Every December, March, June, and September, Merkaela sends its subscribers a package of 7-10 natural body and home items centered around a seasonal theme. According to the Merkaela site, the company uses Alchemy to "activate" their products, meaning you might get additional, unseen benefits from these pretty potions!

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Merkaela-january-2017-note

I was so excited to receive this box. I've been trying to incorporate more natural products into my beauty and self-care regimen, and this box has been so helpful for that.

The theme of this winter box is "Solstice". Through its products and message, this box seeks to recharge subscribers and help them reflect and refocus on what's important.

On the back of the card, there's a list of all the products, as well as notes about what makes them special.

There's also an "affirmation". I like that the card is small enough for a wallet or pocket so that I can keep it around as a reminder to stop and reflect.

I love this message of possibility and self-confidence. It inspires a great mindset moving into the new year.

Evergreen Soap - Value $8.50

I get nervous about evergreen and pine scents sometimes—those super strong, super artificial scents you run into in the holiday aisle.

Check out our review of the Merkaela winter box!

This evergreen scent? AMAZING. It was so subtle and cool, rather than heavy and overbearing. It's almost minty, actually. And it left my skin feeling clean and refreshed.

Venus Body Butter - Value $21.00

This body butter might seem expensive, but it's 100% worth it!

Check out our review of the Merkaela winter box!

This potion is all natural, with notes of rose, ylang-ylang, pine, and fir. The mixture is firm at first and took a few swirls of my finger to make it pliable. It's so creamy and buttery! I just love the feeling of smoothing it into my hands. And the oils soak into my skin immediately and provide lasting moisture.

Venus Body Exfoliator - Value $9.50

Exfoliation is a big part of my routine in the winter, as the colder air turns my skin dingy and dull.

This sugar scrub is ultra fine, which makes it gentle yet effective. And the scent is the same sweet evergreen aroma as the hand cream, thanks to a similar list of essential oil ingredients. So nice!

Venus Mineral Bath - Value $14.00

This bath is a blend of salts, which help refresh and invigorate your skin (and senses). There's also a pinch of the Venus scent blend. The aroma is so nice, and the salt feels great as it gently exfoliates and treats your skin to much-needed minerals.

Nurture Lip Balm - Value $4.00

This balm doesn't have any added fragrances, but it does have a sweet, almost vanilla note to it (I think because of the cocoa butter). My lips were SO dry when I put this balm on, and oh my gosh, did it do the trick! The balm is soft and far from sticky. The best part is that the moisture lasts—it soaks in, but not so fast that I needed to reapply right away. Love!

Raven Tea Potion - Value $7.70

This loose-leaf tea has the most indulgent, beautiful flavor. It's almost chocolatey, but in a light, floral way.

The tea is caffeine free, so no jitters. I think my favorite part is the Buddha quote on the lid. I love how this box plants reminders of your worth and power throughout your day by adding quotes to its products.

Honey Clay Facemask - Value $7.00

This tiny pot contains a cocoa-colored cream with the richest, deepest honey fragrance to it. This non-drying mask sits on your skin, supplying zapped winter skin with moisture, nutrients, and soothing lavender.

I love thick, moisturizing masks like these. My only wish is that there was more of this potion to use!

Cedar Smudge Stick - Value $4.40

I've never smudged my home until I started getting the Merkaela box. Does it make a palpable difference in the atmosphere of my home? Maybe, maybe not. But I do like the ritual of taking the time to cleanse or refresh my space. And the fragrance that fills my home, as a result, is so nice. This bundle of cedar has a lighter more herbal scent than you'd get in the depths of a cedar closet. According to Merkaela, cedar is purifying and protective. I'm excited to usher in a fresh start into my space, both with the magic of this smudge and my own intentions.

Clear Quartz Pendulum - Value $8.50

This is my first pendulum. You can use the pendulum to make decisions, identify areas of your body that need attention, and more. I'm excited to see where this beautiful quartz piece points me!

Verdict: I love my Merkaela box! The products are beautiful and have the most amazing fragrances. More importantly, they work! My skin feels moist and pampered, and I love that I'm treating myself with natural ingredients. The box costs $48.00, which might seem expensive, but there's about $85.00 of value inside. Amazing, natural products, responsibly produced are hard to find, so I'm thrilled to pay a little more to get such high-quality items delivered to my door!

What a lovely box! I’m on the fence about the spiritual side of this, but the products seem very nice and well curated.
