Now, onto the items!

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask - FULL SIZE! Value $36

beauty-fix-january-2017-0008

I've sampled this hair mask before thanks to subscription boxes. (It's one of those products that's been in a lot of boxes, lately!) I love that the formula is free of ingredients I like to avoid, and after much trial and error, I've found that with my hair type, I prefer using this hair mask as a regular conditioner instead of massaging into my hair and leaving it on for 5-10 minutes. (I kept getting greasy roots with that method.)

So now, I have an indulgent conditioner that leaves my hair moisturized!

BioRewind Full Spectrum Antioxidant Serum - 3ml Value $12.50

This serum is free of parabens, phthalates, and sulfates. It is designed to fix uneven skin tone, and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It felt light on my skin, and now I wish the sample was larger!

Nick Chavez SoftFlocker Styling Cream - 2 oz Value $13

beauty-fix-january-2017-0010

This ended up being my favorite discovery in the box! It is a solid cream in the jar, and you warm it up with your fingers then apply it throughout your hair. It gave my hair volume and texture - and I give it bonus points for smelling lovely, too!

MDSolarSciences Daily Anti-Aging Moisturizer - .25 oz Value $12.50

I've sampled this line before, and the formulas are always impressive. This lightweight daily moisturizer was hydrating, lightweight, and provided SPF 30, too!

MANNA Kadar Liplocked Priming Lipstick - FULL SIZE! Value $21

beauty-fix-january-2017-0023

While I'm a bit on Manna Kadar overload thanks to subscription boxes, I can't deny that this is a great lipstick. It's a very wearable shade for me, lots of pigment, and I love the semi-matte satin finish. And it's moisturizing, too!

Here it is swatched:

Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant - 4 g Value $5.60

beauty-fix-january-2017-0021

This is a brand new product from Demalogica! It's an exfoliant that is gentle enough to use daily post-cleanser. You use about a half a teaspoon of this powder on wet hands to form a paste and use it to exfoliate your skin for about a minute then rinse. It didn't dry out or irritate my skin at all - I'm impressed.

beauty-fix-january-2017-0015

Avene Eau Thermale Thermal Spring Water - FULL SIZE! Value $14

I use water mists every day, so I'm always happy to get more in a subscription box! They are great for a quick refresh any time, and you can spray them over makeup, too. (Also great for hydrating skin after airplane travel.)

Verdict: This box has a value of about $114.60! I'm always so impressed with this subscription. I wish there was a beauty tool in this box like there have been in previous boxes, but besides that I'm happy with the January box. Everything is super usable for me, and I love my new styling cream!

It’s probably not my favorite Beautyfix box but it’s still pretty great. I could do without the lipstick in this box. The colors are never good for me. I love the hair products.

I didn’t think the Nick Chavez cream would be good for my hair type, but I tried it today and so far I am impressed by the hair day I have had. My hair feels very soft. Who know if it’s a fluke or not…I guess I’ll find out tomorrow!

Where in the world is the Dollar Tree selling all the Briogeo masks? I’ve already gotten this TWICE in PopSugar surprise boxes (and NOT from the same cycle- Surprise- here’s more Briogeo and another Bingo set!) and now here it is in BeautyFix. I suppose we can expect it in the next FabFitFun box as well…

It’s also coming in January’s Look Fantastic box in trial size.

So after some thought I’ve decided I’ll give everything in the box a try. I debated about swapping some items but don’t think I will. I do think the value is low compared to other months but it’s still a great value.

When I saw the spoilers, I thought I did not want this box. After receiving it, I like all the products. Good value for the box, and everything will get used. Thanks to all the ladies for the advice on using the Brio… hair mask. tried using it like regular conditioner, and it was great!

This isn’t my favorite box of theirs. In fact I called & got a label to send it back. I’ll get a credit which I’ll no doubt use soon. There are a few products I’ve got my eye on at Dermstore.

I tried to cancel my subscription via email from the link in their site. I named the beauty subscription in the subject and the body of the email request-asking to cancel my monthly BeautyFix box subscription. Three days later I received a response that they were forwarding my request to cancel my magazine subscription to some publisher. I seriously just can’t anymore with this company. I politely responded that I don’t have a magazine subscription and again explained what it was I wanted to cancel, pointing them to my account online and directing them to my [only] site purchases for clarification. A week later my subscription remains active. I had to put a block on future charges with my credit card since they’ve stopped responding to me. Ridiculous.

You definitely aren’t supposed to be limited to calling to cancel only. I did my homework on that before I emailed. I don’t have any time during the work day to call as I’m in court daily so email is the most effective means I have available. I’m also on the west coast further limiting my ability to call. The customer service number and email link is identical on the site whether you’re contacting them about the subscription or a product order so there’s no excuse why they had no clue what I was asking to do. I’ve used email to communicate about my subscription several times with the same method without issue so their customer service absolutely knows what the subscription is. I’ve been subscribed since the beginning and this has left a poor impression.

Ragan

Last week, I canceled via email using the link from their site. Here is the response I got:

Hi Ragan,

We have received your request to cancel your Dermstore BeautyFIX Subscription. Your subscription has been cancelled as of today.

If you decide you want to renew your Dermstore Subscription, please let us know and we would be happy to reinstate your subscription.

If you have any additional questions or concerns you may simply reply to this email, call us at 1-800-213-3376 or start a live chat session with us at dermstore.com/customerservice. Customer service hours are Monday-Friday 5:00am-7:00pm (PS), Saturday 6:00am-4:00pm (PS), Sunday Closed *Excluding Holidays

We will see next month, I suppose, if it was actually canceled.

I cancelled my sub via email as well last year with no issues, and I received a similar (or, maybe the same) email as Ragan. I was going to say something earlier about being able to cancel via email, but I wasn’t sure if they changed their cancellation policy since I cancelled back in June.

Elena

Same here.

Maggie

I understand. I had wanted to cancel via email too, I had to call them. The call I made only took me a few minutes & there was no sales pitch to stay with the subscription or anything (which I was afraid there would be & I’m sometimes a pushover). They are really nice if you call them.

abidina

Yeah, I also called and it was probably a 30 second conversation with no pressure at all.

Laura

They make you call to cancel, there’s no way to do it otherwise.

I have the complete box up for swap if anyone is interested.

Brenda

Beth, I looked for your box, didn’t see it. Has it been swapped?

Just cant get excited about any of this. So glad I no longer subscribe to it. I would be taking it to my local food pantry where they could give it away.

Just a tip that has worked for me to be able to use hair masks and heavy conditioners: shampoo from roots down (and don’t pile all hair on head since it will just add tangles) and then condition from ends up. I never apply conditioner to my roots though. I tend to have an oily scalp but dry hair and I’ve been doing this for years.

Sarah Steil

I do the mask first then I use shampoo. I noticed by doing this my hair doesn’t get greasy. I actually like the product now that I did this.

Jasmine

I am going to try this, thanks!

Ann

FYI if you go to dermstore and sign up for their email list you get a 20% off coupon you can use on this box. I got it for $21.57 including tax.

I’m not excited for this one either… burned out on Brigeo and Manna Kadar, and the Avene water they sent me in the black friday box. :p

Renee

It is not my favorite Beautyfix box, but solid. One quibble: the Chavez is not full size, but travel size, with about $10 value. The $26 full size is 4 ounces.

Lunalee

I was about to say the same thing, because I would have wanted to try it. So I checked the website and you are right.
