Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Each month you get full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag. I think it’s one of the best value beauty subscriptions and a great way to build out your makeup collection on the cheap!

Ipsy-February-2017-0002

This is one of my top recommendations if you are looking for a beauty box - the value and sample sizes are amazing. (Check out my list of the Top Beauty Boxes for 2016 and our reviews of Cheap Subscription Boxes for more recommendations!)

(FYI – Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Ipsy-February-2017-0019

Each month, ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their 5 items. This bag is made with a denim fabric, with a neon border and lining accent!

Ipsy-February-2017-0018

(I was hoping for something more pink/hearts for February, but this bag is still pretty cute._

Now, onto the items!

Ipsy-February-2017-0009

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Anti-Aging Concealer in Medium - 1.5 ml Value $4.50

Ipsy-February-2017-0010

IT Cosmetics is my favorite concealer of all time, and this is their new Illumination version of the concealer.

Ipsy-February-2017-0011

If you have dark circles like I do, this is the BEST concealer I've found for full coverage. It goes on a little tacky to the touch, but it's still easy to blend out, and it stays put. I recommend setting it with a powder, and then you are good to go!

I can't tell a big difference in illumination between this concealer and their regular concealer, but that's fine by me - both are fab!

(Swatched in lower photo.)

Ipsy-February-2017-0004

Elizabeth Mott Whatup Beaches Matte Bronzer - .02 oz Value $2.20

Elizabeth Mott gets points for the name of this bronzer, but they lose some points for the sample size! This bronzer sample is about the size of an eyeshadow pan and it just feels so small for an ipsy bag.

Ipsy-February-2017-0005

Sample size issues aside, the formula itself is great. The finish is matte (my go-to for bronzer), the pigment is excellent, and the powder glides on so smoothly, too.

(Swatched in lower photo.)

Ipsy-February-2017-0006

IBY Beauty Highlighter in Bubbly - FULL SIZE! Value $12

Ipsy-February-2017-0007

I was about to comment that this sample is slightly better in size than the bronzer, then I looked up the size of the full-size version and realized this is actually full size! (Full size for this highlighter is 1.8 g.)

Again, I'll stop complaining about size and move onto the actual product! This highlighter gives such a gorgeous peachy shimmer that catches the light beautifully. The formula is highly pigmented, so a little goes a long way, and you can easily blend it out, too.

Here it is swatched below the bronzer and above the concealer:

Ipsy-February-2017-0022

Ipsy-February-2017-0016

Luxie 514 Rose Gold Blush Brush - Value $18

Ipsy-February-2017-0017

I have a lot of Luxie brushes thanks to my multiple Ipsy subscriptions, but I'm always happy to get more. They are beautiful and the bristles are super soft.

Ipsy-February-2017-0014

MOR Rosa Noir Hand & Body Milk - 1 oz Value $6.40

(Good to know for swaps - this tube has an inner foil seal.)

This hand cream is free of parabens and sulfates! The scent is described as a blend of "Extracts of Wild Rose, Hibiscus and Licorice." It's a decadent scent, and I like it way more than I was expecting to! Plus the formula is moisturizing without leaving my hands greasy.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $43. That's great for a $10 subscription box. (And that's not counting the value of the makeup bag!) The value is on the low side for Ipsy bags (some of my past bags have had values of $60+), and I wish some of the products were larger sizes, but even with those concerns, it's still a great bag for me.

What do you think of the February Ipsy Glam Bag? What items did you get in your bag? Was anyone else surprised by that bronzer sample size?

I really loved my 1st bag, Feb. 2017, but the intense use of Facebook and other social media to earn points was a turn off. I do not use such social media outlets. I cancelled Maybe sometime in the future I’ll try it again. I’ll have to think about it.

The ipsy bag itself was ok this month, but what I received was great!

