Comic Block *kind of* has a theme - for instance, this month's theme was 'March Means Exclusive' - so we just knew that everything was exclusive. Outside of themes, you'll typically know 2-3 franchises before the subscription window closes.

Fastball Special Shirt - Value $15?

I can't give this month's exclusive shirt enough accolades - I can't help to get fanboy giddy over a Colossus fastball! This shirt is perfect for me!

The Joker and Harley Quinn Sippers - Value $10 each?

We got 2 plastic coffee mugs featuring Harley and Mr. J. These are similar construction to the shaker in Sci-Fan Block.

Comic-Block-March-2017-0015

These are microwave and freezer safe and can be cleaned with a  dishwasher in the top rack. These certainly aren't the highest quality travel cups you'll own - but they get the job done with some great designs.

Alien Toilet Monsters #1 - Value $4.99 + Exclusive Variant Cover

Ever comic has an exclusive cover this month. The first comic I read was Alien Toilet Monsters - which was a little crazy if you couldn't have guessed from the name!

Comic-Block-March-2017-0021

The artwork reminds me of Garbage Pail Kids, but a little less gross?

James Bond Black Box #1 - Value $3.99 + Exclusive Variant Cover

You'll get issue #1 of the Black Box storyline for James Bond.

Comic-Block-March-2017-0024

The story and character absolutely reads like a James Bond movie - so I think Bond fans will enjoy the extension of the movies.

American Gods #1

American Gods stems from the novel by Neil Gaiman - it's also being made into a television show (I believe the first episode recently aired?).

Comic-Block-March-2017-0027

The story starts off so normal and ends absolutely BONKERS. It should also be noted that the sticker doesn't lie - mature readers only!

From Amazon:

Shadow Moon just got out of jail, only to discover his wife is dead. Defeated, broke, and uncertain as to where to go from here, he meets the mysterious Mr. Wednesday, who employs him to serve as his bodyguard—thrusting Shadow into a deadly world of the supernatural, where ghosts of the past come back from the dead, and a brewing war between old and new gods hits a boiling point.

X-O Manowar Soldier #1 - Value $3.99 + Exclusive Variant Cover

This was my favorite comic of the month! The story begins a bit slowly but then remains pedal to the metal to the end, showcasing the main character's journey of being thrown into a war.

Comic-Block-March-2017-0030

It ends in a way that you're just ready to pick up the next issue, too!

From Amazon:

Born under the oppressive thumb of the Roman Empire, Aric of Dacia learned warfare at an early age. It was amid such violence that he was abducted by an alien race. Forced into slavery, he survived where others perished. His escape would come from bonding with a weapon of immeasurable power: the X-O Manowar armor. With it, he returned to Earth…only to find himself stranded in the modern day.

Verdict: THis month's Comic Block was above average, but not great for me. While I'm fanboying hard over the shirt - it was also the item I liked the most. I so like that they are getting a little more adventurous in the comic selection - I like being introduced to new titles instead of sticking to the mainline publishers from time to time.

It’s sad when a comic book called Alien Toilet Monsters was the best thing in the entire box. I mean, it gets an A plus, because it was different with wild artwork, but sippy cups? 2 sippy cups?

Is Nerdblock trying to tell us we’re babies?

American Gods begins April 30 and btw is the best novel I’ve ever read.

Just read it online, and I have to say, the drawings are terrible, hard to look at. way too many pointless word balloons. Could be I’m not the right person to judge this type of book. Everybody talks about the last few pages, but, that was a let down. Sex isn’t shocking in 2017.
