Now, let's look at those snacks!

Jake Vitamin Candy, Green Tea Lime 0.66oz - Value $1.23

These sugar-free candies are very tart and sweet. They are packed in a foil blister pack inside a sleeve which makes them very portable. The lime flavored candies are enriched with Vitamin C and green tea extract which gives them a bit of a green tea flavor.

Urthbox-january-2017-0010

The candies are easy to chew through and the lime flavor makes them a refreshing treat. They pack a good bit of sweetness from the sorbitol and sucralose. I prefer not to consume artificial sweeteners so I went easy on these.

Vicia Almond Noir, 1.83 oz - Value $3.00

This chocolate and almond energy bar is gluten free, soy free, dairy free, and non-GMO - all things I like to see! The bar has 210 calories with 10 grams of protein and is sweetened with dates and other natural sweeteners.

Urthbox-january-2017-0013

Inside, the almond filling is somewhere between creamy and cakey. I prefer bars that have a little bit of crunch to them. The flavor was pretty good but went a little weird at the end. Overall, I feel good about the ingredients in this bar but would not seek it out again due to the texture and flavor.

Better Than Coffee Energy Bar, Dark Chocolate Coconut - Value $1.99

I know this is a popular energy bar for lots of folks who want a plant-based caffeine boost so I was excited to give it a try. I like most dark chocolate but am not super into the texture of coconut so I knew this could go either way. I took one bite and knew this was not for me! Way too bitter. I think anyone who loves very dark, bitter chocolate would be so into this bar, though!

Urthbox-january-2017-0016

This dark chocolate bar has sunflower, pumpkin, and sesame seeds for crunch which is great. I liked the texture of this bar, despite the desiccated coconut but just couldn't handle the bitterness.

Living Raw Darkest Cacao Truffles - Value $4.49

These raw truffles were the hit of the box for me! The cacao nibs make a wonderfully crunchy exterior with a smooth and rich center. I gobbled these up very quickly. This box was a bit of a chocolate overload but I absolutely loved these truffles. They are vegan, raw, organic, gluten-free, and non-GMO. I would absolutely pick these up at a store if I saw them and might even be tempted to order some to be shipped right to me.

Yum!

MESTRENGTH, Orange - Value $1.20

This workout water additive has electrolytes and creatine for muscle recovery. I am not super active and don't do much from which my muscles need recovery but this would be great for anyone who does! The powder is sweetened with stevia and is meant to be mixed into 20oz of water. I mixed the powder with cold filtered water - the powder is white out of the packages but turns the water orange as you mix it. The flavor was very good! It was just the right amount of sweet with a nice orange flavor. I really enjoyed this drink mix!

The box also included a $100 wine voucher from Nakedwines.

Verdict: I calculated the value for this box is at $12.03 with some Amazon bulk buy prices. You'd probably pay a little more for these items in a store, though you'd still be close to the $12.99 price paid for the box. This box didn't have the balance of salty and sweet that I have liked in previous boxes. This month had a chocolate and orange/citrus theme which I must admit is not my favorite combo. The Live Raw truffles were delicious and the only item from this box that I would seek out to purchase again. I hope next month's box has more varied flavors.

I think the prices are off at the top of the review (it says it’s $19.99 for the mini, but in the verdict you have the right price of $12.99, I think.) Just a little confusing, but the box looks interesting!
