FYI – Beauty DNA No Longer Accepting New Subscriptions
BeautyDNA is no longer accepting new subscriptions. For now, current subscribers will continue to receive their monthly boxes. (Thank you, Kristina, for the heads up about this.)
Beauty DNA is a new beauty subscription service that gives you extreme customization in discovering new beauty products each month. You fill out a very in-depth survey specifying your preferences for skincare, body products and hair products, and you will receive one new full-size product each month... read more.

Has anyone heard anything from BeautyDNA lately? I’ve been a subscriber since it began and never really had any problems except for one product that was rancid (they replaced it). However, I didn’t get a January 2018 product or a January 2018 charge for the service. I’ve tried “Googling” with no results. The original web site just comes up blank and the phone number for BeautyDNA customer service on the SANDOW web site was disconnected. I’ll be so sad if they stopped the service without even telling me.

I have not received products since October 2016. I haven’t been charged either. If they have changed platforms, a “heads up”would have been nice.
I looked forward to my monthly box. It’s truly disappointing that that they ceased their services without notification to their customers.

UPDATE: I opened my last BeautyDNA box received in late December. It was lost in the holiday shuffle. The box contained a note saying that December 2018 was the last month for the Beauty DNA service. I’m still sad about this. It was my favorite service to discover different quality products in full sizes.

I have been waiting to hear some kind of news. I loved Beauty DNA! I miss it terribly. They were supposed to launch some new innovative program in early 2017. I know when they stopped accepting new subscriptions I tried to reactivate mine and I couldn’t. I was going to email them about their new innovative program but every time I search for their site it’s just gone. I can’t find a thing.

I’m so sad that BeautyDNA crapped out! They were one of my favorite subs, so I bought a year subscription last summer. My last shipment was last September. Ugh more than half a year left on my subscription and I haven’t seen anything since then. No replies from CS, other than the auto generated one. SOO SAD!!!

I would keep emailing them and adjust the selection of products you are interested in. I finally got them to start sending stuff. When I got replies they would say they had being emailing all along, which was a lie. Try calling the credit card company and see if they can help.

I just received my “January” match yesterday, lol. It was a $26 product (price from manufacturer website, but sold less elsewhere). As far as I remember, they are supposed to send an item at least the double of monthly cost. I believe they used to put another product if the main product doesn’t meet the price point. Looks like my February match is shipping soon (exactly $50 product), but no tracking yet, just showing the product image on my beauty cabinet. I am not sure what’s going on with them, but they might have issued too many Gilt type vouchers. I had a month skipped last year, without any email or anything. When I contacted customer service, I was told that my profile was too narrow of a window. I had it specifically targeted my anti-aging concerns and a few others. My response to them was that there are sooooo many brands in the world and why are you saying there is no match? I see tons of products images on your website, but I have yet to receive any of the featured brands. I will update what the CS says about my January product.

I LOVED this subscription. I never had any problems really and mostly ended up with things I used. Liz are you able to get any news from new beauty?

Just an update…
BeautyDNA is still not responding to any of my emails. So hard to believe that they would ignore customers! I log on once in a while to my account to watch for changes. I noticed last week that they had decreased the amount of shipments left in my prepaid plan, even though they hadn’t sent anything out to me. Of course, they’ve ignored my emails about this issue also. I logged into my account today and now see that they had changed my status to canceled! I was able to change it to active but it doesn’t show the 5 months that I have left on my prepaid plan. It shows none! I just want what I’ve paid for and after that I will leave and never look back. No communication with active customers is unacceptable!

I am so glad to see I’m not the only one! I’m not glad for all of our frustrations though! I think the email issue is on their end because I can’t see all of us getting supposed replies from them and none of us actually getting them. I got that same b.s. response. In fact, at one point the customer service rep seemed to be scolding me!! I have one more month(thru Gilt City) that I have been expecting for about 2 months now. When I go into my account it just shows that my next shipment will be tomorrow…but it says that every day! I too haven’t heard from customer service. Not quite sure what to do at this point?!

I emailed them on 12/6 re: the fact that I haven’t received a product since October. (I have 3 boxes left from the Gilt promo; my account page states I should have gotten a shipment on 11/21, but that never happened.) On 12/9 I got an email response from Amy in CS, telling me they’d look into it and get back to me soon. I’ve heard nothing since. Using what got Chris success, I just posted a comment on their FB page, and messaged them through FB. Just in case they try to pull the BS they pulled on you, Blondie (deleting the remaining prepaids from your account), I just took a screenshot of my account page, with the date/timestamp from my computer, so I’ll have some proof if they try to change my account page. Sadly, I’m not sure any of this will help…I’m not holding my breath. It seems scarily reminiscent of the whole LaRitzy fiasco…what a scam that was! 🙁

and an update…still no response from Beauty DNA in spite of multiple emails and FB messages. (In fact, tonight when I tried to go to their FB page I couldn’t find it…I think they’ve taken it down). And…when I went to my account, they have lowered my number of remaining prepaid shipments to 1, when it should be 3. After reading what you all had said, I took a screenshot on Dec 21 that showed remaining shipments, with last shipment 10/29; today it shows last shipment 10/29, but only 1 shipment remaining. Totally fraudulent! My 2nd account shows cancelled/ no shipments (when it also should show 3). I sent an email to Beauty DNA, with the date stamped screenshots showing the altering they’d done of my account; I’m not holding out much hope, though. I sent an email to Gilt City, and filed a dispute with Paypal for the 1 of my accounts that I paid for with Paypal. The 2nd account I paid with a credit card, and it won’t let me file online, at least…I may try calling. What a scam. 🙁 If anyone has any luck, please report back.

