Now, onto the items!

Ahava Deadsea Water Mineral Hand Cream - 40 ml Value $9.60

I'm always impressed with Ahava Hand Cream - it's a rich formula, and a little goes a long way, so this tube should last for a while. (It's about a third the size of the full-size version.)

Replenix All-trans-Retinol Enriched Eye Repair - .21 oz Value $35.90

(This item is a bonus - all subscribers will receive one bonus product this month.)

This is a great size sample for an eye cream! The formula is nourishing and absorbs quickly, too.

SmartFX Smart Lash Advanced Eyelash Enhancer – Full-Size Value $49.95

This serum is designed to boost eyelash growth for healthier, fuller looking lashes. This full-sized tube should be enough to see results, too.

The reviews of this product mention that it burns if you get it in your eyes, so be extra careful when applying. (Also - kind of a bummer that a product you are applying right next to your eyeball burns your eyes, right?)

If you are a little too nervous to apply to your eyelids, you can also use this on brows to boost brow growth!

Cotz Face Natural Tint SPF 40 - 5 g Value $2.35

This Natural Tint has a matte finish and blends in well. (Almost no coverage, but it does give a nice blur effect.)

I swatched this in a lower photo before blending it in so you could see the color. (Also, my sample was a clear oil at first - make sure to shake the tube a bit before opening.)

Vita Liberata 10 Minute Tan - 1 oz Value $7.80

This self-tanner is formulated without parabens, sulfates, or phthalates, and it gave my skin a natural color.

I just wish it didn't have that self-tanner smell! (If you've found a self-tanner that doesn't smell like self-tanner, please let me know!)

The color from this self-tanner is very subtle, too. If you are easing into the idea of trying a self-tanner, this would be the perfect one to try.

Here it is swatched beneath the COTZ to give you a good idea of the tone:

(It blends out a lot more than that, though.)

Daily Concepts Wash Cloth – FULL SIZE! Value $14

I love Daily Concepts washcloths!

It's made with a stretchy cotton fabric with nylon loops for exfoliation.

The handles make it easy for cleaning hard to reach areas, and it has a tag that lets you know when it is time to replace it:

(Time to get a new one when the text fades.)

And it comes with a suction cup, too.

NuFace Prep Cloth (1 cloth) – Value $1

This is not a typical makeup remover cloth! One side is for cleansing and the other side has micro-dots for exfoliating. It did an excellent job of removing my makeup, and it left my skin hydrated, too.

Tula Hydrating Day and Night Cream - .5 oz Value $15.30

(Good to know for swaps - this product has a foil seal.)

I've sampled Tula before, and I'm a fan of the line. This moisturizer is hydrating without being greasy, so it works well for both day and night, and I like the clean scent.

Manna Kadar Runway Ready - 8 ml Value $16.80

Another good sized sample, and a Manna Kadar product I haven't sampled before! This primer gave my skin a super smooth finish, too.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $152! That's a great value for a $24.95 box. When I first saw the full spoilers for this box, I wasn't sure how I felt about it. But, after sampling everything, I'm impressed. While I would have loved to see at least one more full-sized beauty item, I'll use everything in this box, and many of the sample sizes are generous.

What do you think of the May 2017 Beauty Fix box?

As of 5/11 - this box is still available if you sign up! Use coupon code BFIX10MSA to save $10 off your first box! (Your first box will be the May box.)

Starting at $21.95

I’m back to give an update about my experience with the defective Replenix eye cream and contacting Dermstore.

I contacted Dermstore to let them know that my eye cream was defective and asked if they could send a replacement. It turns out that they didn’t have anymore to send out but they would send me something else to make up for it. I thought that was pretty fair.

Today I received two replacements for the defective eye cream. One is a deluxe sample of the 100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream. It has a great texture and smells awesome. I will definitely use the entire sample….but wait, it gets better! Dermstore, being the awesome company that they are, sent me a FULL SIZE pur-lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 eye serum. This serum has a nice texture and is completely unscented. I can’t speak to how it works yet because I just received it, but it definitely has some power house ingredients so I don’t expect to be disappointed. It’s FULL SIZE ladies, FULL FLIPPING SIZE! Dermstore didn’t have to do that, but they did do it, and that’s what I call excellent customer service.

