This subscription box now offers a lower priced option - $39.95 for 3 items: a sports bra, a top, and a bottom. After receiving this for a few months, I prefer the cheaper option since I don't need too many workout accessories. And it's been doing well over the years - it was just voted as one of the Best Fitness Subscription Boxes and one of the Best Women's Clothing Subscription Boxes in the 2019 Subscription Box Awards!

Ellie is back! And it's now a workout wear + gear subscription!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

I'm not sure what's going on with the free water bottle mentioned on the inside of the lid. When I placed my order for this subscription, the free water bottle automatically appeared in the cart, but it didn't show up with my box. (I just emailed them to ask if the water bottle is shipping separately. I'll update this post when I hear back!)

Marika Zuma Tee - Retail Value $38 (On Sale for $26.99)

Ellie-february-2017-0017

This moisture-wicking PWR-TEK fabric is super lightweight and thin - perfect for when you want a barely-there layer. It also has mesh venting in the back:

The fit is somewhat loose, but it's still cut to have some shape to it. (As far as sizing goes, I am between a Medium and Large in Fabletics. I usually go with a Medium in Fabletics tops, and I picked large for Ellie, and this top fits me well and isn't too tight.)

Marika Back in Gear Framed Legging - Value $50?

These leggings are 90% Polyester and 10% Spandex.

Ellie-february-2017-0020

I usually stick to black/dark grey leggings, so these are a good compromise for getting me to try out patterns - the print is only on the front!

And these leggings have a pocket for keys/cash on the inside waistband. These are comfortable, and pretty light in terms of compression.

Marika Jamie Seamless Sport Bra - Retail Value $40 (On Sale for $24.99)

This bra is awesome! It's super comfortable and supportive and it has a hook and eye closure to customize the fit:

And it has removable cups:

I think I will buy a few more of these bras while they are on sale. It's not often I find a medium/high impact sports bra that is also really comfortable!

Now, onto the accessories!

Balance Collection Massage Stick - Value $15?

(I couldn't find this exact item online, so I'm estimating the value based on similar items.)

I really like this tool! It's supposed to help increase circulation and reduce muscle soreness. (Plus the pink colors is fun!)

Marika Fitness Bands - Value $15?

Ellie-february-2017-0008

(I couldn't find this product online, so I'm estimating value again.)

Ellie-february-2017-0009

This set includes light, medium, and strong resistance bands:

(Bands are latex-free, too.)

Drawstring Bag - Value $2?

Ellie-february-2017-0005

And lastly, this box came with a drawstring bag. Not super exciting, but good if you're looking for a gym bag that's small and light.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $134 (that's using the sale prices of the Marika products.) I think that's a great value for a $50 workout clothing subscription, and I like the accessories they included, too. I also appreciate that all the clothing items came from Marika. The whole outfit feels coordinated and looks cute. (At only $49.95 for the whole box, I was worried the items might be from all over the place and more "closeout" clearance items.)

Also - I love the rose gold box!

Do you get to keep everything that comes in the box for the monthly price?

I love the Marika brand! They make a nice tummy compression capris that are my favorites for Zumba because they don’t fall down when you jump around.

Do not get this if you need xl sports bra. They subbed an XS, which obviously won’t work. I finally got a call from them after 2 emails and a phone call over a full week. They don’t have xl bras and offered me another size that would not work. So now I have to ship the whole thing back and then they’ll refund. Luckily I hadn’t used any of the other items or I would be stuck with it. I ordered for the sports bra and water bottle and received neither. To add insult to injury, they let me know that they don’t have any xl bras for February either. Maybe I should just get Avenue A.

First, I hope that the company sent you a return label to print out. Second, take a look at Buffboxx. The sizes are true and you get a lot of products. The company is by Rebock. The large Capri/ workout pants in size large fit me- I wear a 12/14. Buffboxx has XL size also. I am waiting for my Ellie box also. I hope that it is good. I really do not care about the water bottle- but it is a little sketchy to have it listed on my checkout page and I do not get the bottle. I think that in order to get the bottle you have to follow what is in the cover of the subscription box- I guess that if you do not post a picture on Instagram- no bottle. If they. Mail the bottle separately that is a waste of money. Starting to get nervous.

I’m excited to get mine! (Even if it doesn’t have the water bottle – I didn’t really care too much about that). I too was worried about a “closeout” type outfit but the coordination looks great – if it all fits and I like the bra (looks like the type I’d like) I plan on continuing subscribing – a ton of workout clothes for a year, but I do some personal training/HIIT classes on the side so that’s a business expense, right 😉 Resistance Bands are awesome – I’ll try and look on YouTube for some workouts for you guys.

It is really good box and value is definitely there, however, have a question
– is every box going to have Marika product or they use different designers. On Amazon this product rated somewhere in the middle.
Liz, in terms of quality, what product/brand you would compare to? I tried a lot of leggings, my favorite is Zella and VSX Knockout, they have quality, design, thickness and comfort.

Resident TJ Maxx addict popping in to say that Marika is a staple brand in their active wear section. I have had a few shirts from the line and I find them to be quite nice and durable. I can’t speak to pants though. It goes without saying the price is significantly lower than what’s listed in this review (even at the sale price), but I suppose this is probably current season attire and not last season).

I’ve whined about this before but, one thing I always look for in these fitness boxes is VIDEOS. Why do none of them include DVDs?????? FFF has seriously been lacking in their “Fit” lately, but in the past they used to include DVDs. The MizzFit box once included an entire set of DVDs (although I don’t think has featured DVDs since) and I’ve not seen the Adidas box have a DVD.

It just doesn’t make sense to me. They’re cheap for one, secondly if you’re sending out the work out tools (like bands) – why not include a workout so people aren’t saying, “If you have any Youtube resistance band workout videos you recommend, let me know!”

Ive bought some of their shorts (the really tiny spandex ones, and also some leggings, both were more of a cotton blend than spandexy i think (so theyve faded a bit) but i dont have more than maybe 10 work out bottoms and these have stayed in rotation well over 4 yrs, so durability is def there on the pants as well. Those shirts and bras are indistructible…though i dont use the bras thaaatttt much bc to me they are more scratchy than the VS sport ones, and not as supportive.

Liz Cadman

I’ll reach out and ask about if they will be switching up the designers for future boxes and let you know when I hear back.

As far as quality goes, first I should admit that I haven’t tried either of those brands you mentioned (though, now I want to), so I can’t give you a perfect comparison. I’m impressed by the quality for the price points. I think this is a good line for basics, and the bra really stood out to me. The construction and details are great, and it has that comfort and thickness you mentioned. The leggings aren’t a thick material, but thicker than the tee, and I think both are great lightweight pieces. Hope that helps a little!

Liz,

Thank you so much for such a detailed question. One more thing, when you squat or in down dog pose, is this leggings see through. I have really bad experience with ALO Goddess pants that specifically design for yoga, but, my God, every time you take any yoga pose, it feels like you pull your pants down on public, can see every single details of your underwear and more.
