This month’s theme is “The Gleam Team.”

On the very inside of the folded info sheet is thorough details and tips about each featured product:

Sephora-Play!-March-2017-0008

Now, onto the items!

Sephora-Play!-March-2017-0011

Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast – 3 oz Value $15

This is my kind of volumizer. First, it's from Living Proof, so I knew I'd love the scent and the ingredients. Next, it adds texture and volume without any stickiness. I applied it root to tip, giving most attention to my roots, and I was happy with the volume added. (It's subtle, but I'll take it!)

Sephora-Play!-March-2017-0018

GlamGlow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in “Nude Glow” – 0.24 oz, Value $6.92

I LOVE GlamGlow masks, so I was very interested in trying their moisturizer as soon as I learned about it. This moisturizer is available in 3 different tints, but this pink-hued version disappeared into my skin as soon as I applied it. (Non-blended in version Swatched in lower photo.)

I LOVE the scent (it's like a fruity candy), and it gave my skin a healthy, dewy look. (Not overly shimmery like I thought it might be when I saw it out of the tube.)

While it's lovely, it's not a game changer for me like some Glam Glow masks, so I won't be purchasing this in the full-size verison, but I love that Sephora included it in the box for me to try!

Sephora-Play!-March-2017-0013

Algenist Reveal Concentrated Lumizing Drops in Pearl - 7 ml Value $17.48

Sephora-Play!-March-2017-0014

This super shimmery formula is easy to blend, so you can still get subtle highlighter looks. I tried adding a few drops to my liquid foundation and loved the results. (Swatched in lower photo.)

Sephora-Play!-March-2017-0023

Benefit Cosmetics Watt’s Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter – 0.08 oz, Value $7.27

Sephora-Play!-March-2017-0024

Benefit samples are usually really tiny, but this highlighter stick is a good sized sample! Unlike the other two highlighters, this one actually has a powder finish, but it is still super easy to blend.

The color works well with my skin tone, too. (I've sampled this many times over the years and it's one of my favorite highlighters.)

Sephora-Play!-March-2017-0020

Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow in I-544 - .7 g Value $6

Sephora-Play!-March-2017-0022

This shade is described as a pink granite, and it has a shimmer finish. As with all Make Up For Ever products I've sampled so far, the pigment is fantastic!

Here it is swatched:

Sephora-Play!-March-2017-0025

Make Up For Ever Eye Shadow, Benefit Highlighter, Algenist Drops Highlighter, Glam Glow Highlighter (if you can see it!)

Sephora-Play!-March-2017-0015

Atelier Cologne in Clementine California

Each Play by Sephora bag also includes a perfume vial in addition to 5 beauty samples. This scent has notes of Clementine, Mandarin, Juniper Berries, Star Anise, Sichuan Pepper, Basilica, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Cypress.

I really liked this scent! I don't wear perfume often, but I'm keeping this vial around for the next time I do!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $52. I think that's incredible for a $10 beauty box, especially since the box will always include high-end brands. I'm really happy I got this box variation, too. I feel like I hit the highlighter jackpot!

What do you think about the March Play! by Sephora box? What variation did you get?

(And check out Haley's review of the box variation #444, too!)

I received this box version and was surprised how much I loved it. I have some scars on my cheeks so when I saw the theme this month was all highlighters, I was disappointed, but these were usable. The Glamglow though – am I the only one who can’t handle the scent? It is sooo sweet it gives me a headache, and I’m not usually sensitive to that kind of thing. The Living Proof was great, and even though the eyeshadow was a repeat it was one I happen to love. Good box this month.

I was really annoyed that I got the Make Up Forever eyeshadow. It’s an exact dupe from one I got a couple months ago! It’s not a bad shadow, but I don’t use it enough to justify wasting one of my samples getting it. That said, I liked the highlighters, especially the benefit one.

I liked the March box, but I didn’t get the eye shadow, illuminating drops or the Living Proof volumizer…I thought my box looked pretty bare this month!! On another note, I loved the Benefit highlighter, I’ll be buying the full size version of it soon. Overall, disappointed I didn’t get everything I should have.