It’s been disconcerting for me to read all of these negative comments and expressions of disappointment about this sub. If Dermstore was consistently letting you down, I could see complaining, and ditching the sub, BUT as far as I know, they don’t often disappoint. This sub is $25/month, and for that you get WELL OVER $100 in product – usually with 1 or 2 full sized items. I don’t know of any other monthly sub that does that at the $25 price point while still including multiple deluxe samples. I honestly don’t see ANY justification for complaining. None. But because of one defective or missing sample, you trash the whole sub and cancel. Seriously?

I’m going to contact Dermstore now and thank them for their EXCELLENT customer service and their commitment to sending out quality products at a great value every month. I certainly look forward to and appreciate it.

I just received 3 Emails from them and i think they are sending me a new May Box! 🙂 <3 They do have Excellent costumer service! I will be sending them a thank you email 🙂

Gwendylon

I also contacted them about the eye cream. Mine didn’t have anything in it. I’m still waiting for a response from them 🙁 This is my first box and i’m pretty Happy with it 🙂

I think it is important for everyone to provide feedback both good and bad. As a business owner, if I don’t know the pain points for my customers I can’t provide solutions. In the same regard, I want to know what they like so I can continue to provide it. There is always room for improvement. For both businesses and people. Not everyone’s experiences will be the same. As long as the criticism is constructive I am sure that dermstore doesn’t mind.

Janet

And normally I would agree, particularly when paying full price for a product. However, this is a sample box that provides well over its cost in value. One defective sample or samples smaller than usual is not a good reason to complain or cancel when you are still getting way over the cost you paid in value.

Jeannie

This box was a major disappointment for me. I tried to cancel when the spoiler came out, but it was too late. I use Latisse so I don’t need lash serum. Don’t use self tanner, and the tinted sunscreen is too dark for me. The samples are pretty tiny too. I cancelled. Maybe if the spoilers are good next month I’ll try again.

Siti

I’m sorry that you had a bad experience with your subscription box. Mine was just fine 🙂

Toni

Hmmmm I always like to check on this box each month to see if I miss it,well nope still not missing it which is weird because it used to be on of my favorite subscribtion boxes before the big PURGE

I got my box today, and I did get the eye cream! Yay!!! After reading that others received nearly empty tubes, I checked mine out. Lightly squeezed the tube and product came running out! I haven’t washed my face tonight, but not wanting to waste the eye cream, I just put it on anyway, lol! Thankfully, I stayed home today, so no makeup, but I guess I’ll go to bed with a dirty face because I don’t want to wash the eye cream off!!! 🙂

I received my box today but was surprised because instead of the usual box it comes in as pictured above I came home to find a huge dermstore box. When I opened box it was full of paper and there inside was the usual box. Box was perfectly fine no damage or anything. Thought to myself waste of shipping material. However the under flap of the large box stated Save 20% and free shipping on next order and provided a coupon code good till 08/32/2017. So happy about that but still a waste of shipping material.

lol

8/32/2017? Didn’t know that was a date.

Lia

I got my beautyfix yesterday 🙂 I am excited to try the lash enhancer and will take a before and after pic to see if there is indeed a difference. I used my Tula Hydrating Day and Night Cream immediately and I wish it was a bigger sample because I love it! I will sample the rest in the coming days. The value of all beautyfix boxes are 4-5 times the cost of what we pay for and I am grateful for the wonderful curation and amazing customer service. For skin and hair care – Beautyfix is my go to box, and for make-up it’s Boxycharm. And I wouldn’t have discovered these treasure if not for Liz, thank you MySubscriptionAddiction for all you do for us.

Noelle

There was a time I was not into skin care. Got a sample of Tula Products and it was the first time I noticed any product making a difference. It is a staple in my regiment. I’m excited to get this box – my first……to try new products….!

