OrangeGlad includes a really beautifully designed booklet to accompany the sweets, that gives a little information on the individual artisans and the goodies themselves.
This month the design was a bit different as far as layout goes - the size was the same, but instead of being stapled on the long side, it was stapled in the middle and opened up, instead of out, so to speak.
Homemade Caramels by 3kidskitchen - Value $2.50?
These caramels were perfectly chewy and sweet. I loved them! They had a faint vanilla flavor to them and they were just perfect in every way.
Raley's Handmade Variety Mix Candy, 3 oz. - Value $5.00 (buy a 6 oz. jar for $9.00)
Raley's hard candies are some of the best out there. The flavors come through nicely and they're just the right bit of sweetness. My favorite flavor is the tutti-fruitti!
Hard Crack - Original Toffee Cookies, 1.65 oz./6-count - Value $1.29 (buy an 8 oz./28-count box for $6.00)
I received 6 cookies in this box. They are about the circumference of an Oreo cookie and about as thin as one of the Oreo cookies (minus the cream and the other side). The toffee flavor comes through really strong and the texture of the cookie is crisp and snappy. These go perfectly with a cup of coffee or tea!
Salt of the Earth Bakery - The Brownie - Value $5.00 (buy 3 boxes for $15.00)
These brownies are amazing. The original Brownie is very soft and chewy with just the right amount of sea salt and sweetness. It is your basic brownie but elevated with three different chocolates and a dash of sea salt.
Salt of the Earth Bakery - The Kona - Value $5.00 (buy 3 boxes for $15.00)
These brownies have been infused with espresso and Hawaiian Kona sea salt. They are a bit more gooey and soft than the Original brownie! The espresso flavor doesn't really come through that strongly to me - if I didn't know there was coffee in these, I wouldn't have tasted it at all. It's the perfect complement to the chocolate.
Verdict: This box has a value of approximately $18.79, which is better than last month, but still doesn't quite meet the threshold of the cost of the box. I think if you really love sweets from artisanal bakeries, OrangeGlad is a great box for you. If you're looking for a killer value for a minimum price, this box probably isn't going to be your favorite. Either way, I really enjoyed all of the items in my OrangeGlad box this month!
