Now, onto the items!

Beauty-Box-5-March-2017-0013

Prestige Cosmetics True Metals Eyeshadow in Gilded - FULL SIZE! Value $9.75

Beauty-Box-5-March-2017-0015

This eyeshadow goes on so smoothly, and it has excellent pigment and shimmer, too. It's a stunning gold, and I love it! (Swatched in lower photo.)

Beauty-Box-5-March-2017-0010

Bellapierre Cosmetics Cosmetic Glitter in Spectra - FULL SIZE! Value $15

Beauty-Box-5-March-2017-0012

This silver micro glitter is has a holographic sparkle that catches the light beautifully. You will need some heavy duty glitter glue primer to keep it in place, though.

Here it is swatched beneath the eye shadow:

Beauty-Box-5-March-2017-0021

As you can see, without primer I could only get a little glitter to stick. That eyeshadow, though!

Beauty-Box-5-March-2017-0019

Manna Kadar Lash Extending Primer - 4 g FULL SIZE? Value $24

(This is a small tube compared to a regular sized mascara, but based on this listing I believe it is full-size.)

Beauty-Box-5-March-2017-0020

This primer goes on white but dries clear (and it is invisible under mascara anyway). It provided good lash definition and length, so I was able to use less of my regular mascara. Nothing ground-breaking here, but I'll definitely use the entire sample!

Beauty-Box-5-March-2017-0008

Sweep Lashes - Value $15

Beauty-Box-5-March-2017-0009

While these lashes didn't come with glue, I appreciate that we get a set of 5! These lashes aren't as realistic looking as some I've tried, but if you're going for fake lash drama, I don't think that matters too much.

Beauty-Box-5-March-2017-0017

Sweep Lash Helper - Value $10

Beauty-Box-5-March-2017-0016

This set also came with a tweezer tool for applying lashes. I love this addition! (Since there are no sharp pointy ends, these are way better to use than regular tweezers.)

Verdict: This month's Beauty Box 5 has a value of about $73.75! I think that's great for a $12 box! I'm continually impressed with Beauty Box 5, and I think it's a great beauty box if you are looking for value and are OK with getting a mix of drugstore and more high-end brands.

What do you think about the March Beauty Box 5? Did you like this month’s lashes theme? What eye shadow color did you get?

FYI - If you sign up for a Beauty Box 5 subscription by the 21st of March, the March box will be your first box!

The Manna Kadar lash primer is the only thing in the box not full size. On the card, on the bottom, is a little guide that says everything with the heart next to its name is full size. The Manna Kadar does not have the heart.

Dang nice box this month is it still possible to get it?

I really liked my box. I use lash primer almost every day and was happy to see one in my box. I got the eyeshadow in copper, probably not my favorite color, but it works so well when you’re trying to create a more natural looking smoky eye. Lashes and tool were definitely fun to get, but really wished a small vial of glue was included! I haven’t worn false lashes in ages and actually got kind of excited until I realized, yeah, gotta go buy glue. The glitter is probably my least favorite thing as its just too messy and I used some $4 glitter about 20 years ago that was way better. I’ll still use it, age be damned! It’s a sample box after all.

“… age be damned …”, LOL, love your attitude!

While I understand people saying that you are never too old for something, I think that you CAN be, especially when it comes to looking professional. I am a soon-to-be-veterinarian in my 40s who used to be a college instructor and then a corporate trainer, and there is no way I would wear glitter or many other things in this box. It’s a fun box, and I have enjoyed a few things the last few months, but I am definitely “too old” for it. And that’s okay!

I am 47 and wear false lashes to work every day. I even wore the glitter eyeshadow. It all depends on HOW you wear it. I got so many compliments on that eyeshadow and from women my age and older. Oh and I’m an accountant. Don’t let age restrict you. If you like something, wear it. Now clothes are a different story. 😄

bunnygirlbrem

I don’t wear anything beauty related in my downtime; it’s my DOWNtime. I’m in the demographic that needs everything to be professional or nothing at all. (This is especially true when I’m on call.) And I like it that way! 🙂 A blanket statement that “anyone can wear anything at some time” isn’t true.

