It seems like they are dabbling with themes across their boxes. This one didn't have a theme - but you'll at least know a couple franchises in the box before subscribing.
You'll get a booklet that includes stories and information about the items in the box.
And you'll always get a $10 voucher to spend at their Nerd Block store - mine is free to the first reader to redeem!
Buffy The Vampire Slayer Shirt - Value $15?
This month's shirt brings back Buffy! I like the graphic even if I was never a fan of the show - was I the only person who really enjoyed the movie from the early 90's but didn't follow the show?
Ghostbusters Funedibles Vinyl Figure - Value $17 on Amazon
The hero item of the box is this little vinyl figure featuring either Slimer as a jello mold or Stay-Puft as a, well, as himself - a marshmallow.
These figures stand 4 inches tall and have a great weight - they feel well build. I like the look of both vinyl figures - but it's almost too easy to fashion Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man after a marshmallow!
Alien Chestburster Apron - Value $10-15?
This month features a kitchen item as well - you'll get an Alien themed apron.
It's the normal length, but quality-wise, it feels a little thinner and less durable than a typical apron. That being said, this apron has a MAJOR advantage over other aprons:
You can reproduce your favorite Alien scene!
Supernatural Belt - Value $10?
They include a belt featuring Supernatural.
It's not the best quality belt and the belt buckle is just a sticker - so I'd imagine it could easily be damaged.
Hellboy Companion Trade Paperback - List Price $14.95 but it's pretty old so you can get it new for $8 on Amazon
The last item is this Hellboy companion paperback. MAJOR book/comic foul - this was bent around another item to fit into the box!
This is a cool item for Hellboy fans, though - or even someone just getting into Hellboy! It includes a ton of information on Hellboy, his enemies, and his world!
Verdict: I'm liking this month's Sci-Fan Box - the only item that I wasn't pleased with was the belt, but that was due to quality - if you're a Supernatural fan, you might still be happy with it. When I first saw the vinyl figure, I didn't think much of it, but after a closer look - I'm liking them and considering getting the rest of the collection!
