Collective Child is a members-only high-end clothing styling service for children. The Collective Child stylists take your lifestyle, feedback, and seasonal weather into consideration when packing your box.
Collective Child works like some women’s clothing styling boxes. You begin by filling out a style profile for your child. Information about sizing, preferred colors and prints are all taken into account. After completing the style form your box will ship out in about 10 days. You have 7 days to have your child try on all the pieces and then you mail anything back that you decide not to keep with the prepaid mailer. Checking out is now done via an online account. You are billed immediately upon letting them know which items you’ll be keeping and which you’ll be returning. Pricing is comparable to high-end department stores. Collective Child is also charging a membership fee now. The fee is based on how much clothing you keep. The more you keep, the less your fee will be. If you keep over $150 worth of clothing there is no fee.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Checkout used to be done with a paper form that came in your box. They have now simplified this process and you check out with your online account which is much faster. They ask questions about each piece regarding style, fit and price. This will help your stylist understand why you’ve chosen to keep and return each item.
Imps&Elfs Chambray Dress - $55.00
This chambray dress by Imps&Elfs is incredibly soft, but also very wrinkly. It was made of 100% Lyocell. It fit my daughter well, but I didn’t feel there was anything especially unique or special about it. I liked the style of the dress, but I have to say spending $55 on a casual dress for a three year old is too steep for me.
Anthem of the Ants Dress - $68.00
Most of the clothing from Collective Child has been very muted colors. I like that this dress has bolder colors and I thought the tie shoulder straps were very sweet. My daughter liked the colors, pattern and front pockets, but alas $68.00 is simply out of our clothing budget.
Rylee + Cru Tiger Tank - $37.00
This tank had such a unique print. I loved that it wasn’t the typical girly prints I see when I take her shopping. It’s 100% cotton and the sassy tiger print fits my daughter’s personality well. We will be keeping this tank.
Imps&Elfs Olive Green Shorts - $46.00
The first thing my daughter said when I pulled these shorts out of the box was, “those are boy shorts, I don’t like them.” The material is so stiff it reminds me of the military-issue duffle bags. They were pretty awful all around.
Imps&Elfs Cupcake Tee - $26.00
This shirt had the right price, but I found it semi-sheer and semi-boring to boot. I love the fact that this soft shirt is made with 95% organic cotton and has a little stretch from 5% elastane, but the muted colors and tiny abstract desserts didn’t excite my daughter or me.
Imps&Elfs Chambray Pants - $50.00
These pants were made of the same soft and wrinkly material as the chambray dress. The slouchy fit was cute, but the elastic cinched cuffs were so tight my daughter has a difficult time getting the pants on and off.
Donsje Panda Bag - $39.00
This nubuck leather panda wallet bag is one of the most precious things I’ve ever seen. My daughter really wanted to keep this item, and I fell in love with it too, until I saw the price tag. Bummer.
Tiny Cottons Years Tee - $32.00
I liked the pretty pale pink of this pima cotton and elastane tee, but the random years and word “love” printed all over it just didn’t rock me. The fit was nice, but this one will be going back.
Verdict: This was my first month of Collective Child since they changed some of their subscription policies. Their high-priced, quality clothing from little known and hard to source brands were more of a miss than a hit for me this month. We kept one cute tank, but mostly I was disenchanted with the fabrics and patterns in this particular box. I would have loved to have kept the pink, striped Anthem of Ants dress but I felt the price was too high. Now that Collective Child has membership fees and less time to try on and return the clothing (7 days – it used to be 10 days) I feel they may turn off some potential subscribers. I do like their online checkout system though which I found incredibly user-friendly and fast; it’s definitely preferential over their old paper forms you had to fill out by hand and mail back.