I’m thinking of canceling this box, not only are the samples becoming more repetitive but I didn’t even receive my box this month. I was given tracking info after calling and complaining that my box had not shipped, then the tracking never updated so I called Sephora and they told me that my box was lost or misplaced & the box is sold out! So no box for me. I would have been less made about the repeats had I at least received it! They offered to send some of the samples but not all because they were sold out and I would only get one of the things I wanted & the perfume sample! I declined! I’m so disappointed with Sephora especially being a VIB customer I spend more with them at least once a month not including the Play box. This month just really left a bad taste in my mouth & I’m on the fence of canceling.

I had two boxes (December and January) not show up, they refunded December but I forgot about January until it was too late. I didn’t pay for February, but I got March. I have no clue what happened to the two I didn’t get, but I’m annoyed. There were things in those boxes that I actually wanted :/

Trisha

Did you track them with USPS? My boxes get scanned with delivery & I get a txt message thru my postal app.
We had people stealing boxes off porches a few months ago so I put a security camera up since I get so many items delivered. I’d be bummed if I paid for a box & never got it. I may not always like what I get, but I still want it!

Nyesha Rainey

This was my first Sephora box and I did receive #477. I liked everything but I won’t use the L.P. spray because my hair is very thick! I do agree, it is Glow overload but I am still very pleased with my box

I just signed up for this box on 3/17. Does anyone know if I will receive a March box or if I have to wait for the April box?

Reply ButtonReply

Gee

Ur getting aprils box, not this one

I really want to try this box. Have had a handful of Sub Boxes & I like trying a box for a few months, and switching to something else.

Even though I buy from Sephora online, when sighing up for this box, they wouldn’t take my address so denied me the chance to get it.

I’ll have to keep trying from time to time.

I recently got the subscription on Feb 27 and was charged. Then I was charged again on the first week of March. I got the March box the 13. Is that normal? Am I going to get charged again on the last week of March?

Reply ButtonReply

Trisha

I’ve really become a fan of all the Living Proof products, and I never would have tried them had it not been for my subs. I thought they were way to expensive, but I like them so much and everything really works! Worth the extra $ to me.

I like the GlamGlow Moisturizer-not sure I’d buy it, but it’s nice!

I got the Bobby Brown Shadow that is awesome, but this box would have made me happy too.

Debbie

I didn’t care for my box at all, I actually thought seriously of canceling and trying something new, like lola beauty box. I guess I’m still undecided….

Reply ButtonReply

Kim

I got the same box as Liz. Highlight overload!! Too much for one box. I also already got the same MUF eye shadow in my Aug. play box 🙁 Do you think Sephora customer service would do anything about this? They could have sent a different shade at least. NOT happy. I don’t understand why they would send the same exact thing 7 months later.

Reply ButtonReply

Amber

I also got a duplicate (from August 2016) of the MUF eyeshadow. I emailed customer service and got a reply that stated that the two products weren’t the same. Um. Same shadow. Same color #. Annoyed and disappointed that they simply said, “you’re wrong” and left it at that! Considering canceling from that alone!

Luna

I’m sure they’ll give you 100 reward points as a consolation if you email them.

I got box 469. I was not a fan at all. I have super oily skin, so most of the products were useless and the ones I tried made my skin like an oil slick.

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

I have oily skin too, and by chance, I had a moment of not thinking clearly last month where I cancelled my Sephora subscription (I have since come back to my senses, and have re-subscribed), so I “missed out” on March’s box, and I’m SO happy I did. This is the 1st box since I’ve been subscribed, where I wouldn’t use anything in it except for the perfume (or the Ghost Oil, if I had been sent it). I produce enough natural glow on my own, so all of these would have been gifted. I can’t wait for the April box though!

Reply ButtonReply

Julia

Is the waitlist gone?

Amanda Vela

Not to be a negative Nancy but this is not fair…I got box 469 and it’s the worst and lowest value…mine only has like a $32 which is $20 less than this one and $10 less than box 444…what the heck 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Gee

I wasn’t at all excited of this box too. I got that variation as well. I was so disappointed in the Josie whatever creme. I got like half a squirt worth of it. 😒

Reply ButtonReply

Julia

Box variations that aren’t based on your profile and have big differences in value are not cool.

Reply ButtonReply

Gloria

This was the box I received and totally loved it.

I love it more now that Im seeing how much the items retail for.

Reply ButtonReply

Tiffany

I have box 451 posted on the swap site and would love to have this variation, even with the repeat eyeshadow.

