Skinfood Avocado Lip Scrub 14 g/0.5 oz - Value $12
This packaging is way too adorable! This mini avocado opens up to reveal a hydrating lip scrub. It contains avocado and sugar to keeps lips moist and flake free.
I own a few lip scrubs, but this one performs differently from the others. Overall it is half sugar scrub, half nourishing lip balm. It's easy to apply onto lips, and scrubbing is very gentle because the sugar grains are so fine. However, my lips and fingers feel greasy afterward, and it's hard to wash off with water. I recommend soap and water or wiping the remnants off on a paper towel. If you can handle the greasiness, this product makes for a great 2-in-1 scrub and lip balm.
Goodal Waterest Lotus Cleansing Tissue - Value $5
I was first introduced to this cleansing tissue in the August 2016 3B Box. The Lotus Water Cleansing Tissue is part of the Waterest line, which features fermented seed oils. There are 20 tissues total. They have a soft, luxurious fragrance that I can't get enough of. Just one piece is enough to clean off all my day makeup. The material is also very soft and very gentle, perfect for any skin type. Also, this is the perfect size for travel!
Tosowoong Enzyme Powder Cleanser 70 g/2.5 oz - Value $11
I was first introduced to this product in the December 2016 PinkSeoul Box. It is a gentle, low pH powder cleanser that's enriched with Vitamin E. The grains are a little chunky, about the size of powder laundry detergent. Therefore, they take a little bit of lathering to turn into foam and might be rough on the skin if you don't dissolve them enough. That said, it lathers beautifully and makes my face feel clean without any dryness afterward. I can also take this on flights without worrying about TSA liquids limitations.
The dispenser cap is designed to prevent you from dispensing too much powder at once. I think this is the most creative features of the packaging.
Manyo Factory Moist Floral Wax Coating Pack 100 ml/3.4 oz - Value $27
This is a wash-off mask that contains a 100% natural complex of black tea, damascus rose, and beeswax. It claims to help calm skin irritation, moisturize, provide elasticity, and help skin glow. The box features gorgeous watercolor flower print and the jar is made of heavy, frosted glass, which gives the product an overall luxurious feel.
Upon opening the jar, I'm hit with the smell of fresh roses. The mask has a gel consistency with flower petals suspended in the mixture. This is definitely one of the fanciest masks I've ever received. It feels a slightly cooling during masking. After the mask is washed off, my face looks brighter, smoother, hydrated, and less red. Overall, this is a great discovery.
BRTC The First Ampoule Advanced Serum 30 ml/1 oz - Value $35
This serum contains Fermentox (80%) and Blue Phyto Complex, and it claims to moisturize, brighten, soothe and to strengthen the skin's moisture barrier. According to text on the box, Fermentox is a proprietary complex made of yeast extract, green tea, and taraxacum platycarpum (Korean dandelion). Blue Phyto Complex is a proprietary complex that includes lavender water.
The serum has a medium weight, gel-like consistency. It has a mild fragrance. I like that it absorbs relatively fast and doesn't feel heavy on my skin. It's definitely moisturizing, but it is too early to tell if the other claims are true.
Clio Pro Play Eyelash Curler - Value $3.25
This month's accessory item is an eyelash curler (with one pad refill) from Clio. I'm so excited to see Clio in a subscription box! Usually, I see sister brands Goodal and SooAe featured, but not Clio.
The curler performs well as far as I can tell. It doesn't pinch any delicate skin (my old curler had trouble with this) and the curvature is perfect for my eye shape. Never has curling lashes been this painless!
Leaders Coconut Gel Mask with Orange - Value $5
This is a coconut gel mask that feels exactly like bio-cellulose. The fit is great because of the thin, stretchy material. The fragrance is pleasant. The essence absorbs quickly, leaving skin smooth, soft, plump, and matte. The best part is that my skin doesn't feel sticky at all after use.
Nature Republic Real Nature Mask in Tea Tree - Value $1.50
This is a cotton sheet mask that contains tea tree extract, which helps soothe and dissolve skin oils. The mask itself is very wide-- it reaches past my hairline and hits close to the ear. The scent is a combination of alcohol and added fragrance. The watery essence absorbs quickly after use, leaving my face soft, hydrated, and soothed. However, there is some residual stickiness on the skin afterward.
Etude House Royal Honey Essential Emulsion sample
Included in the box but not listed on the card are two samples. This is a creamy, light-to-medium weight emulsion. It smells like honey but the fragrance disappears quickly after application. It absorbs fast and leaves skin smooth and moisturized. A quick search online tells me this is a 7 ml sample, which is a nice step up from foil samples!
Skinfood Freshmade Watermelon Mask sample
This wash-off mask smells exactly like watermelon Jolly Rancher candy! It has a gel-like consistency. My face feels a little more hydrated after use, but other than that, there's no difference. In fact, my cheeks and chin grew lots of tiny non-acne bumps the day after using this. I do have a watermelon allergy, but I can't fathom it being the cause of my reaction. Or maybe this watermelon mask is too fresh for me?
Verdict: I love love love this month's PinkSeoul Plus box. My favorite item this month is the Manyo Factory Moist Floral Wax Coating Pack. I also have PinkSeoul to thank for my love of the Manyo Factory brand. Aside from the Skinfood sample, I like and will use every product. The curation is amazing, the item variety is perfect, and the total value is about $100-- twice the cost of the box!