I finally heard back from them after I posted on facebook. I posted a comment to one of their posts and then I sent a message with facebook messenger. They claimed that they had responded to my emails, but they really hadn’t. I was told that I needed to update my profile to include more categories because they will only send 1 per category. I finally got a shipment for December after getting nothing for October and November. My amount of shipments is off now also. I haven’t gotten a reply to that yet. If you got the subscription from guilt city, I would try contacting them.

I let my Beauty DNA lapse. My profile is slightly specific, but not crazy exclusive, and I received Vitamin C serums THREE MONTHS IN A ROW. Now, I do enjoy vitamin C, but c’mon, really? Customer service never responded when I complained. Oh well…

They sent me body firming lotions/creams two months in a row. The second was rather expensive so I didn’t complain. Last time I was subscribed all they sent me was anti-acne stuff. They seem to get in ruts.

In a prior Beauty DNA post, a commenter mentioned that Beauty DNA is associated with New Beauty, which does the New Beauty magazine & New Beauty Test Tube. While I don’t know if that’s true, it made sense to me because I have received some products in my Beauty DNA sub that I’ve only seen mentioned in New Beauty magazine (and maybe on some online only skincare sites) (sorry, I can’t remember any of the brands right now). I wonder if the Beauty DNA change has anything to do with New Beauty’s change to their sub box. Since New Beauty is starting to send more & larger products in their sub without raising the price (so far), maybe they’re merging or something?
I’m also sorry to hear about everybodys hardships with Beauty DNA. I’ve been subscribed since earlier this year, and so far haven’t had any issues with my sub or products received. Fortunately, I haven’t had to contact their CS yet either. I was planning on switching my annual to a monthly sub next year (if I’ll still be able to that), so we’ll see how that goes.

I’m going to edit myself, and say that it seems obvious by the post above that Beauty DNA is associated with New Beauty, but now I’m confused…. so are they merging with New Beauty’s sub? Or is New Beauty going to be doing two subs?

I think New Beauty Test Tube will continue as is, and that Beauty DNA will turn into a digital recommendation subscription service. Still waiting for complete details, though. Hope that helps!

Ugh, I’ve been receiving my products fine but all of my emails and other attempts to contact them have been to no avail. Finally, I sent them an email requesting to cancel last week. Nothing, and this news is making me kind of… uneasy? Am I going to have to chargeback on my card at this rate? SO frustrating.

Have you gone online and checked your account? I had sent them an email to suspend for a month I was going to be gone and the only response I got was an automated we got your email, but when I looked at my account they had suspended it, and a month later I was able to just go back in and reactivate. But they never sent me an email saying it was done.

I checked Monday with no luck, but just checked again and it looks like they did cancel! Never got an email.

It sounds like they are just rebranding to get away from the tarnished reputation that they’ve gained under the Beauty DNA name. I tried a Gilt City deal for 4 months and couldn’t wait for it to be over. They sent me a moisturizer that was supposed to help redness and didn’t do anything, an algae mask that was very over-drying, and a cleanser that was okay. I can’t even remember what the 4th item was, but I swapped it without even trying it.

Same here I bought the gilt city promotion and when I reached out to CS regarding a problem they never responded to my email. I reach out to them because they sent me a body Cream for very severe dry skin. When i filled out the questionnaire i never put that i had dry skin or like creams so i don’t know why they sent it to me. Now it’s just thrown in the closet because no one i know has severe dry skin. 🙁

I used to love BeautyDNA, but agreed their customer service has sunk! I had recieved a repeat product and emailed them. Their response was “your issue has been resolved”. I emailed them back saying what’s been resolved??!! Nothing on my end! I’ve only gotten the automated response but nothing else. It’s sad because I used to say their customer service was one of the best I’d ever encountered!

TO ALL WHO HAVE HAD RECENT CS ISSUES—
We are in the same boat! There seems to be something really strange happening with their communications. I most recently had signed-up with a 2 month Gilt deal–and they only sent me a box in AUGUST!!! I have been repeatedly contacting them since that time with NO response other than auto-generated emails saying they received my email, and one time I received an email telling me simply my issue had been resolved (nothing more, nothing less). Of course I replied to that email too!
Well, I finally received an actual response from CS and a lengthy email telling me they had already responded to my inquiries multiple times–CS even forwarded the supposed “email chain” between us. Indeed that chain had responses from them on various days/times, but that was not the communication that actually arrived in my inbox. I don’t know what to make of it. I replied back explaining I had never received any of those responses (and no, they are not in spam) but have never received another reply from them…
I don’t know what to make of it, but it’s bizarre.