Reply ButtonReply

Tracey

That’s the one I got, and I was excited to try every single item.

I might actually buy the Algenist drops in full size when my sample size is done, I like it that much.

I didn’t get the MUFE shadow in the earlier box, so I really love the sample I got, very wearable for me.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

Does anyone know of drops similar to these, but that are pigment drops that I can add to my moisturizer? Basically, I want to concoct my own tinted moisturizer. Thanks for any suggestions!

Reply ButtonReply

Eve

Clinique just came out with some pigment drops also but I don’t remember the name of them.

Reply ButtonReply

Sarika

Lol I do that too 🙂 cover fx works, but I sumx use concealer powders mixed into my sunscreen.

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

I love the CoverFX custom cover drops! They have a good variety of shades and are super pigmented, so you only need a couple drops. I’ve found it blends well with most moisturizers/primers, but there are a few formulas they don’t blend well with, so if you have a fave moisturizer you plan to mix with maybe get a sample from sephora to make sure they work well together! I’m currently mixing it with Supergoop city serum sunscreen and I’m happy with it 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Patti

So jealous of those that received the Algenist drops!

Reply ButtonReply

Lindy

I got this variant too and loved it! I already had the shadow from a previous box which sort of stinks. But Watts Up is my favorite and I’m hoarding samples so I don’t have to splurge to buy it. I never like getting perfumes but the Atelier packaging is always so pretty haha.

Not quite sure how to wear the Algenist Reveal Concentrated Lumizing Drops in Pearl I always get scared by super shimmery products on my oily skin. Any recs?

Reply ButtonReply

Carrie

Mix it in to your foundation before applying it!

Reply ButtonReply

Dea

Will Sephora ever run out of MUFE samples in pink granite? Exasperated subscribers want to know. LOL.

Highly impressed with the size of the Benefit sample, as Liz said – this will last me quite a while!

Reply ButtonReply

Wendy

Does someone know if I can use a wet brush with the make up forever shadow?

Reply ButtonReply

Carrie

I don’t think it’s wet/dry but instead I’d suggest using a flat synthetic brush to apply with. It’s a cream-to-powder formula so it doesn’t pick up as well on flulffier brushes.

Reply ButtonReply

bunnygirlbrem

Are you talking about the Benefit highlighter that’s cream-to-powder? The eyeshadow is NOT cream-to-powder. I don’t think it’s meant to be used wet, either. I would say to use a flat brush with it, though. And use primer! 🙂

Sam

My box was #451 (or #455? I can’t remember now) and I’m pretty darn disappointed. I would have adored the Chloe perfume but instead got Atelier, which is okay but definitely not my favorite kind of scent. I’m mostly disappointed with the ghost oil–something my hair will NOT like, and the UD lipstick. The color is absolutely not wearable for me. I was even more disappointed when I found it was packed with glitter. The other products I can find some use for, and I am excited for the Becca highlighter, but otherwise this box was a miss.

I would really like for Sephora to start actually, you know, going by our profiles when deciding which box variations to send us. This time around, I got the overwhelming feeling they don’t even check.

Reply ButtonReply

Julia

I thought Liz’s box was the best variation, but even it had the negative of the repeat eyeshadow. 🙁

I received 451 as well. I tried out the UD lipstick because I like to give things an honest shot. The color was okay, but the glitter was over the top. I could wear it to some sort of event, I suppose (though I can’t imagine where), but I found that the pigment wore off easily while the glitter stuck around. The glitter also migrated outside my lips, which doesn’t happen with my other lip products. I don’t think I’m particularly picky about lipstick, but this was definitely a miss for me. : (

Ummm I got this variation and seeing what the box here is… huge disappoint. If ipsy hadn’t dragged their butts… well… I went to sephora. Going to cancel if this keeps up

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

I got 451 and decided to cancel as well.

Emily

I loved this box other than the fact that this was my second time receiving the same eyeshadow.

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

I got this box and love it! So many neat things! Only the perfume went into the “nieces” box, as I have an allergy to some citrus items (and really prefer not to break out in hives).

Reply ButtonReply

nancyisshopping

This was my daughter’s box this month and she was thrilled. She wears her hair flat to her head like so many teens so she gave me the Living Proof so I was thrilled too! 🙂

Yay! Glad you both got to enjoy this box! 🙂