Reply ButtonReply

TK

I got my box yesterday and did get the Replenix eye cream. As others have stated, there’s no seal. I wonder how BF decided who got the eye cream and if you didn’t get it what did you get? I’m happy to try it because I’m always looking for a “better” eye cream. Also, I used the face wipe last night and it was the best I’ve ever used. Something about those dots felt great!!! I will definitely be buying more.

Reply ButtonReply

TheSonorista

I think the underfilled tube is related to no seal. On the Mother’s Day box, the Vita Liberata had no seal. I opened it, pretty sure I wanted to swap it, but there was no deal and about half the tube wound up all over my hand and the floor. So you either get sealed, or unsealed and underfilled. To me it’s the sign of a brand that’s not quite as “lux” as they want you to think.

Reply ButtonReply

Alyce

Mine didn’t have a seal, was surprised since this is “deluxe” and high end value. I also had to squeeze and push the cream out of that tube. LOL . I was so excited to be able to try this product and evaluate before thinking of a purchase.

Not BF error – but I do hope someone visits this site to provide feedback.

My first box – and I was satisfied – I read so many disappointing comments on this month’s box compared to others, my hopes were flickering.

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

Ugh. I didn’t receive a bonus item

Reply ButtonReply

Alyce

Oh, the eye cream was a bonus? Maybe that is why they are bloated and empty of product. The company was changing shifts and the error was caught, so they were sold to BF for next to nothing…or maybe donated …can you tell that I’m procrastinating to return to work….:)

Reply ButtonReply

Yvonne

I didn’t either.

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

Oopsie – I lied! I received the eye cream

Reply ButtonReply

Karen

To be fair Beauty Fix never said everybody would get the eye cream.

Reply ButtonReply

Ginger

With so many disappointing small samples, I see the eye cream as a compensation. So I can totally understand those who are pissed off by not getting it.

Reply ButtonReply

Tamara Dungan

Well, I got it but don’t feel bad. There’s about a pea sized amount in that tube. I could barely get any out. I’m 100% sure a foil packet would hold more 🙁

Janet

Hmm…I dunno. I think that even though the samples are small, the value of the box far outweighs missing out on a bonus. And knowing Dermstore, they would likely send one out right away if they were notified it wasn’t received! The lash enhancer is worth twice the cost of the box by itself. I think the physical size of the lash enhancer has thrown everyone off – we are so used to seeing *larger* full sized items. But the value is definitely there and I don’t see any justification for being pissed off. Just me.

Christina

Ok I rarely complain about anything but I just opened my box and the eye cream has no seal and there is almost nothing in it. Did y’all get a seal or have this issue?

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

SAME. It’s mostly air and definitely no seal

Reply ButtonReply

Krista

I contacted beauty fix or (dermastore) and let them know that my product hardly had any in it and that other people were complaining of the same. They sent me out another eye cream today! Great customer service!
This was my first box. I’ve tried birchbox, glossy box, Walmart, now beauty fix and I hope it’s a keeper !

Laura Powell

Yay! I got the eye cream! This box at first looks doesn’t wow me, but I still think it’s a great box overall with a lot of products to try!

Reply ButtonReply

Janet

Not sure what’s up with all of these complaints. The value of this box, and every other Beauty Fix I’ve ever received is outstanding. This is hands down my all time favorite sub. I had to temper my subscription addiction and I canceled all of my subs except for BF and Birchbox. I’m OCD when it comes to my skin and I have an obsession with quality skincare products. I’ll take skincare over makeup any day. The only product in this box I won’t use is the lash enhancer. I have extremely dry and often irritated eyes (due to Lupus) so I rarely even wear eye makeup. I use products purchased directly from or prescribed by my dermatologist, like Retin-A, but I also love the products I get in my Beauty Fix and that I purchase from Dermstore. I don’t know what I would do without Dermstore!