Marsk eyeshadow in “you’re toast” $22.50
FULL SIZE
Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in “I give good tweet” $15
FULL SIZE
Luxie blush brush #514. $18
FULL SIZE
Luna Highlighter in “calypso” $23
FULL SIZE
Veneffect anti-aging lip treatment $25
( about 1/3 of full size and full size is $85)

So my bag ended up being over $100 worth of products!?!?! Crazy right 😮

I was pretty happy with my bag!! The only thing I didn’t like was the bag itself, I wish it would’ve been valentines themed or at least pink or red.
I got:
NYX Butter Lipstick in Ripe Berry
Iby Beauty Highlighter in Bubbly
Promise Organic Nourishing Coconut Milk Daily Facial Scrub
Elizabeth Mott Whatup Beaches Matte Bronzer
Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Blush Brush 514

I received my first bag this month and honestly, I’m disappointed. I got almost everything that was mentioned in this post, and the highlighter is so crap. It’s very pink (almost like a blush) and looks horrible on the skin with chunks of glitter. I like the concealer and I had 2 face masks that were pretty nice. The bag is ugly and tacky as hell, and I got a cheap fan brush as well. I’m going to give it two more chances and if not, I’m canceling. I’m Canadian so the conversion rate jacks this up to about $24/mo, and I don’t think this is worth it at the moment.

Received mine today and it totalled $77.88 USD (I’m Canadian so it’s worth a bit more with the exchange).

Naked Cosmetics HD Finishing Banana Powder 14.99
NYX Professional Makeup Butter Lipstick in Ripe Berry 5.99
BellaPierre Volume Lash Waterproof Mascara 20
True Botanicals Resurfacing Moisture Mask 13.24
Luxie Beauty (Luxie Rose Gold Blush Brush 514) 23.66

Very impressed Ipsy! =)

meant $18 for the brush

My bag was so “me” this month, I feel like they’re listening to surveys and feedback.

I got:

* NYX butter lipstick in “Lifeguard” (weirdly enough red was the one lip color I didn’t have checked just ’cause I have so many, but I didn’t have one quite like this yet))
* Hikari cream eyeshadow in “Latte” (which is close to the color of my eyes)
* Absolute New York nano eyeliner (this thing is SO smooth, it’s awesome)
* Luxie blush brush (SO SOFT!)
* Biobelle sheet mask duo (sheet masks are one of my favorite skincare things)

This month I got my first IPSY bag. Honestly not a fan of the bag itself but my sister was a fan of what came in the bag! I don’t really wear makeup so I don’t know a lot about it, which is probably why I liked the stuff that came. Everything I don’t use I gave to my sister and she liked what she got so overall pretty happy.

The only thing I was mad about was the fact that I was on the waiting list for 2 months.

I loved the bag this month! All my items were full size and all but one I’ve used and already love. I got the lipstick in berry and it’s super pretty. I also got 2 sheet masks, the HD finishing powder, the highlighting brush, and the cream blush. I’m not a fan of cream blushes, I prefer powder. I also think the color I received was very hard for me. But it was full size (like everything else) so I’m going to save it for a Christmas present.

Did anyone else get a brush that didn’t look quite right? My luxie brush bristles were sticking out and one even was looped around and tucked back inside the top part. Usually Luxie has such great quality brushes, but this one looked terrible.

Do you think Ipsy would send me a new one if I emailed them pictures?

Katie85

Mine is a bit…off. The bristles seem okay, but it’s bent somehow where the wood handle meets the metal. I’m not certain how Ipsycare would handle it, but you aren’t alone.

I just cancelled my Ipsy subscription after a year and a half because I am on product overload, but what a way to go out! My bag had the Luxie blush brush, NYX lipstick, 2 Biobelle masks, Trust Fund Beauty nail polish, and the Organic Pharmacy Lip and Eye Cream. The value was a whopping $95!!!! The lip and eye cream alone was $48. I also redeemed all my points since I knew I was quitting and was one of the few lucky ones to score the Clearista retexturizing gel for $70!!! With a bag like this one, so tempted to resubscribe! FYI: Ipsy will hold your points in your account for a year after you cancel just in case you want to resubscribe.

I LOVE most of my Ipsy bag this month!
Trust Fund Nail Polish in “I Give Good Tweet” – I emailed a request for this shade to Ipsy customer, love it. Shimmery muted periwinkle blue color.
Befine Food Skin Care Gentle Cleanser
NYX Butter lipstick in Lifeguard – brown red looks very vampy but sheers out to a nice stain wupith some balm over top.
Bellapierre Waterproof Mascara
Naked Cosmetics Banana HD Finishing Powder

I have already emailed customer care requesting the First Aid Beauty Facial Moisturizer that was in the spoilers for the March bag. I can never get enough facial moisturizer and this one looks like the full size 1.7 oz (going by the picture shown of the packaging) which retails for $24 at Ulta! If I get that next month I al oat don’t care about the rest of my bag. So far Ipsy has been well worth the $10 subscription😀

They are posted here on this blog.p, search Ipsy and all the posts come up. I did get an email reply that they would include the moisturizer I asked for in my March glam bag.

