Usually, Beauteque's themes are irrelevant to their curation so I wouldn't give it too much thought. February's theme is "Love is in the air."
This month's bag features an 8-bit pixel houndstooth pattern, which I'm not a fan of at all. However, I like the textured vinyl material-- it's water resistant and therefore good to use around the bathroom sink. The bag also has a wide bottom and lined interior.
On: The Body Cherry Blossom Nourishing Body Lotion, 400 ml/13.5 oz - Value $16.99
On: is a new brand for me. This body lotion has a sweet cherry blossom fragrance with a pretty large sillage. The lotion has medium-thick consistency, absorbs quickly, and leaves skin silky soft and smooth. No stickiness at all! I really like the scent but it's a little too strong. This will have to be used in moderation. Also, the bottle is huge so it'll last me a very long time.
Mizon Collagen Power Firming Eye Cream, 10 ml/0.34 oz - Value $11.00
This eye cream is formulated to strengthen and hydrate the skin around your eyes. It contains marine collagen, organic argan oil, adenosine, and hyaluronic acid to improve the skin's elasticity. I have tried this before and found it generally likable. That said, I'm not looking for powerful anti-aging eye creams, so as long as it hydrates it's good enough for me. The cream has a gel-like consistency, applies smoothly, and settles to a slightly tacky finish. If used sparingly, I can layer it under concealer with no issues.
Yolonoly Macaron Hand Cream (Pink), 40 g/1.35 oz - Value $9
This hand cream tops the list for adorable skincare packaging, box and all. It has a medium to thick consistency and smells like buttercream icing. Despite its relative thickness, the cream absorbs very easily and leaves skin velvety soft with no tackiness. Two thumbs up!
Tony Moly Kiss Kiss Lip Essence Balm, 0.25 oz - Value $9.99
This colorless lip balm contains honey extract to nourish and soothe chapped lips. The packaging, in typical Tony Moly fashion, is way too cute. Not only that, but the lip balm smells like honey and flowers and it has SPF 15. The formula is moisturizing without being too sticky. This is perfect for applying right before bed so that it nourishes your lips overnight.
Annie's Way Jelly Spray, 12 ml/0.41 oz - Value $12
I'm familiar with Annie's Way and their jelly masks that were sent in the September 2016 BB Bag. This item was shipped separately from the box-- Beauteque promptly emailed subscribers about the situation before shipping started. I received this Jelly Spray about a week after getting the original shipment.
The spray has a very light scent, so light that it's barely noticeable to me. True to its name, it has a thick jelly consistency. When I first pat it into my face, the formula feels tacky. However, when it fully absorbs (in about 30 seconds) the spray dries to a silky smooth finish. No sticky residue at all! Overall, this is hydrating, lightweight, and non-sticky-- everything I want in my ideal skincare.
Beauteque Bunny Ears Headband - Value $7
This is a headband made from soft, fuzzy fabric. It has the Beauteque logo on one of the ears. It features an elastic band in the middle and bendable metal on the ends to make the ears stand up.
The headband is a great idea but not-so-great execution. Maybe my head is too large, but it's hard to tie the ends together. There's definitely a learning curve involved if you want to get that perfect "bunny ear" look. I think I prefer the slip-on headbands better.
Verdict: This was a great month! My favorite discovery is the Annie's Way Jelly Spray. Also, I will use every single item. I do think having a body lotion and hand cream in one box is a little overkill. Other than that, the brand diversity is great. The total value is about $66, which is more than twice the cost of the box. Now that winter is close to ending, I hope that Beauteque will look to curate spring and summer-centric items soon.
