WODBOM stands for “Workout of the Day – Box of the Month” and is a subscription box designed for CrossFit enthusiasts, by CrossFit enthusiasts. (Although, I don’t think you absolutely have to be into CrossFit to get something out of this box, as long as you are interested in working out!)
This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Bite Fuel Protein Granola Trail Mix in Pina Colada (11 oz, full size) – Value $7.99
We had a bag of this (same flavor) from another subscription box not so long ago and my husband ate the whole thing. It is a bit high in calories for me to eat much at a time, but my husband likes this for an after-work snack, so it will disappear quickly. It has a bit of whey in it to add to the protein content. It is also gluten free and soy free if either of those is important to you.
Goat Kinesiology Tape – Value $16 (regular price $20)
I learned something new today as I was researching this product. This is not just regular tape! This is elastic (allowing freedom of movement) but still provides support and can be worn for up to 4 days. I have been doing more Shaun T. workouts than I probably should be lately and my knees are bugging me so I am using this as an alternative to neoprene knee sleeves.
Wod and Done Hand Grips (2 count) – Value $3
I’ve received these in fitness subscription boxes before. They are used to protect the hands when doing heavy lifting, etc. I have some issues with blisters using my heaviest kettlebells so that’s how I like to use these.
SFH Fuel in Churro (1.1 oz) – Value $1.72
This is whey protein with a cinnamon flavor. This brand is new to me and is supposed to be low in lactose and higher in calcium than other types of whey protein. I do not have the equipment to determine whey and calcium content, of course, but this does blend nicely into my morning smoothies!
Jimmy Bar Clean Protein Snack Bar in Lemon Vanilla Swirl (2.05 oz) – Value $2.50
I’m familiar with regular Jimmy Bars but this product is new to me. I love that it is high in protein and low in sugar. It is not actually crunchy, though (but is really hard to cut with a knife – actually the texture is kind of strange). This had a hint of lemon flavor. I’m not totally sold on these yet but would be willing to try other flavors.
Tri-blend Next Level Hoodie – Listed Value $38
WODBOM does like to send out items with their logo emblazoned on the front. But that is OK if they are useful. The “tri-blend” in the name refers to the lightweight blend of three different fibers that makes up the fabric of this hoodie. I am happy to get apparel other than tanks in fitness boxes and this is seasonally appropriate. My workout room has been 54 degrees lately (I run a space heater while actually using the room) so this has helped keep my arms warm!
Verdict: I calculated a value of $69.21 for the January WODBOM. That is nearly double the cost of the subscription and is a pretty typical value for this subscription. I am happy, of course, that all the food items were vegetarian this month (that is not always the case) and I’m excited to try the kinesiology tape as I think it could really fill a need I have. I’ll use every item, which is great. Plus, although this box is obviously marketed towards Crossfit enthusiasts (hence “WOD” in the name), most of the time, the items are suitable for anyone with an interest in fitness and working out.
What did you think of the January 2017 WODBOM? Do you get any fitness subscriptions?
