I purchased one of each box to see what the differences were - we'll start with the Mint box.
Mint POPPED! Box
The Mint box is the more expensive of the two, but offer some advantages:
- 2 Guaranteed Themed POPs of your choice
- 2 Random POPs
- Official Funko Shirt
I chose Marvel as my theme.
Funko Shirt
The shirt is the same in each crate - it's a Funko brand shirt, and I love it! As a collector, it's fun to have a shirt to represent it!
Cameron Frye
My first POP is from Ferris Bueller's Day Off, it's poor Cameron.
It's a simple POP design, but I like that he's wearing his Red Wings jersey!
Sabretooth POP
I receive Sabretooth as 1 of my 2 theme selections. Sabretooth is the ultimate Wolverine villain, and having grown up on Logan - Sabretooth became a favorite character.
Naturally, I have this collection completed! Which leaves me with this question, why isn't there a 6 inch Juggernaut POP yet!?
Gwenpool
My second themed POP was Gwenpool! A new addition to my collection!
This is an absolutely awesome POP!
Duck Dodgers
I've recently re-watched two of my favorite animated movies - Looney Looney Looney Bugs Bunny Movie and Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie - so this one is timed just right.
It definitely had me shouting 'DUCK DODGERS in the 24 1/2 CENTURY"!
The wraps up the Mint box - I received two Marvel themed POPs (Gwenpool and Sabretooth) with two mystery POPs (Cameron and Duck Dodgers).
Non-Mint Box
The Non-Mint option sent you POPs with slightly damaged boxes - without the choice of a theme, so these are completely random. This is a great option if you're building a collection to display out of the box.
Funko Shirt
You'll get the same Funko shirt in your box.
The Lich
My first POP is from Adventure Time - it's Finn and Jake's greatest villain - The Lich.
He's even creepy in POP form! I MUST get my hands on that Jake Car Funko Ride!
King Bob
I received King Bob from the Minions movie.
Minions really lend themselves well to the POP sculpt!
Reverse Flash
I received one POP from a comic line, and it was DC - It's Reverse Flash.
I'd love to see a Legion of Collectors exclusive that had The Flash in motion, as a POP.
Cady
The final POP of all of the POPs was Cady from Mean Girls.
I passed this one along to Liz for her room!
Verdict: $23 ($15 + $8) is a great value for 4 POPs with slightly damaged boxes. The boxes themselves were just that, slightly damaged, some to the point where I couldn't pick out the damage. If you're building your collection - the Non-Mint might be worth it even if you only get 2 POPs you like. The Mint box, at $38 ($30 + $15) doesn't end up being as good of a value. Even in selecting a theme, the theme is so broad that you still have a good chance of duplicates - and $40 is about the price you'll pay for 4 POPs, so it's riskier. I will say - add in the value of the shirt, and both options definitely become more valuable (and I love the shirt), but unless the shirt is different for the next selection, you may not need a second.
Did you pick up a POPPED! box? What did you think?
