the warehouse is backed up. Supposedly they didn’t expect so many orders and are having a hard time catching up. They wont give an ETA either. I was only told that they are HOPING to have them arrive to everyone by Christmas. I was really hoping to have both boxes before Christmas. Why aren’t they contacting everyone who ordered to let them know there is a delay? The website states that it should have shipped out with 7-10 business days. Its already past that and they still aren’t ready to be shipped. How weird.

Reply ButtonReply

ME

They said the same thing with the last box. I pre-ordered all 3 and this year not only are the products that much worse but the shipping has been ridiculous.

JuliaGulia

Liz,
Is it possible for you to reach out to Allure and see if you can get a more definite answer? Seems like everyone is getting a different answer.
Thank you.

Paula Leddy

I’m in the same boat as you. I ordered both and got my August box a week ago but have no information about the December box. I called customer service and they were no help either. They told me I would get an email with tracking when December shipped but I never got that information when the August one shipped.

Reply ButtonReply

Phoebe

No info on December box yet. I rec’d the August box a few days ago. Usually the current box takes about a month to receive. I think Allure may get discounted shipping when they have more boxes to send at one time?

Reply ButtonReply

Kristin

Can’t help but to feel completely scammed this year. I paid a premium to pre-order and they ended up discounting the first 2 boxes for everyone that didn’t?! Never making that mistake again…

Reply ButtonReply

Phoebe

I bought the pre-order the first year they did it. Never again! Most companies discount for multiple orders instead of charging a premium.

Reply ButtonReply

LisaJean2

Oh I know..me neither!

Reply ButtonReply

Leslie Annunziata

Me neither. What a waste.

Lisa

Does anyone have any idea when these are shipping out?

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

So I called and they said the Winter box is delayed. They are waiting for one item. The customer service rep did not have information as to when it will ship.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

I was just wondering the same thing. It should have shipped by now.

Reply ButtonReply

Phoebe

I just noticed that the add-on August box is now $34.99 instead of $24.99! So they must be running low on the August box?

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

Press on nails and chap stick??? I’m on the verge of cancelling my Allure sub. If the Dec box isn’t great i”m done.

Reply ButtonReply

Goldie007

I am not pleased with this box! Press on nails is the last straw for me. Because I pre-purchased the boxes this year, I have to take this one to complete my purchase. However, the quantity and quality of the items has decline steeply.

In 2017, I am definitely going to look before I leap into a purchase.

Reply ButtonReply

ColleenT.

I had prepaid as well and when I saw the August box spoilers, I asked them to refund me for the next 2 boxes. It took several emails, but eventually they did mail me a check.
Yes, I am not so happy about this box and honestly I am glad I asked for a refund,. The $20 premium for this is unfounded. They used to be so good and now they just s+ck.

Reply ButtonReply

Karen

It is crazy that Allure charged a premium for boxes they ultimately ended up discounting (never mind the fact that you had to pay that full price plus premium charge in full UP FRONT!).

These boxes have certainly declined over time. I recall when the boxes used to include close to $400 worth of high end products, now they are down to $250 of mostly random, but repeated, drug store items. Charging a premium made sense when the boxes were utterly amazing and would sell out instantly, but not anymore. Most companies offer a discount for prepaying a subscription, so I don’t see how Allure can rationalize charging a premium at this stage. At a minimum, I would think subscribers could argue to get a refund for the premium paid. The whole point of the premium was to ensure getting a box. But none of the last three boxes have sold out at full price, so you’re essentially paying Allure for the priveledge of having them take more of your money all at once upfront. It makes no sense.

That being said, at more than 75% off, this box is still a great deal. Unfortunately Allure set a precedent by historically offering boxes with even better values and higher quality products so it’s hard not to be at least a little disappointed with the last few boxes. But if you can just wipe your memory of the “good old days” of Allure Thrills and just focus on this box on it’s own, it is still a great value and has a lot of useful, albeit not terribly exciting, items (and the August box at $25 is a ridiculously good deal!!). I did end up buying it (but mostly because of the August add-on), and I’m sure it will make me smile when the boxes arrive. I’ll just try to do my best to bury the memory of the good old Allure Thrills days or else I’ll end up sounding like my grandmother when she reminisces about the good old days when candy was a nickel. Ahhh, remember when…. 🙂

Laura Diniwilk

Wait, what the what? This box was already SO LIGHT on products and now they cut one out? I hope we get a replacement product of similar value because I definitely counted that product in my “would I use enough of this to justify the purchase” math. This was the most on the fence I have been about this box ever and that might have tipped me to a no.

Reply ButtonReply

molly

Any chance the spring box can be added too for $25 each….I might bite at the option of getting all 3 if 2 are discounted

Reply ButtonReply

SBR

I would love to know the answer to that question….

Reply ButtonReply

Terri

They will not let me add the Aug box to my Dec subscription. I am so glad this is my last box. They are not loyal to their subscription customers. Live and learn.

Renee

nope, not gonna do it!

Reply ButtonReply

Jenn

Agh. This box is pretty bad but I do like the August box. This could have been so much better with just a couple of different items. Two press on nails – really? Cmon.

Reply ButtonReply

Mari

And now the August box is $35 instead of $25 like it was yesterday!

Reply ButtonReply

SBR

Well, that makes my decision for me…

Mattie

Sorry Allure you’re a day late and I’m a dollar short….All my money was thrown at PSMH & Happy Rebel 🤑

Reply ButtonReply

Karen

Ha! So true! That’s actually a good tip for retailers…releasing anything a day or two after the Black Friday/Cyber Monday extravaganza likely won’t yield nearly as many sales if they had put whatever they are selling on the market a few days earlier. I feel sooooo financially stretched right now, something has to really knock my socks off for me to pull the trigger. Sorry Allure…I’m tapped out!! 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Karen

Omg…what is wrong with me???? I talked such a big game in my last post that I was tapped out financially, then I read that you could get the August box as an add-on for $25 and I CAVED!!! (I love the Redken product in that box and that costs more than the whole box!!). So $85 dollars later I have a boatload of new products headed my way that I will add to my totally overflowing unused product stash! Ugh. I need help! (At least I know some of my fellow MSAers are right there with me!!) 🙂

Barbie

Grabbed one. Didn’t take advantage of the Aug add on box.

Sorry to see that 5 min face mask is no longer included. 🙁 Still for me this box is total win.

Reply ButtonReply

Erika

They are also offering the August box at half price as well.
