There still aren't themes for Horror Block (they're starting to introduce themes for their Classic Block), but you'll know at least 2-3 of the franchises in the box when the subscription period opens. This month featured The Purge, Silent Retreat, The Amityville Horror and Penny Dreadful.

Horror-Block-February-2017-0008

The Purge Shirt - Value $15?

The exclusive shirt features The Purge. I really like the design, but surprisingly haven't watched either movie yet, only pieces of the first one, which I enjoyed. I'll have to add it to the long list of movies and tv to watch!

Penny Dreadful Keychain - Value $10?

They teased at this item in the spoilers.

Horror-Block-February-2017-0013

This keychain is a callout to the scorpion symbol associated with Vanessa in Penny Dreadful - you can see it in a lot of the show's posters!

Horror-Block-February-2017-0014

I also like that it's made to look like a piece that might fit in the time period of the show.

Amityville Horror Tote - Value $5-10?

This mistake had us laughing while photographing this box - and if it happened to you too, reach out toe customer care via the live chat on their site.

Horror-Block-February-2017-0006

Our bag only had one handle - which was the true horror of this month!

Horror-Block-February-2017-0007

It's a thin material that is foldable for storage.

Amityville House Pin - Value $5-10?

Sticking with that Amityville theme, this month's enamel pin features the house.

Horror-Block-February-2017-0015

Silent Retreat DVD - Value $20 on Amazon

This month comes with a movie! Silent Retreat is a horror movie from 2014.

Horror-Block-February-2017-0016

I haven't seen this one, but the little snippet sounds intense:

Janey is sent to a silent meditation retreat in the middle of the woods for rehabilitation, only to discover that the men who run it are brainwashing women to be quiet and submissive, and if she breaks the rules, she'll discover what lurks beyond the trees...

Have you seen this one?

Horror-Block-February-2017-0018

Vault of the Macabre - Value $11 on Amazon

The next item is a paperback collection of short stories.

Horror-Block-February-2017-0019

A collection of 37 Delightfully twisted Macabre/Gothic poems with a vain of black humour throughout.

These are quick read stories - more like poems. It reminds me of an adult version of similar style scary story books I had as a child.

Horror-Block-February-2017-0023

Rue Morgue – $9.95

As always, they include an issue of Rue Morgue. If you’re a fan or Rue Morgue, then you really win out on this subscription because it covers the cost of shipping to the US.

Verdict: This month was only alright for me because it didn't touch on many franchises that I enjoy. I do like that they sent another movie - I feel like they could send one in every box and horror fans would love it.

I love when they send movies. I’m an Amityville fan so this one works out for me. I’m always happy to get a Rue Morgue.
