Square Hue is a monthly nail polish subscription box. They create their own colors in-house for every box, donate a portion of their sales to charity, and give each box a theme.

Square Hue kindly sent me this box to review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

January's theme is Tango!

Square Hue Polish in La Parada - Value $10

This shade is a tangerine holo jelly. It looks pretty bold in the bottle but turned out more wearable for me than I was expecting. One coat gives a somewhat sheer finish, too. Here it is on with the Media Luna shade:

Square Hue Polish in Media Luna - Value $10

This shade is described as a shimmer by Square Hue, and it looks shimmery in the bottle, but on my nails is reads more like a subtle metallic cream - no shimmer.

Square Hue Polish in Golpe- Value $10

This shade is another shimmer, and more noticeable, too! Here it is on:

Verdict: I think Square Hue is great for getting a wide variety of colors and finishes. The formulas are impressive, too. Plus I think $21 for 3 polishes is a fair value.

Concept seems good, but I went back and looked at reviews of past boxes and the colors are terrible in my opinion.

I feel like there’s one nice color a month (I liked this month’s silver), but there are a lot I’m just not liking in the previous reviews. They seem to send out a lot of slightly off-whites and bright oranges, which are not at all my style. Julep isn’t perfect, but I’m pretty happy with it and the customization is unbeatable!

I thought so too, which is why I didn’t join it either. Glad it wasn’t just me, heh! I’ll stick with Julep Maven thanks :p

After keeping an eye on this box for a couple years, I finally started subscribing with this box. I got La Parada and GOLpe. I think their colors this year are stunning. I have a huge collection of polish, though, so some colors arent unique to my collection. I used a code where I could get a random previous s box for free, and I was pleased the one they sent included “SAndstone” from last August or September