Bunny, I hear you and I hear what the others are saying. I don’t think it’s your age that makes glitter and false lashes inappropriate (they should be okay for social occasions), but it sounds like they are not to your taste at this point in your life. Nothing wrong with that – you’re not in a glam, adventurous stage right now, beautywise. So even though my 49 year old face is sporting the glitter (I don’t do false lashes either), if it’s not right for you, it’s not right for you. Either gift it to someone who will love it, or look at boxes with a more sophisticated selection. Not Ipsy, Boxycharm, BB5…maybe you’re more of a Birchbox, Glossybox, Look Fantastic kind of woman. Have fun figuring it out, and good luck in your new career!

Rosemary

My DOWNtime is FUNtime! I am sorry that yours isn’t.

Rosemary

I agree that I would not like to see my veterinarian wearing glitter or false lashes to work; he would look like Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
However, when a lady who is older than 40 considers what makeup they might wear in their down-time, false lashes and frosted eye shadow should not be immediately precluded just because of a bit of crepiness.
The problem is that people typically don’t know how to apply these items in a manner that is flattering, and this applies to all age brackets (think of being a teenager with a black eyeliner). While I will be saving the glitter for Halloween, the rest of the items in this box can easily be used by all.
I have to ask…who thought anyone here was suggesting wearing false lashes and glitter to the office? It sounds like someone has a party-animal inside who wants to get out.

Bunny, you can still enjoy these items out of work. Girls night out, date night, even going shopping alone. I understand you can’t be walking around with glitter or fake lashes on you at work, but you can use these items out of work.

And if you say you are too old, that means I am too old because I believe we are around the same age. Waaaaaaa…I am not old I tells ya!!!! hahaha. I still feel like I am in my early 30’s 🙂

Oh, and I agree with some of the women, this box is so much better than birchbox, ipsy, allure and any other “cheaper” type boxes. I love love love this box!!! (except that lip box hehe)

It makes me so sad to hear people say that they are too old for this or that be it clothes or makeup. I am 56 and I wear what I feel makes me pretty. I realize everyone has a right to their opinion but please don’t ever think there are rules because there isn’t.

Luna

I fully agree! The only time I feel “too old” for something, is when I physically can’t do something I used to be able to do without even thinking about it. I’m young at heart, and can easily get excited over the simplest things, plus I refuse to force myself into situations (i.e. societal deemed “rights of passages”) just because I’ve reached (or am reaching) a certain age. In line with what you said… I always say do what makes YOU happy. If someone has a problem with it, then it’s exactly that… THEIR problem. In fact, I have this cute daily calendar message posted on my cubicle that says, “Here’s to another year of complete disregard of age-appropriate developmental milestones.” Ha! 😀

Kerri

I agree! I’m 45 and my 15 year old daughter says things about some of my tshirts or pants that I’m too old. I say but I like it, so I’m wearing it. Who says you’re too old to wear anything on your face or body? If you think it doesn’t look good on you that’s different.

I personally don’t like a “theme” box. I HATED last month lip box, we must have 20 lip products that aren’t even open yet hanging around the house! Same with mascara, those 2 seem to be the most common in boxes.

I like a mix of items, hair/skin/tools/makeup….not just one theme. With that being said, my daughter grabbed everything and loved it all, I got nothing. hahaha

Ohhhh we got Pewter eye shadow, holy pigment!!! So beautiful!!! I think that would look lovely on older women.

This box looks so good. I can’t wait for my box to arrive which I hope will be soon

The Manna Kadar is not a full size (BB5 noted that in the enclosed card, too – the full-size items receive a heart icon). The value is actually $11.67. Still a great month!