Alyce

Janet,

Thank you for writing such a passionate posting. This was my first BF box. I agree with you about skincare!!! I’m so excited to not be receiving make-up.

Benevolent Beauty and Beauty Fix have turned into keepers!

Reply ButtonReply

Janet

I’ve not heard of Benevolent Beauty. Will have to check it out. I cancelled all of my makeup subs because I now have enough unopened mascara and eyeliner to last the rest of my life!

Alyce

Does BF ever do variations of their boxes? I did not see a survey of skin needs, so am taking for granted that every member receives the same box.

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

I think they may do variations for something like a lipstick color (I think), but as far as the actual products, they’re always the same.

I started with Beautyfix in March. The March box was so amazing I thought for sure this would be my favorite beauty box of all time. (Maybe even more than FFF which is really hard to beat in my opinion.) However, after receiving my April and May boxes I am ready to cancel. Only because March was so amazing I will try one more month before canceling.

Reply ButtonReply

HalliLikeBerry

That is exactly how I’m feeling. I cancelled yesterday. I’ll just do one time purchases of any future boxes that appeal to me.

Reply ButtonReply

Angela

Just got mine yesterday. I canceled the other day to try something different since their boxes have been somewhat lack luster for me lately. The box isn’t horrible but the lack of full size product and the tool being disposable has me looking for love in a new place. I might be back on day…but a girl needs constistancy and BF hasn’t been hitting the mark.
That being said the hand cream is nice.

Reply ButtonReply

Hillary

I received a different Ahava hand cream in my Amazon beauty box. (Dermud Internsive Hand Cream) I really dislike the smell. Does anyone know if this one has the same scent?

Reply ButtonReply

Abbe

I don’t think it’s the same as the Dermud. This one smells soooooooo good!

Reply ButtonReply

Annabella

I was speed-reading the product reviews while scrolling and somehow jumped from ‘This lash enhancer may sting your eyes … but it will give a nice blurred effect’. For a second I thought – blurry vision is desirable?

But no, just two reviews merged together…

Reply ButtonReply

Kathy

😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣Love it. Of course this is only after the burning stops from getting the product in your eye. Stinging is too mild of a term. Fire is more fitting. I was careful, but apparently not careful enough. Be careful everyone.

Reply ButtonReply

TK

BF is usually my fav box every month but this month is not. I’ve used the eyelash enhancer before and it was very irritating to my eyes. I’m kinda tired of primers and don’t use them. The hand cream is always useful. I’m excited to try the Day/Night cream. The wash cloth is great especially since BF has not included a “tool” in a few of the last boxes. I will be upset if I don’t get the Replenix eye cream because it’s probably the best thing for me in this box!

Reply ButtonReply

Aaron

I’m still excited about this box. Lots of discovery items, it’s what it’s all about right?

Reply ButtonReply

Maggie

I wasn’t sure that I’d like this month’s box when I saw the spoilers. However, now that I’ve received it, I do like it. I knew that there had to be more value there, so I was pleased to see the review with the dollar amounts. I can always use hand cream since it seems like I’m always using Purell or washing my hands since I work in healthcare. I will enjoy using that wash cloth. I’ve wanted to try that self-tanner. The other items will be great in my travel bag for my summer vacation. I did like last month’s better, but this wasn’t bad.

Reply ButtonReply

Melody Sla

This is my third month with this box and the first tome I am somewhat let down. I was waiting for lash enhancer so I am excited about that…but that all. I like a skincare heavy box but I need some make-up!
With that said, I am entertaining the idea of usong the coupon to get a second box for the great price on the lash enhancer…

Reply ButtonReply

Janet

Makeup isn’t the focus of Beauty Fix. They occasionally throw in a make up item but the main concentration is always on skincare.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

I got the eye cream in my box. I also have a 2nd box coming and I’ll see if I get another. I paid full price for my regular sub box and used the coupon on the 2nd one; I wonder if that’ll make any difference in bonus items… Anyhow, once I got my box, I did feel like the value is there like others are saying. I’m impressed with the 2 eye products and the wash towel!