I bought a four month subscription through Gilt City. I received my first 3 products with absolutely no issues. Then all of a sudden the shipments just stopped. I was supposed to receive something in October and have yet to receive anything. I emailed their customer service twice and received no reply beyond the auto-response. On my third attempt (last week) I received an email back from Jennifer J. stating that they would process a match and send it with expedited shipping and that she would send my tracking number on Friday. It’s Wednesday and I have yet to receive any tracking information and nothing shows on my account. I hope this change isn’t them attempting to wipe the slate clean and start over fresh with a new subscription box. If I never receive my fourth product I will have received my money’s worth but it’s pretty crappy of them to just stop delivering pre-paid subscriptions.

I emailed again yesterday reminding Jennifer J that I had never received a tracking number. About 30 minutes ago I received a FedEx package from BeautyDNA. I even had to sign for it so I assume they overnighted it. I was excited to receive a G.M. Collin Visible Lifting Serum. (I received a different G.M. Collin serum my first month that I liked.) Then I looked at the back of the box and it expired in October. I just had to chuckle. At this point I don’t know what else to do but laugh.

That’s too crazy! I’m glad you can laugh about it tho! 🙂 Wish I could! After being burned and ignored by LaRitzy and now DNA, I’m not having much fun with sub boxes anymore. It’s sad, cause I know this is a small percentage of boxes, but I don’t have extra money to keep losing. Arg. Maybe you should email Beauty DNA back. Not sure it’d help, but they should probably have it drawn to their attention when they send out expired products.

I’m really surprised about all the issues. Jen has always been the one to help me when I’ve had questions or issues and she has always been prompt. My last shipment wasn’t my favorite but overall this is my favorite subscription. Maybe since they’ve encountered these issues they have decided to put things on hold for the time being?

My last box had one item in it with a value of $27. Usually it seems that they include a bonus item if the main product has a low value, but in this case it was just the one product. I’ve emailed twice and had no reply to either. I can’t say I would recommend them at this time, since I don’t really think it’s fair for one person to get a $27 toner and another person to get $165 Skinceuticals C E Ferulic.

This most recent time I subbed with them (just got my last shipment), I was getting low value items as well (until the end, when they sent me a cellulite cream that retailed for $80+, but only after prodding that I had not received anything). Under $40 anyway for most of the items this time around, and no bonus items. And the selections were mostly sorts of things like Paula’s Choice products that I would probably just go ahead and take the risk on anyway (especially with a sale, which PC always seems to have), not exactly exotic discoveries. I figured it was because of all the Gilt City deals cutting into their revenue.

I typically love BeautyDNA, but I had an issue too. They just never sent me a November box. I logged into my account around the 25th and it said 5 shipments remaining, next shipping on Nov 13th. So I emailed them and they did respond and said they didn’t know what that happened and would send it out right away. They finally did send something on December 6th (I haven’t gotten it yet) and my account now says 4 shipments remaining, so hopefully things will stay smooth!

I haven’t had any problems. I just got my December box today and it was a Paula’s Choice retinol 1% booster. Last month I got the Hydroxatone eye cream which I am impressed with, and in October I got an Algenist moisturizer. The first 4 months were off a Gilt deal so they were only about $15/month, but this last month it reverted to the $25/month, but I’ve been pleased with every item. I haven’t had to any contact with customer service, though.

I had a great experience with BeautyDNA. I subbed for only a few months. I filled out my profile very specifically to get skincare items. I only paused my sub so I could actually use up the full sized items and see how they worked without mixing products. Love the concept of only one hero item! I am sorry about the issues some are having. I hope New Beauty is a great concept with great customer service.

I’m so sorry to hear that as I loved BeautyDNA – last Christmas I gave away subscriptions as gifts. I’ve had skin issues lately, so I can only use prescription products at this time…if this were not the case, I would still be with BeautyDNA. I hope that you get the entire subscription you paid for 😊

Can’t say I’m surprised. I got my October month box like a week and a half into November 🙁 and the stuff is all the same brands now

Current subscribers aren’t really continuing to get their boxes. I am supposed to have 5 boxes left but never got anything for October or November. Many emails and voicemails have gone unanswered. They are horrible now.

They started going down hill months ago and by taking on so many new subscribers, think it sunk their ship. It was such a great service when it began, one of the best. I was with them from their first month but cancelled almost 8 months ago? My products were less and less expensive, with no 2nd product and customer service was slower and slower in answering. Too bad because they began as a great service.

Wow, I’m not the only one! I had a problem with my box a few months back so I emailed them and all they would respond with were emails saying “this issue has been resolved”. Which obviously it hadn’t and still hasn’t! Arg! Plus I never received a box last month. I sent more emails, all of which have been totally ignored. I’m NOT happy.
