This month's project is making a Brass Himmeli design!

And Darby Smart includes a link to tutorials, videos, and inspiration for your project!

This project includes 9 brass tubes.

Brass Wire:

A tubing cutter:

Here it is in action:

And an adorable little air plant:

This project was more involved than other Darby Smart crafts, so I had to follow the instructions on their website, but it was still easy enough to do.

The toughest part is using the tube cutter - you have to rotate the cutter around the tube, tightening the blade against the tube after a few rotations until you've complete cut through it. Then for stringing the wires through, you have to follow the directions pretty closely to get the tubes on in the right order and get everything secured where it's supposed to be.

Even though this project took a little more time, I think it's my favorite Darby Smart creation to date - this looks like something I would buy at Urban Outfitters!

Verdict: I really love the final results of my Darby Smart craft this month, plus I have enough materials left over to make a smaller version, too.

Liz, where do you see that a 6 month subscription is only $57.00?

I really enjoyed this box! Just had to make it the first night I got it. I also made a smaller version out of the left overs and they are hanging in my living room. I have honestly enjoyed Darby Smart so much, I’m just not sure its worth the $20 price tag? I feel like I definitely could have bought everything for this month for $20 or less, maybe at $15 It would be a bit more worth it? Either way, loved this month.

I’ve gotten the woodburing kit form Darby Smart before and it’s really fun! Highly recommend!

the whole reason i signed up was because of the spoiler for this box… and i signed up for this on 12/31… i ended up getting some wood burning kit :/

Aw man, I signed up wanting this box. I wonder what I’ll get? Ugh. Also couldn’t figure out how to get 6 months for 57 or one year for 95. All I found was one year for 228, which is no price break at all for paying up front for a year. So after I get whatever this first box is I’m probably cancelling.

Got the wood burning kit first. Forgot to cancel and got some stamping ink on leather bracelets box as my next one. Sigh. All I wanted was hanging brass tubes to start with. Basically I’m not going to like anything now because I can’t get the tubes. They look so awesome. 🙁 Canceled this time.

Was finding same thing, don’t see annual as priced here !

i just looked it up and its the old oct 2015 box… do they start all new subs with previous boxes?

If it was the “free” box, just pay the $5 shipping, then yes. They send out old box’s for that promo. If you signed using the promo for a $9 box you should be getting January’s. Or at least that’s how I understand it.

Michelle

Wow you did a terrific job! I hesitated before because I spend all my time knitting but I need to diversify with so much winter indoor time. With these deals I’m going to sign up. Thanks!

That is really cute. And if you purchased all of this on your own, it would likely add up to more than $19, or just around there, plus you’d probably have to go to more than 1 store to get everything.

Does anybody know if we order now, do we get this box?

I signed up too late last month to get the globe project and was super bummed. I emailed them and they told me that if they had any left they would let me buy one. Maybe if you send them a message they’ll be able to get you one.

I was really hoping to get this one but got the globe. I was quite disappointed.

I just checked for you. Unfortunately, January 10th was the last day to sign up and get this box. 🙁 Sorry!

I signed up on January 9 and received the wood burning kit. I will enjoy the kit, but it was not what I wanted or expected. So instead of starting my relationship with Darby by being delighted, I am disappointed and very ho hum about continuing. Really not a good way to make friends with new subscribers.