Got the same things and love them. I am very happy with my bag.

I got the bronzer too. It is so small. The pan isn’t wide enough to even get a brush in there.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

Totally agree. I threw mine away. Worthless

I got the Marsk shadow in You’re Toast, Japonesque brush cleanser, Absolute NY nano liner, Biobelle sheet mask duo and LUXIE blush brush. Happy with 4/5, but think I can easily gift the Marsk shadow.

My biggest complaint with Ipsy is that it takes me 13 days to receive it once it’s shipped. That’s nuts.

Where are you? I am in Alaska and I don’t get my bags until the last of the month.

Overall I am happy with Ipsy. I just got my third subscription. I don’t buy any other make up. I sometimes have to buy foundation, but other than that I just use Ipsy. I cancelled Lip Monthly which was hit or miss for me.

I got the same Luxie brush and I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to use it? It’s wonderfully soft…so soft that I have trouble picking up any product with it! It doesn’t seem to work well on anything pressed or baked, so is it for loose powders only? Brush mavens, help!

Bag twins! I love the brush for blush and powder and highlighter and bronzer-it applies lightly. The bronzer is pretty good. I can’t get the bye bye undereye to look good under my eyes but it is good for concealer. I love the Rosa Noir scent too! It smells like Lollia’s Relax hand cream! I like the IBY highlighter but have tried so many that look better on me. This one is nice and subtle for a highlighter though. It swatches So brightly but doesn’t stay that way long on my face. I LOVE it as an eye highlight!

Really happy with my bag save one item and 4/5 is AMAZING compared to what it had been lately…

Loving the:

Nyx lipstick in Lifeguard
Organic Pharmacy Lip and Eye cream
True Botanicals Resurfacing Moisture Mask
Luxie Brush

Not loving:
Hikari cream pigment (can’t stop wishing this had been the Luna highlighter… I don’t think I’ve gotten a perfect bag before!)

WHAT THE tiny house…the Mott bronzer is so little!! I think This is one for Birchbox! lol I shouldn’t complain I love matte bronzers for my brows and I’m almost out on the balm one I use now!!!

Reply ButtonReply

carrilynn

Oh! For brows! I’m now excited for the “tiny house” 🙂 I’d not thought to use bronzer this way. Thanks.

I’m neither excited or disappointed in my bag. Generally I’m always happy with whatever I recieve. It’s $10 and I always get at least one item that cost more than the whole bag that I really love. To me, that makes it completely worth it. I tend to pass on what doesn’t work for me to my mom and she seems to enjoy them. I’ve also been really impressed by how cute the bags are. I’ve used them as clutches several time when going out. I also love that this month wasn’t the typical Valentine’s Day theme. This is definitely a bag I can use regularly. This month I recieved:

-The Organic Pharmacy Lip & Eye Cream (passed to mom)
-NYX Butter Lipstick in Lifeguard (passed to mom. I don’t wear reds at all but she fell in love with it and wore it tonight for dinner with her boyfriend and friends. So win.)
-Elizabeth Mott Whatup Beaches Matte Bronzer (kept, but so small. Probably will use as eyeshadow instead. But it’s nice.)
-Be Fine Food Skin Care Gentle Cleaver (happy about this because my skin has not been happy lately.)
-Luxie Rose Gold Blush Brush 514 (this is what makes the whole bag worth it. I love this brand of brushes and I was hoping for it. If I got a brush every month I would not care what else I recieved.)

Jeanine

WHAT THE tiny house…the Mott bronzer is so small!! I think this is one for birchbox!! Lol Anyway, I’m shouldn’t complain because I love matte bronzer for my brows and I’m almost out of my the balm one!!

Loved my bag! I got:

-Trust Fund nail polish in $12 Latte
-NYX lipstick in ripe berry (full size)
-BellaPierre Mascara (full size)
-Promise organic coconut daily facial scrub
-True Botanicals resurfacing moisture mask

I love reading and seeing what others received. Ipsy was a sure hit for me this month.

Laura

Wow. The ONLY thing I received that is pictured here is the make up brush. This is my first ipsy bag and it was horrible. I don’t even know what “bonus” items are, I sure didn’t get any. One more bag for ipsy, if the next one is as bad as the first I’m cancelling. 🙁
