You'll know at least 2-3 of the franchises in the box when the subscription period opens. This month featured Penny Dreadful, Ash vs. The Evil Dead, Vampirella, and Leprechaun.
You'll get a mini magazine that details all of the items in your box.
Leprechaun Pin - Value $5?
This month features a Leprechaun pin - which one the famous taglines from the movie. They definitely picked the tight month to send this!
Monster Totem Pole Shirt - Value $15?
This goes down as one of my favorite shirts from Horror Block. The totem pole features Pinhead, Jason, Freddy, and Leatherface!
Ash vs. The Evil Dead Socks - Value $10-15?
I can't find these exact socks online, so I'm ballparking the value based on similar items.
If you read my reviews, you'll know that I'm always ready for new socks in boxes - so I was excited to see these. Not only do they sport an awesome franchise and show - but they're also high-quality socks!
Penny Dreadful Ceramic Travel Mug - Value $15-20?
This is more like it! I'm always receptive to coffee mugs and glasses, but I wasn't blown away by the plastic travel mugs they've included in some recent blocks - this is much better.
This is definitely a high-quality travel mug. But, it's also handwash only and not microwave safe. But - hopefully, they're going in the right direction with kitchen items for future boxes - I like these.
Starry Eyes DVD - Value $14 on Amazon
If there was ever a box to always include movies in it - it'd be a Horror themed box - so I was happy to see yet another horror DVD this month.
From Amazon:
Determined to make it as an actress in Hollywood, Sarah Walker spends her days working a dead-end job, enduring petty friendships and going on countless casting calls in hopes of catching her big break.
After a series of strange auditions, Sarah lands the leading role in a new film from a mysterious production company. But with this opportunity comes bizarre ramifications that will transform her both mentally and physically into something beautiful... and altogether terrifying.
Vampirella #0 - Value FREE on Amazon
They include a new prologue issue that features a new direction for the Vampirella series.
From Amazon:
Beginning a new and VERY different direction! Vampirella was last spotted in 2016 doing what she does best—defending the world from threats both mystic and evil. She hasn’t been seen since. Now, over a thousand years later, she’s poised to make her fateful return, but the world that awaits her is unlike anything she might expect—or want to defend! Written by acclaimed comics, novel and television writer Paul Cornell (This Damned Band, Doctor Who) and illustrated by the masterful Jimmy Broxton (Goldtiger, Knight & Squire), it’s the start of an adventure for Vampirella unlike any she’s had in her long and storied history. Don’t miss the train before it leaves the station!
Rue Morgue presents Shark Movie Mania - Value $9.95
The last item is always the latest issue of Rue Morgue or a special edition issue. March features the latter!
This features information on all of your favorite shark horror flicks!
Verdict: This is a really strong Horror Block! I think they did a great job with the big hero items in the box - the shirt, socks, mug, and pin are all awesome this month - and definitely cover the cost of the box by themselves! I'm curious to see if they keep including movies each month - it seems like a logical item for a Horror box - so, we'll see!
What did you think of the March 2017 Horror Block?
