I purchased one of each box to see what the differences were - we'll start with the Mint box.

Mint POPPED! Box

Collectors-Case-Mint-March-2017-0003

The Mint box is the more expensive of the two, but offer some advantages:

  • 2 Guaranteed Themed POPs of your choice
  • 2 Random POPs
  • Official Funko Shirt

I chose Marvel as my theme.

Funko Shirt

The shirt is the same in each crate - it's a Funko brand shirt, and I love it! As a collector, it's fun to have a shirt to represent it!

Collectors-Case-Mint-March-2017-0006

Cameron Frye

My first POP is from Ferris Bueller's Day Off, it's poor Cameron.

It's a simple POP design, but I like that he's wearing his Red Wings jersey!

Collectors-Case-Mint-March-2017-0010

Sabretooth POP

I receive Sabretooth as 1 of my 2 theme selections. Sabretooth is the ultimate Wolverine villain, and having grown up on Logan - Sabretooth became a favorite character.

Naturally, I have this collection completed! Which leaves me with this question, why isn't there a 6 inch Juggernaut POP yet!?

Collectors-Case-Mint-March-2017-0014

Gwenpool

My second themed POP was Gwenpool! A new addition to my collection!

Collectors-Case-Mint-March-2017-0015

Collectors-Case-Mint-March-2017-0016

This is an absolutely awesome POP!

Collectors-Case-Mint-March-2017-0018

Duck Dodgers

I've recently re-watched two of my favorite animated movies - Looney Looney Looney Bugs Bunny Movie and Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie - so this one is timed just right.

Collectors-Case-Mint-March-2017-0019

Collectors-Case-Mint-March-2017-0020

It definitely had me shouting 'DUCK DODGERS in the 24 1/2 CENTURY"!

The wraps up the Mint box - I received two Marvel themed POPs (Gwenpool and Sabretooth) with two mystery POPs (Cameron and Duck Dodgers).

Non-Mint Box

Collectors-Case-Near-Mint-March-2017-0003

The Non-Mint option sent you POPs with slightly damaged boxes - without the choice of a theme, so these are completely random. This is a great option if you're building a collection to display out of the box.

Funko Shirt

You'll get the same Funko shirt in your box.

Collectors-Case-Near-Mint-March-2017-0010

The Lich

My first POP is from Adventure Time - it's Finn and Jake's greatest villain - The Lich.

He's even creepy in POP form! I MUST get my hands on that Jake Car Funko Ride!

Collectors-Case-Near-Mint-March-2017-0014

King Bob

I received King Bob from the Minions movie.

Minions really lend themselves well to the POP sculpt!

Collectors-Case-Near-Mint-March-2017-0006

Reverse Flash

I received one POP from a comic line, and it was DC - It's Reverse Flash.

Collectors-Case-Near-Mint-March-2017-0007

Collectors-Case-Near-Mint-March-2017-0008

I'd love to see a Legion of Collectors exclusive that had The Flash in motion, as a POP.

Collectors-Case-Near-Mint-March-2017-0018

Cady

The final POP of all of the POPs was Cady from Mean Girls.

I passed this one along to Liz for her room!

Verdict: $23 ($15 + $8) is a great value for 4 POPs with slightly damaged boxes. The boxes themselves were just that, slightly damaged, some to the point where I couldn't pick out the damage. If you're building your collection - the Non-Mint might be worth it even if you only get 2 POPs you like. The Mint box, at $38 ($30 + $15) doesn't end up being as good of a value. Even in selecting a theme, the theme is so broad that you still have a good chance of duplicates - and $40 is about the price you'll pay for 4 POPs, so it's riskier. I will say - add in the value of the shirt, and both options definitely become more valuable (and I love the shirt), but unless the shirt is different for the next selection, you may not need a second.

Did you pick up a POPPED! box? What did you think?

Juggernaut just recently came out as a Walgreen’s exclusive Pop! Not 6 inches though.

oh – I definitely NEED that!

I thought the non-mint version was probably better. The boxes looked fine and you got a great variety!

I definitely expected more damage on the boxes for the Non-Mint – they’re still in good enough condition to display in case. Thanks for reading!

I got a non-mint box too and I had the same experience: The damage was very minimal. A couple boxes were kind of crumpled in at the side, but not badly. One box I couldn’t find the damage at all, until I saw that a *teeeeny corner of the flap on the bottom was torn. I know for true collectors that kind of stuff is a deal-breaker, but it didn’t bother me at all. I still feel like I could package them up and gift them to a friend at it would be fine.

I was incredibly happy with the Pops I got too: Ultron, the Bored Kevin minions Pop, Summertime Olaf from Frozen (he has a beach ball and sunglasses!), and Margery Tyrell from Game of Thrones. I totally lucked out with items from some of my favorite fandoms. No swapping here!

I wish now I had gotten two boxes. For a casual collector like me, this was a great deal.
