subscription boxes comparison: boxycharm, glossybox, and beautyfix

This new Boxycharm vs GlossyBox vs BeautyFix series compares my subscription every month to give you a good idea what you can expect from these popular beauty subscription boxes. (Boxycharm and GlossyBox are both $21 a month, and BeautyFix is $24.95 a month, so they seemed close enough in cost to compare!)

Check out my Birchbox vs Ipsy vs Sephora Play post series too!

Important to know: With Glossybox and Boxycharm, there are certain items that all subscribers will receive, but the remainder of items in the box will vary. With BeautyFix, all items are the same for all subscribers. (With the exception of perhaps different colors of a beauty item.)

Favorite item in the box: EVOLVh SuperFinish Polishing Balm

EVOLVh is a high-end, pricey, ingredient-conscious brand that I love, so I was thrilled to see a full-sized product from them in this box! It's a lightweight hair styling cream that smells lovely - I've been using it every day since getting this box!

Verdict: It's a tough pick this month, but I'm going with BeautyFix because I really loved all their full size and deluxe size items this month - which makes the box an amazing value for me.

What was your favorite box for March? And what was your favorite product?

Here are my general suggestions for which box to pick:

Boxycharm: If you are looking for full-size makeup, this is the box to go for. They consistently send out makeup in addition to haircare and skincare products. (You will quickly build up an impressive eyeshadow collection with this subscription box!)

GlossyBox: This is the best box if you're looking for trying out brands that you typically don't see in the US. You'll get a mix of US and EU brands. The one downside is that values of these boxes can vary depending on which variation you get, so make sure you're happy with the main spoiler items that everyone gets if you're thinking about signing up.

BeautyFix: This is my go-to box for sampling a lot of high-end skincare products. They usually round out the boxes with a few makeup and haircare products, too. You'll get a mix of full-size and sample-size products.

I subscribe to all three of these boxes, still new, only started last month, I had to wait for boxycharm. But so far I’m thinking boxycharm and beautyfix are the winners. My glossybox wasn’t bad, but something about it doesn’t quite justify the cost to me. March’s beautyfix was great, definitely worth the cost in my opinion, and I can see myself using everything. I love boxycharm, more makeup oriented and full sized, and I get my skin care fix from beautyfix. New beauty test tube is kind of a joke.

“It’s a tough pick this month” – I never have this problem, I subscribe all three of them :))

I’d been grumbling to myself about most boxes not having much in the way of eye shadow, so I’m really happy that BoxyCharm will fill in there for me. These reviews help so very much, as I always want more makeup. Skincare is eh, and all haircare items except for some dry shampoo and some mousse go right up for swap.

I can’t thank MSA enough for helping me quickly find the right boxes for me, rather than have to spend a lot of money on trial and error.

I’m not into makeup too much, so it’s BeautyFix by far for me!!!

Hi Liz,
Have you ever thought of throwing Lookfantastic into the mix? Or maybe doing a comparison of only Beauty Fix & Lookfantastic. I know there’s a $6 difference between the boxes, but Lookfantastic usually does only one makeup item like Beauty Fix, and I’m guessing those who like Beauty Fix might like Lookfantastic, despite the price difference, since they both tend to offer the same mix of products. Hmmm, but then again Beauty Fix does usually throw in full-sized products, and I don’t think Lookfantastic usually does….. well, it’s just a thought. 🙂 Or, maybe Lookfantastic could be compared to Allure?

I’m loving my new sub to beauty fix. I’m not a huge makeup or eye shadow lover, so I’m not going crazy over boxycharm like many people on here seem to be. I do like glossybox, as I used to sub to it for about 6 months and I may sub again if I see another good deal. Thanks for doing these comparisons; it really helped me in deciding between the 3. Obviously, beautyfix won for me. 🙂

Beauty fix was awesome. I loved every single item. Didn’t swap a thing.

I now have two subs to BeautyFix, I love it so much. The eye palette in Glossy is beautiful, but the colors fade before lunch, so I nixed it.

Boxy Charm is my white whale of sub boxes. I’ve never had a company not let me purchase their product month after month the way they do.

How long have you been on the wait list?

A

Since early February. I just got a reply to an email I sent them asking if I could get off the waitlist if I signed up for six months and they said no. I’m guessing that means I’ll be waiting through April.

Interesting comparison and fun to read. I use to subscribe to boxycharm and beautyfix, Stopped both of them because I was getting too much stuff that I really will never use. I started donating a lot of it. Glossybox has never appealed to me. I’m finding that I like what I have and so I don’t miss either one of these. I do enjoy reading about them though. It helps me know that while they are fun to read about I don’t really miss them.

Agreed! I got the exact same variations on all 3 of mine that you did, and loved my Beauty Fix the best!
