BOXO is a subscription box that sends freshly roasted, whole bean coffee directly to your doorstep.
Each month, BOXO travels to a different city in America to find that city’s best roasters. They choose their two favorites and send subscribers a bag from each roaster.
Freshness is a top priority for BOXO, and they ensure that subscribers receive their beans within five days of them being roasted.

BOXO boxes contain two different coffees from two different roasters in Lincoln, Nebraska: Canyon Coffee Roasts and The Coffee Roaster.
I also received a card announcing the launch of BOXO’s new online store!
Canyon Coffee Roasters Sumatra Gayo Mountain (12 oz.) - Value $11.66
This month’s first BOXO pick is a Sumatran coffee from Lincoln’s Canyon Coffee Roasters. The bag felt a bit heavier than usual, so I decided to pop it onto my kitchen scale. Just as I suspected, this bag contains a full 12 oz. of coffee, instead of the usual 8 oz. BOXO sends! Huzzah for bonus coffee!
Sumatran Coffees tend to be polarizing (people often love them or hate them), and unfortunately, I fall into the latter camp. Sumatran coffees are known for their earthy, herbaceous quality, and roasters will often darkly roast the beans to bring out those flavors.
As someone who prefers bright, lightly roasted coffees, It’s rare for me to find a Sumatran coffee that I really love. Sadly, this coffee is no exception.
Coffee Roaster Panama (8 oz.)- Value $9.33
This month’s second bag is a Panamanian coffee from Lincoln’s Coffee Roaster.
The first thing I noticed about this coffee is that the beans are a bit darker than I usually prefer (and a bit darker than BOXO usually sends).
The tasting notes include cocoa, earth, and caramel, and I think this coffee definitely exhibits those characteristics. This isn’t a coffee that I’d likely purchase again, but I enjoyed trying it. The Coffee Roaster also offers a monthly subscription!
Verdict: I’ve been reviewing BOXO for quite a while now, and it’s become one of the subscriptions that I look forward to most each month. I love trying new coffees from roasters across the country, and BOXO’s curation is fantastic. This month was a bit of a miss for me, personally, but it’s a rare miss. (I think this is the first time I’ve received a shipment from BOXO where I didn't love both of the included coffees.) In terms of value, I received about $21 worth of coffee for $29. Considering the curation of this box and the fact that shipping is free, I’m okay with that.
What do you think of this month’s BOXO? Are you familiar with either of the roasters featured in this month’s box?
