The EsianMall Beauty Box describes itself as a "Geek Chic Beauty Box". Each month, you'll receive a geek-chic item as well as a selection of Asian beauty products (mostly centered around skincare). They offer two versions of the beauty box: a monthly "Spa" box, for $24.95, or a larger, bi-monthly "Glamour" box for $59.95.

There are a few info cards in the box. This card describes the products in both Beauty Boxes. I thought it was interesting that they use a QR code. I had to download a QR reader to my phone in order to find the info. The code links you to the EsianMall site, where you can buy the items listed.

There's also a card encouraging you to refer a friend to get a discount. The back of the card has a coupon code you can use on the EsianMall site store.

Kiyou Ultra Intense Sweat Bath Volcanic Ash - Value $3.49

I've heard of these sweat baths before—essentially, the potions in these salts help warm up the body, encouraging you to sweat out all kinds of toxins and such. I definitely felt the sweaty warmth. The best way to describe it is having a low-key version of that feeling you get when you eat spicy food and your lips are warm, but not uncomfortably so, all over your body. I don't know if I'd do it again, but it was a unique experience to try out! Detoxifying? Not sure. But my skin does feel smooth and refreshed.

Pig Nose Blackhead Cleansing Sugar Scrub - Value $7.87

I don't have a lot of blackheads anymore, but I do get larger pores that need some attention now and then. Sugar scrubs are my favorite way to really exfoliate my skin without being too harsh on it.

Check out our review of the EsianMall BeautyBox for January 2017!

This scrub had the texture of a balm. The sugar crystals were pretty fine, so it was gentle on my face. More than anything, I felt like this lemon-scented scrub helped moisturize my skin while cleaning it. I'm not sure it did the heavy-duty exfoliation my skin appreciates most, but it did leave my face feeling soft and refreshed.

Heroes vs. Heroines Poster - Value $2.00

According to the EsianMall site, this is the theme of this month's box. The theme doesn't really carry across to the beauty items in the box (with the exception of a scarf, which we'll get to in a sec!), but it's still cool to get this Superman and Wonder Woman poster. Anyone else excited for the Wonder Woman movie?

TONY MOLY Magic Food Banana Hand Milk - Value $13.46

This little banana holds a creamy hand moisturizer that left my skin feeling silky soft. The feeling didn't last as long as I'd have liked, but it was helpful to have in a pinch. Plus, it was just fun to reach for a banana in my bag!

Check out our review of the EsianMall BeautyBox for January 2017!

But be prepared. This "banana milk" really smells like banana. Like, a lot. I love bananas to snack on. I love them in desserts. I love them in oatmeal and cereal. But there was something about this strong banana smell that was less "yay!" and more "oh... huh..." I wouldn't go so far as to say it was gross or anything, but it wasn't my favorite thing to have wafting my way all afternoon.

LEADERS INSOLUTION Collagen Lifting Skin Renewal Mask - Value $4.89

Sheet masks are one of my favorite rituals, though I'll admit that it's sometimes hard to discern the benefits right away. This mask had a lovely, light floral scent and felt cool and comfortable on my skin. The remaining serum absorbed cleanly into my face after I removed it so that my skin felt soft and refreshed. I don't know that I got the firming results that are advertised on the package, but I also appreciate that those results probably come from repeat use. But again, I like that sheet masks give me an excuse to chill out and do some self-care. While it might not have been immediately transformative, this mask was a lovely experience.

Bonus Spa Box Item: DC Comics Bombshell Viscose Infinity Scarf - Value $17.95

Remember the "Heroes vs. Heroines" theme? This bonus item is the other place where this geek-chic theme shows up.

Check out our review of the EsianMall BeautyBox for January 2017!

This semi-sheer scarf features lots of DC's most beloved ladies, including Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman, and more. I like the retro vibe of the designs. I definitely wouldn't have expected something at this price point to be a bonus item in the box, so this was a pleasant surprise.

Verdict: I think this EsianMall BeautyBox was fun, though I wasn't really wowed by any of the beauty products. Also, looking at the value of the box, I'm wondering if they wrongly named the scarf as the month's bonus item. The value without it is only about $32.00, which is below the guaranteed $40.00. On the other hand, if the poster was the bonus item, the scarf would bring the value up to about $48.00. That's more of a picky, labeling issue, rather than a serious concern, though. The banana cream seemed pretty pricey for what it was, and I wish the "geek" aspect of the box would come across a little more (the beauty products were fun novelty items, but they didn't scream "geek" to me). All of that said, it was a fun experience exploring these quirky products!

I don’t see how this is a deal kinda box at all! So your paying $25 for only $40 in the box 🤔 that isn’t worth it to me. I was wanting this box but after seeing the total value every month that I get it just isn’t worth the price per box . Thanks for reviewing.

Meh! Nothing geeky or amazing in the box! In fact it’s stuff you can buy the same stuff online for $23.82 with free shipping, including the scarf, that it’s cute, but you can get it at Walmart for $8.34 (also free shipping)
Very disappointing and not worth the price. I’d have expected some really new stuff that you couldn’t get anywhere else…It’s not special when you can find the same products in every wholesale site

That’s a whole lot of single use products (read: cheap to send as they’re bought in bulk). Compared to other similarly priced beauty subs this one falls far short.

Fun looking box, not sure if it’s “geeky” enough though. If the banana was somehow more gadget like or had a story with it I could see it 😉
Oh and btw that scarf is on Amazon for $9 w/ free shipping!

I will likely HAVE to get this scarf soon!

Yeah, I was confused by the “geeky” thing, too. It feels a little like they tacked that title on just to loop in some extra audience. If you’re expecting something super geeky, though, this box isn’t it. Awesome that you found that scarf elsewhere! Thanks so much for sharing, Marina!!!
