Yes, dermarolling hurts, but only with larger needles. This is a .25 so it wont penetrare deep enough to stimulate collagen, but it will help with absorbtion of skincare products. I use a .5 and it hurts so badly, but Ive seen people say they dont feel it until .75, 1, or 1.5. The .5 is the minimum threshold for collagen stimulation. The 1 or 1.5 is used more for scars and stretch marks. Those can be used on your face, but it is not recommended to use greater than 1.5 on yourself at home. The longer the needles, the longer you must wait in between rolling sessions. I think .25 would be okay a couple times a week. .5 is for every other week. 1 and 1.5 should be 2-3 weeks….etc. I hope this helps.

So let me ask then do you think it’s worth doing if it’s not long enough to stimulate collagen then? I just don’t know if it’s worth adding one more thing to my beauty routine if it only helps my serum absorb better.

In my opinion, no, this size in particular would not be worth adding an extra step to your skincare routine. Yes, it will increase product absorption, but you aren’t going to see a drastic change in your skin. For those interested in this concept, however, this would be a good trial roller to see if you can handle needling your face. You can then proceed to purchase a longer needle size. Use ice to numb with larger sizes 🙂
My first reply didn’t show up- so I’m writing it again…if it does show up…oops.

In my opinion, no. I don’t think the results from using just a .25 roller would be worth adding an extra step to your routine. Yes, it helps with ingredient absorption, but you won’t be seeing any drastic changes. For those interested in the concept, however, this would be a good roller to try out to see if it’s a device you can handle putting on your face. If you can tolerate it, then you can upgrade to a longer needle length. I suggest numbing with ice for longer ones. 😉

Yes that helps… in telling me I’m too squeamish to try this, haha. Oh well if it actually does some good I guess it’d be worth it, and a bargain at that.

Well you ladies let us know how it works .Being a person that has been poked so many times fighting cancer I’ll have to say no at this time .But hey if it works I might be able to convince myself lol

OH! I was about to drop $25 on one of these.
looks like i’ll be resubbing to Beautyfix instead!
is it june 1 to subscribe for this box? I really don’t want the May box lol!

Becca
I didn’t wait and got the May box. I realized after I did it so I called customer service. He said that I could wait until June to get the June box but he said it was soooo good that he knows it will sell out, so if I wanted a guaranteed spot to keep subscribed. What a good salesman hahaha! Silly me, it worked and now I get the may box too.

I subbed early and later realized I’d have to get the May box first. I decided to keep it that way in case it sells out. I dont want to take any chances bc i really want that June box. I agree that May box is pretty underwhelming but i think there is some eye cream i would like. Probably lots of stuff going up for swaps 😉
Alyce
If I would have only read all of the MSA postings! LOL . I canceled Beauty Fix after my May box. Then I saw MSA’s feature for Beauty Fix June. I resubscribed (I thought) to the June box…only to receive a replicate May this morning. :'(

I signed up for a sub after seeing this spoiler and the shifty bastards sent me the May box! ArgH!!!! So mad!!!
Reply
Christie
That’s not shifty at all!! They’re very clear about the fact that if the current month’s box is still available, that’s the box you’re getting when you subscribe. Liz mentions that as well in the post as well (in bold print, no less). If you wanted the June box, you should have waited until June 1 to subscribe. Besides, Beauty Fix is one of the most consistently awesome boxes you can get.
MaryLou
I was wondering the same thing Alice, I would sub in an instant if I was getting the June box? If after June 1 do we get June?

I have wanted to try this! Some dermatologists seem to nay say it, but mine didn’t blackball it, just said it won’t do as well as in office visit. Make sure it is good quality and do research beforehand, essentially. I am so excited! I am 26, so just worried about the 11 lines as far as wrinkles go, but it is supposed to help with stretch marks and scars, and I have good some doozies of scars from surgery that aren’t bad enough for me to shell out for revision surgery, but I’d love to try microneedling to make them a little less noticeable.

omg HELL no I am not sticking needles into my face! Ready to cancel after last month’s flop anyways. Have fun ladies!! this is just not for me.

I emailed them to cancel 3 days ago with no response. I guess their CS is not too great either. They give coupons every month but make it hard for regular subscribers to cancel. I guess I have to live chat or call them.

I’ve been eyeballing these for months so a total win. Forty-five is darkening the doorstep and my pretty good skin has been doing some naughty things, like my top lip looking like smokers lip, even though I don’t smoke. My new skincare routine is helping but I’m hoping this speeds the process. Anyone know how it does with rosacea?

I was thinking about trying this sub this month but am so petrified of needles I’m afraid of even touching that thing and swapping it. I wonder if they would send a box without it if I requested it?

Not interested in this product AT ALL.Needles??? Sounds dreadful…..I emailed asking for it to be removed from box. I know, silly me.
No response yet. In any case, if I receive it – donating or trashing it.

They are barely a millimeter long. No big deal. These are quite expensive to buy, so maybe try selling it on Poshmark instead of throwing it out. I use one and there really is no noticeable damage after, but over time it helps create more collagen to fill in wrinkles. These at home versions are nothing compared to in office procedures.
Marlene
Maybe, they have a really nice customer service.
The needles are just 1/100 of an inch, and it comes in a package I(I think is a case) so you wont have to touch it.
Or could you ask someone to remove it for you?

