KidBox is a “kid’s style box that combines cool brands, meaningful savings and a mission to clothe children in need.”
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
This review is of the Boys Winter Box.
The Subscription Box: KidBox
The Cost: no styling fee, pay only for the clothes you keep or pay $98 to keep the entire box (free shipping both ways)
The Products: 6-7 clothing items based on the size and style preferences you select
Ships to: U.S.
Good to know: Kidbox ships 5 boxes a year (spring, summer, back to school, fall and winter) but they will notify you before they ship in case you want to skip a box, change your child’s sizing or even their style preferences.
Check out all of our Kidbox reviews and the Kid's Clothing Subscription Box Directory!
Keep Track of Your Subscriptions: Add this box to your subscription list or wishlist!
Each box comes with a price sheet listing each item of clothing, the retail price, and the price KidBox will charge to keep that item (which is less than retail). If you keep the entire box for $98 you can also select a cause and Kidbox will make a donation to a kid in need such as a military family or foster child. What a great idea!
There was a welcome booklet personalized with my son’s name and simple directions for returning unwanted items or exchanging for alternate sizes. There were sheets of stickers and a reusable slide pouch. There’s also a plastic mailer and pre-addressed sticker to easily return anything you’re not keeping.
U.S. Polo Assn. Striped Sweater – Retail $38 (Kidbox price $20)
My son liked this half zip striped cotton sweater. It’s thick, warm and not at all itchy.
Diesel Joggers – Retail $30 (Kidbox price $22)
My son loves wearing joggers. He calls them “softies” and they are easy to take on and off with the elastic waist. These Diesel ones are very thick which is perfect as it’s still very cold here in New Jersey.
Lucky Bicycle Bear Tee – Retail $22 (Kidbox price $16)
This is a soft t-shirt and my son loves it. It’s his favorite item from the whole box. It fits well and the bike-riding bear is whimsical and unique which is just our style.
7 For All Mankind Jeans – Retail $65 (Kidbox price $41)
These jeans have a nice fit which my son is happy with. He doesn’t like wearing skinny jeans so these were a great staple to get that I know will get a ton of wear this season. I like the medium wash color too.
US Polo Assn. Fleece Varsity Jacket – Retail $30 (Kidbox price $16)
This varsity jacket isn’t my son’s typical style, but he might be convinced to give it a shot. I like the retro feel of it. It’s super soft too and will be a good weight for chilly spring days.
Paper Denim and Cloth Button Down Shirt – Retail $42 (Kidbox price $29)
This button down shirt has an anchor print and sleeves that can be worn down or cuffed and buttoned up. The blue is a nice shade of teal that my son likes.
US Polo Assn. Black Drawstring Jeans – Retail $32 (Kidbox price $25)
This wide leg pair of black jeans aren't my son’s style. They were very loose and just not the type of pants he gravitates toward. We will be sending these back.
iHome Star Wars Speaker - Bonus Gift (retail value $25.00)
This shipment also included a thank you gift for being loyal KidBox subscribers. It’s an iHome mini speaker. I thought this was a very thoughtful gesture and my son is just getting into Star Wars so though he doesn’t have much use for a speaker he thought it looked cool anyway!
Here is my son modeling the US Polo black jeans and anchor print button down shirt. Everything fit well this month except these pants were too baggy.
Here he is wearing the bear shirt and joggers. Can you tell he likes these pants and shirt and best? He’s so happy and comfy in this outfit!
This is a photo of the US Polo Assn. sweater and 7 For Al Mankind Jeans.
Lastly, my son is wearing the varsity jacket and jeans again.
Verdict: We loved our Winter KidBox! The retail value of these six items is $284. Using the Kidbox prices they would be $169, but if you keep the whole box you’d only be charged $98. We loved 6 out of the 7 items sent this month and felt all the pieces were well-made. I love the ease of the process, the free shipping and all the little touches like the stickers and personalization that made it more fun for my son. He loved getting a special box filled with items just for him.
