Clio Pro Play Eyelash Curler - Value $3.07
This month's accessory item is an eyelash curler (with one pad refill) from Clio. The same accessory has been featured in the January/February PinkSeoul and PinkSeoul Plus boxes. It's now my go-to curler. The curvature matches my eye shape perfectly and it doesn't pinch any skin. The handle is easy to grip as well. Never has curling my lashes been this painless!
Nature Republic Real Nature Hydrogel Mask in Grape - Listed Value $5
Subscribers receive one of ten types of masks based on their skin type and areas of concern. This is a two-piece hydrogel mask. The best part about this mask is that it smells like grape juice! The essence has a gel-like consistency, while the hydrogel adheres well to my skin due to its natural clinginess. The essence absorbs quickly while leaving skin matte and soft. After use, my face feels plump and soothed without any stickiness. I'm a big fan!
Leaders Collagen Boosting Renewal Mask - Value $5
Leaders Vita Brightening Renewal Mask - Value $5
These cotton masks from Leaders have a cooling watery essence, great mask fit, and strong sweet fragrance. The Collagen Boosting mask helps improve skin elasticity, increase firmness, and diminish the appearance of fine lines. The Vita Brightening mask contains Vitamin C derivatives to boost dull skin, minimize dark spots, brighten complexion, and give skin a healthy glow. My face feels super hydrated after wearing these masks, but there are no other noticeable effects. Sadly, the essence dries to a very sticky finish, which is not my favorite.
Manyo Factory Aqua Bonding Cream Mask - Value $3
This cotton mask is saturated with a milky cream essence that helps replenish moisture and give skin "an elegant glow." The mask fit is great and I like the powdery sweet fragrance as well. After use, my face is very hydrated and redness is diminished. The essence dries quickly to a slightly sticky finish. I think I prefer more watery formulas to milky ones, but this was a nice masking experience nonetheless.
Petitfee Resurrection Plant Soothing Gel Mask - Listed Value $3
Instead of a traditional watery essence, this mask contains gel essence infused with a berry mix complex and true rose of Jericho extract. I like the mask material and fit-- it completely covers the contours of my face and leaves just enough space for the eyes. It has a pleasant floral fragrance. The essence is relatively thick and sticky like they claim, which alludes to a sticky finish as well. After use, the essence absorbs fairly quickly to a slightly sticky finish. My face feels super hydrated, yes, but I can feel the residue resting on my skin, which isn't very comfortable. In the end, I had to gently wipe off some of the essence before continuing with the rest of my skincare routine.
Nature Republic Coconut Bio Skin Multi Patch - Value $3.38
These patches are made of bio-cellulose material, which is thinner than your usual hydrogel patches but still retain plenty of essence and adheres to skin even just as well. They're shaped like commas and are multi-functional-- you can use them under eyes, cheeks, smile lines, or wherever you feel needs a moisture boost. I chose to put them on my under eye area.
Each patch is protected by two cover slips to facilitate an easier application process. I feel a nice, gentle cooling sensation while they're on the skin. The sensation is noticeable for about 10 minutes before disappearing. After use, my under eye areas are plump, hydrated, and less puffy-looking. I would definitely use these again as a refreshing pick-me-up after a long day.
Goodal Water Full Mask in Firming - Value $2.36
Goodal Water Full Mask in Whitening - Value $2.36
These are cotton sheet masks from the skincare brand Goodal. Subscribers receive two of four mask types from the Water Full line. I received the Firming and Whitening types. Both masks have a sharp floral fragrance, superb mask fit, and soothing watery essence. After masking, the essence absorbs quickly, leaving skin plump, soft and fully hydrated. Both masks leave my face with a smooth, non-tacky finish.
Despite there being two types of masks with different advertised benefits, they give me essentially the same results. For example, the Whitening mask calms redness and brightens my skin to the same degree as the Firming mask.
It's Skin Fresh Mask in Rose - Listed Value $2
It's Skin Fresh Mask in Bamboo - Listed Value $2
Subscribers receive two of seven types of masks from the It's Skin Fresh Mask line. The Rose mask smells like soft roses and is designed to boost moisture and vitality. The Bamboo mask smells like aloe vera gel, and it is designed to boost moisture. I like the mask fit and the watery essence. After use, my skin feels refreshed and hydrated with no sticky residue whatsoever. The best part is that my acne and redness look noticeably calmed afterward. I like the Bamboo one more just because the scent is more pleasing to me, but they perform equally well.
Skinfood Black Raspberry Eye Cream For Face sample
Included in the box but not listed on the card are two samples. This eye cream has an unusual half bitter, half sweet herbal fragrance, which is a little disappointing because I was definitely expecting the smell of raspberry. While thick, the cream absorbs fairly quickly and leaves skin very supple.
Berrisom Timetox Revitalizing Essence sample
This essence has a gel-cream consistency. It smells like very generic hand soap, which confused me a little. Although the essence is super moisturizing, it lies on top of the skin without sinking in. It never fully dries either-- I really dislike the tacky feeling. I don't think this essence is a good match for my skin type.
Verdict: I'm pleased with the selection of masks in this month's box! The Nature Republic bio-cellulose Multi Patch and Real Nature Hydrogel Mask get shout outs because they're made of extra fancy material and completely new to me. The total value is $36.17, which is higher than the cost of the box but on the lower end of their usual value count. I do hope PinkSeoul focuses even more on uncommon or "fancy" masks because that is one of the things they're really good at. Also, I've noticed that the info cards are lacking the descriptive pizzazz that they used to have. While this isn't a big deal, sometimes it's not clear why a particular mask type is chosen for my skin type over the other options. This might be an area of improvement as well.
