Here’s the info card/monthly challenge the Story Box sent out for December. Their focus this month is on encouraging you to bring your books with you when you leave the house and to read at the park, in waiting rooms, let them read in the car, etc. I already do this and know that Gideon loves having his favorite books handy at restaurants or for car trips.
The Little Rabbit Who Liked to Say MOO – Value $6.95
This is a cute book filled with animals that Gideon recognizes and know sounds for already. The story is silly, and about a rabbit who likes to go around experimenting with saying different noises just because he thinks they’re fun. Eventually, the whole farm joins him.
It’s a really cute book, and my son loves making all the noises and thinks it’s funny that animals are saying things they aren’t supposed to.
Fulff & Billy – Value $6.95
Lots of penguins in my children’s book subscriptions in December! This one has really cute art and is about two little penguins that do everything the same together. Then it turns more into competition and copying, and finally, they sit back to back not talking to each other. Well, of course, they figure out how to get past that and have fun again.
It’s a very recognizable situation for kids and families, either relating to friends or younger siblings. I think this is a cute book to have as he grows a little older and has to learn how to handle more social situations.
Verdict: The December The Story Box board box delivered some adorable books that my son and I love! As far as value goes, I got $13.90 of books for $14.99 so it wasn’t fantastic as far as savings goes, but the value almost breaks even and the books also get chosen by a speech-language pathologist. This box tends to not be super great for a “savings” value, but I do think there’s value in the curation and letting kids get excited about a new book and having new stories to rotate… So, that helps it a little for me.
