subscription boxes comparison: boxycharm, glossybox, and beautyfix

Dermstore BeautyFIX
4.1 overall rating
314 Ratings | 45 Reviews

This new Boxycharm vs GlossyBox vs BeautyFix series compares my subscription every month to give you a good idea what you can expect from these popular beauty subscription boxes. (Boxycharm and GlossyBox are both $21 a month, and BeautyFix is $24.95 a month, so they seemed close enough in cost to compare!)

Check out my Birchbox vs Ipsy vs Sephora Play post series too!

Important to know: With Glossybox and Boxycharm, there are certain items that all subscribers will receive, but the remainder of items in the box will vary. With BeautyFix, all items are the same for all subscribers. (With the exception of perhaps different colors of a beauty item.)

Favorite item in the box:  Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator

It's hard to pick a favorite item in this box - I love everything! But Dr. Brandt won out because of value. ($79)

If you aren’t familiar with this exfoliator, it is an ultra-fine scrub you can use 1-2 times a week. I love the minty fresh scent, and how smooth it makes my skin feel. (I’ve seen a lot of reviewers mention it helped them with whiteheads/acne, etc.)

Favorite item in the box: Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat

I've been using this gel coat regularly since getting the box. It helps strengthen nails, and it also provides an instant shine and pink hue that makes nails look healthier. (And it dries almost instantly, too.)

Beauty-Fix-February-2017-0003

Beauty Fix February 2017 (Check out the full BeautyFix review)

Number of items: 6

Brands featured: Juice Beauty, Smart FX, LaRoche-Posay, Kevyn Aucoin, SkinMedica, By Terry

Categories featured: Makeup (3)  Skincare (3)

Favorite item in the box: Juice Beauty PHYTO-PIGMENTS Illuminating Primer

There wasn't a standout favorite for me this month, but the Juice Beauty primer is lovely. It gave my skin a subtle luminous glow. It’s a very natural looking finish (i.e. no sparkles) and made my skin feel a little smoother and primed for foundation.

Verdict: My favorite box this month is Boxycharm. Every item is a win - and it's a great mix of products I already know and love, and some items that are new to me. (Plus I love that they included a Z-palette since they sometimes send pans only for makeup items.)

What was your favorite box for February? And what was your favorite product?

Here are my general suggestions for which box to pick:

Boxycharm: If you are looking for full-size makeup, this is the box to go for. They consistently send out makeup in addition to haircare and skincare products. (You will quickly build up an impressive eyeshadow collection with this subscription box!)

GlossyBox: This is the best box if you're looking for trying out brands that you typically don't see in the US. You'll get a mix of US and EU brands. The one downside is that values of these boxes can vary depending on which variation you get, so make sure you're happy with the main spoiler items that everyone gets if you're thinking about signing up.

BeautyFix: This is my go-to box for sampling a lot of high-end skincare products. They usually round out the boxes with a few makeup and haircare products, too. You'll get a mix of full-size and sample-size products.

Starting at $21.95

I used to got 1 year sub with glossybox (deal price 8 per month). I still do not enjoy them even with this price. 😢

I subbed all 3 and GlossyBox is my least favorite by far. I’m considering unsub from GB after next month.

BeautyFix by far! I’m more into skin care as I don’t like to wear much makeup. I love my BeautyFix so much, I have 2 subs with them!

Never was attracted to Glossybox. After 6 months of subbing 14 boxes I am downsizing now, but BoxyChart and Beautybox definitely will be a keepers, rest would have to go (well, I will probably keep Facetory too)

Beauty Fix is my favorite sub box. I almost always use everything I get and I’m seriously considering ordering two a month. Glossy Box has been pretty good for me, but this is my last month with them. I just can’t deal with perfume and don’t have time to do the swap thing. I would love to try Boxycharm, but I seem to be indefinitely waitlisted.

I’m subbed to both BoxyCharm and BeautyFix. This month will be my 3rd BC and I just got my 1st BF. I love them both!!! I’ve never tried GlossyBox bc I was kinda underwhelmed by the youtube reviews that I’ve seen.

I used to subscribe to all three boxes. Now, I only have Beautyfix which has been consistently good.
Glossybox was underwhelming most of the time, the customer care is lacking and there was always some kind of drama with shipment.
Boxycharm was terrific but I am on makeup overload and prefer skincare over makeup. I may re-sub to boxycharm again once I’ve used up my stash. This was always a fun box but a girl just can’t use that much eye shadow…although some of you sure might be able to! 🙂

The Glossybox LE Rituals box was the most amazing!!! I thought Beautyfix was good this month too, I didn’t swap anything from it.

I wish they had an option for rituals without the perfume. That is such a tempting box-I think it’s still available too.
