Nerdy Post is a monthly celebration of your favorite fandoms from TV, movies, and books. Every month, you'll get 5-7 handcrafted items centered around a different monthly fandom.

Everything you get in Nerdy Post is handmade by Alexis, Nerdy Post's creator. Here's what their site says:

"...we wanted to provide unique, high-quality designs that you wouldn't find anywhere else. Hand lettering and illustrating these designs means that nothing is created using fonts or stock images from a computer. Designs are of course digitized in order to be printed on the products, but they will retain their hand-crafted quality."

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This month's theme is the super popular book-series-turned-TV-show, Outlander! Alexis, the founder, includes this note about the items she created and why. I was a little bit bummed about the theme, just because (full disclosure!) I've never read nor seen this series. I know, I know! I won't be able to speak to these items as a fan, but I think, since this sort of situation is bound to happen with fandom boxes (receiving a theme that doesn't fit your tastes), I'll be able to give these items a fair review!

On the back of this card, there are instructions for flattening your print. Usually, Nerdy Post comes in a tube, and everything is rolled up inside. This month, everything came in a box (dum, dum, DAH!), but the poster was still rolled up. I appreciate the tips, and I really appreciate how cute the little infographic is!

Speaking of which, Alexis includes a handwritten letter all about the packaging change! The tube had become such a big part of this company's identity that I suppose the switch to boxes was a big deal. I like that the letter seeks to reassure recipients about the cost-effectiveness of the shake-up—it shows that Nerdy Post cares about the value they provide to their customers.

Jamie Quote Poster

Wow, how romantic! I love the elegant swoops and swirls of this quote, and how a photo of the Scottish hillside peeks through the letters. I've heard that Outlander described as a time-travel romance, and quotes like these definitely affirm that description. Even though I don't know the series, I can appreciate the poetry of this poster.

Coloring Postcard & Blood Vow Print

Nerdy Post includes a cool coloring-book-style postcard in every box. They always capture different themes from the featured fandom. I don't know too much about Outlander, but I do know that it takes place in Scotland, so these thistles, intricate knots, and plaid patterns make perfect sense. The postcard is matte paper, so it's friendly for crayons, markers, and colored pencils alike.

The print is the same size as the postcard, but it's on a glossier cardstock. I really love Alexis's lettering style—she packs an entire wedding vow neatly into a small space while remaining legible, fresh, and really really pretty.

Jamie Character Bookmark by Shari Scribbles - Value $2.67

Shari Scribbles, who has an Etsy shop of these adorable bookmarks, made this character bookmark especially for this box. Apparently, it's random who gets Claire and who gets Jamie, but looking at the Shari Scribbles site, both are equally cute.

There's a magnet on either side of this two-sided bookmark—you just fold it over the page or pages you want to mark, then let the magnets sandwich themselves around the pages. How cool!

"Je Suis Prest" Pin by Lapel Yeah - Value $10.00?

This pin was designed for Nerdy Post. It features Jamie's family motto, which translates to "I am ready".

The pin has two tacks on the back, rather than just one—it's a nice touch that helps this heavier metal pin sit upright and flush with your lapel. (Or pocket or backpack, etc)

I wasn't expecting something this high quality, but it's a really nice enamel pin!

Sassenach Sticker

This sticker echoes the same swirling script featured elsewhere in the box, which I love. It helps create a feeling of consistency. The paper has a slight gloss to it, which looks really nice. Overall, it's a pretty sophisticated sticker. I could see fans sticking this to my bike helmet or bumper as a subtle nod to the fandom they love.

Two-Sided Quote Bookmark

Quotes, and more quotes! This bookmark features two. The first is from Jamie. I feel like the quote evokes a more romantic feeling than the design conveys, but there's been a lot of romance in the box thus far, so this is a refreshing departure!

Read our review of the October 2016 Nerdy Post!

I did a little research on this quote, and it comes from a rather... er... mature scene. Not dissing it, just didn't expect it! Now I realize that this isn't just a romantic story—it's a full-blown romance novel!

Given the mood of the source material, the warm hues of this side of the bookmark seem to make sense. It's a little more sensual than the others. I feel like this bookmark is begging to be used in a guilty pleasure read!

Verdict: Even though I didn't know the fandom, I think what Nerdy Post put together for this month is awesome! The box is only $13.95 a month, and I feel like you get so much exclusive, beautifully made stuff! The two items from outside vendors are about $13.00 on their own, so the value seems more than fair. You can really tell that Alexis cares so much about what she creates for her customers. I may not be a fan of Outlander yet, but I sure am a fan of Nerdy Post!

What a great box! I didn’t sub in time to get this one, but just got the classic novels box and love it! If anyone puts their pin up for swap, I’d definitely be interested. I just bought an Outlander coat from Torrid that it would look amazing on!