I thought this months box was fun. My eye shadow color was Copper and it was just beautiful. My teenage daughter took the lashes, tool and glitter and I kept the shadow and lash primer. It’s a fun box to share with her.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

I think the Manna Kadar lash primer is half size at 4g. We got the same item in this months Benevolent Beauty Box except it’s 8 grams and listed as full size at $24. Either way, primer lasts a while 🙂

I got this box with the Black Friday yearly deal so I’m only paying like $7 a box and for that price, it is awesome! I’ve always wanted to try out false lashes and this will give me the perfect opportunity to play around with them and not feel guilty about messing them up or wasting them. Anyone got a recommendation for a good inexpensive lash glue? That’s the only thing this box was missing. I got the Pewter shadow and wow, is it pigmented! I love it. The only thing in this box that I probably won’t use is the glitter but I have two daughters who are 15 and 4 so I’m sure it won’t go to waste.

Sally

Duo eyelash glue is the best.

Cindy

This is the first box that I haven’t liked anything in from BB5. I like the fact that they had a theme for this box, I just wish it was something else. My daughter loves fake lashes and glitter so the box will be perfect for her.

Dianne

Love it! I unsubscribed for awhile but in a few months I’ll resubcribe. I’m trying some new subscriptions for a few months. I got this box for 3 months. I used everything I got and I don’t where false lashes yet but I know I would love to try them but I was going to buy some off the shop miss a site their a dollar they also have got rainbow highlighters that are new. I like this subscription more than Allure and Birchbox. But Boxycharm and Ipsy are my favorites. Im trying Monthly Box of Awesome this month and next I couldn’t miss out on the Cooper pan in this months box. I should get this months box soon.

Great box. Even though i dont wear lashes or use glitter, i love the variety of eye products. Honestly the eyeshadow is so gorgeous it made the whole box for me. I’m going to try to get more colors!

Reply ButtonReply

Rosemary

Hi Jen! I will probably be swapping my eyeshadow (only because I have too much makeup already). Do you have a swap name or an item that I can look up to find you? I am I_like_big_swaps!

Jen

I’m just Jen on the swap page. Im looking for pewter. List it and I’ll find it! 😉

The eyeshadow made the whole box for me, too! 🙂

This is Box for me is a disappointment. I’m too old for glitter and fake lashes. This is my second Beauty Box 5. Hopefully next months will be better, if not I will probably cancel.

Reply ButtonReply

Rosemary

Heaven forbid! You are never too old for glitter and false lashes.

lynnkostelnik

Hang in there Ang, I am 53 and this is the 1st box out of 8 that is too young for me. All the rest have worked out great. I am wearing the heck out of the wink lip products that came a couple of boxes ago.

My favorite less than $10 box. Getting at 8.75. I will gift the lashes to my daughter. Although Boxy Charm is my favorite make up box for obvious reasons, this is a fun little box that I consider better than Ipsy or Birchbox. I’m not a fan of samples only. Thanks Liz.

This was my first BB5. Sadly I had to list everything up on swap. I hate glitter and I just can’t use super metallic eyes hadow anymore on my aging eyes. And even so Pewter isn’t a good color for me. The copper or gilded would have been better. I’ve tried lash primers and have never seen them have any effect for me. I also don’t use big fake eyelashes, but I do work with professional models and we will use them in photo shoots so that wasn’t a complete waste. I never judge a sub by one box so I’ll wait and see how the next one works out for me.

My mom says the same thing about shimery/ metallic eyeshadow, she says she cant wear it bc shes older 🙁 but i think it looks sooooo beautiful on her. I loooovve the way it accentuates depth 😍😍😍. She was really digging mates but i think shes warming up to more “youthful” finishes finally 🐣

Julia

I actually already have and use a couple of gorgeous metallic shadows in copper and I love them, but the silver/pewter shades really make me look tired, metallic or not. The Hikari copper that came in Ipsy was perfect for me. It’s easy to make yourself look more tired and older if you aren’t careful with how you apply your shadows as you age. It’s all about finding the right products and learning about application. This one just didn’t work for me though.

I have nothing against false lashes at any age! These are just too extreme for my personal taste to wear. This box was a miss for me, but so was Boxycharm this month. But this quarter’s Beautycon was a huge winner for me. That’s the fun of sub boxes, you just never really know. 😀
