The theme of this month's box is "The Ties That Bind." I love that this box is also Southern-themed! Everything is from Tennessee (except the book), and this is apparently where the curators are from. I love people from Tennessee! This list was included, detailing the contents of this month's package.

All Over but the Shoutin' by Rick Bragg - Value $3.98 on Amazon (retail value $16)

This memoir is a page turner so far! I am actually really trying to finish this review so I can get back to reading it! From Amazon:

This haunting, harrowing, gloriously moving recollection of a life on the American margin is the story of Rick Bragg, who grew up dirt-poor in northeastern Alabama, seemingly destined for either the cotton mills or the penitentiary, and instead became a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for The New York Times. It is the story of Bragg's father, a hard-drinking man with a murderous temper and the habit of running out on the people who needed him most.

But at the center of this soaring memoir is Bragg's mother, who went eighteen years without a new dress so that her sons could have school clothes and picked other people's cotton so that her children wouldn't have to live on welfare alone. Evoking these lives--and the country that shaped and nourished them--with artistry, honesty, and compassion, Rick Bragg brings home the love and suffering that lie at the heart of every family. The result is unforgettable.

Apple & Lavender Soap with Spirit by Good Fortune Soap - Value $6

This soap smells so incredible. The addition of apple to the lavender smells like magic! It actually smells a bit like honeysuckle somehow. I love a great smelling soap! It lathers well, too.

Notepad by Tiramisu Paperie - Value $10

I have received paper goods from Tiramisu Paperie in subscription boxes before, and I just love their products. They are great quality, and they always have interesting and clever prints. Plus bonus, I love e.e. cummings!

Tennessee Wildflower Honey Shortbread Cookies by Willa's Shortbread - Value $6.25

This was an exceptional snack inclusion. These shortbread cookies had such an amazing aroma. They smelled like flowers! They tasted so good too - melted in my mouth!

Fernvale Light Roast Coffee by First District Coffee Co. - Value $13?

I prefer medium roast coffee, but this light roast was absolutely delicious! It had low acidity, and a good, earthy flavor. Yum!

Verdict: Beautiful Madness Book Case has become one of my favorite subscription boxes! I usually love everything they send, and this month is no exception. I felt like it was all so beautifully curated. And of course, I loved the Southern theme! The value this month comes to $39.23. This value is a little low for what I've come to expect from Beautiful Madness, but primarily because Amazon very recently put this book on super sale for some reason (overstock maybe?). Literally yesterday the total value would have been several dollars higher. Considering that book boxes tend to run a little low in value generally, I am still okay with this value.

Is there a certain genre they tend to focus on or do they pick books from all genres?