Yay! Can’t wait for my June box to arrive now. While I haven’t personally asked a professional, two of my social media heros have given microneedling the thumbs up (as long as you purchase from a reputable source and use as directed). Those heros would be Wayne Goss and Caroline Hirons!!! I’ve just started researching this and while I might have gone for one size larger, this item is a good place to start. And now I am finally gonna use up my uber large bottle of rubbing alcohol that has been gathering dust in my bathroom ;).

I wanted to post an educational link for people who want to know more about what Dermarolling is with microneedles. This is a really good website that gives information about different rollers with various needle sizes and what the different needles sizes do. It also gives suggestions on how often you should do it. It also has pictures for those of us who are visual learners. The purpose of the specific dermaroller needle size that BeautyFix is including in the box next month is to help with better absorption of product into the skin. I am a RN and soon to be FNP that has a side business where I do Botox and Filler injections. I personally do dermarolling at home with different needle sizes and love it. I see a huge difference in my skin and feel that it makes my products more effective. Two thumbs up BeautyFix!
Thanks for posting this very informative link! The one thing that worries me about this product is how sanitary it is with repeated use. Is cleaning it with alcohol enough? With regular use, how often should this item be replaced?
I’m really excited to try this! I LOVE my BeautyFix!!!

That’s what I was wondering as well – how do you disinfect it if you use one at home? When I’ve done it at clinics, they just use disposable attachments.
Lin
So basically tearing holes into your face…yeah i can see how that would help absorb beauty products….and surface irritants, and bacteria. Swerve.
2 weeks ago i cold turkey stopped using all my skincare (excpt facewash). It was hard letting go of adorable tiny bottes and “soothing” masks, etc but my skin hasnt looked better! (since before i became a beauty sample guinne pig #nottestedonanimals)
I know in the winter i might break down nd go back to the comforts of lotions and serums, but for now i couldnt be happier with my clear pores and even skin!

I did this also- stopped using all face products for a few weeks. I was getting white build up around corners of my nose. My skin did not look as good- dull, dry. Had to add products back because I was noticing new fine lines 🙁 Also, I had to stop using retinol when preganant. Couldn’t wait to start using it again to get that glow back. I do try to refrain from wearing makeup several days a week though to let my “skin breathe.” I also switch up the beauty regime frequently.

That’s funny because since I started my collection of cute tiny bottles my skin has never looked better. I’m approaching 40 and get comments a lot about how good my skin looks and people telling me that I look young for my age! I follow a 10 step skin care routine recommended by Korean skin care.

It creates micro-tears over fine lines, so scar tissue repair and collagen fill in the wrinkles over time with repeated use.

Wow, this looks like it acupuncture. But to your face and not as deep as actual acupuncture. This might be the next big thing. It makes so much sense. It opens up your pores and skin so that your skin can breath and moisturisers will penetrate deeper beneath the skin. Awesome. Excited to try.

I have been using these for years. Smother your face in serum, roller it in three directions (vertical, horizontal, diagonal), then apply a HA moisturizer. I have found that it lessens fine lines around my mouth and on my forehead 🙂 Do this 2-3 times a week and your skin will stay baby soft and smooth!

Alyce
Lia, Is it recommended to change the rollers or needles after a certain number of uses?
Linda
Is “HA” moisturizer hypo-allergenic? Also, thanks for the tips, I have never heard of this but would love to try it on my forehead!

Oh good… I love dermarolling! I have 3 already, all different sizes. They really do work. My skin has never looked so good. Just remember to not do it too often and to give your skin time to heal between rolling.

These definitely work! This needle is short and will not hurt. It makes my skin pink for awhile after but my skin has never looked better.

How long have you been doing it? I have super poor vision, and I’m starting to get the little 11s between my brows from squinting!

I am such a squinter too! I have been using it every couple weeks for over a year. My husband started using one a couple months ago and he thinks his acne scarring is better, I can’t tell yet to be honest.
Regina
Interesting, going to look into this, I’ve never heard of doing this!

Sorry ladies my best friend is a dermatologist and so is her husband. She told me long ago that most needles sold aren’t even long enough to penetrate the skin layer that will boost collagen. This is a SCAM
THE ONLY thing this needle size will do is boost the absorption of your skin care products but if they have silicones or bad ingredients in them you don’t want to put them on right after.
What a disappointment.

All dermatologists do is prescribe drugs, so honestly they are a scam if you ask me. Aestheticians learn skin, anatomy and preventative measures, unlike derms who are drug endorsed.

Jess
How are Dermatologist a scam?? Please tell me what drugs they prescribe that are such a scam?? If you have a rash that won’t go away with OTC treatment aren’t you going to want a script to make it go away?? If you have Melanoma or any other skin cancer aren’t you going to want it treated? Most skin care lines are scams and the cheaper it is the less likely it is not going to work.
Jill
I know! What a scam with their lame skin cancer checks and life-saving treatments. I would never trust a board-certified MD over someone with 12 months of cosmetology school.
Taren
Don’t be disappointed! I’ve used Ora micro needles for years and always recommend them and dermal rolling in general when people stop me and ask me how I keep my skin line free!
