Before I dive into my picks for this month, here's more information about the Frank + Oak Style Plan sign-up process:
After choosing a monthly or bi-monthly plan, several clothing options are presented one at a time so you can rate each with a smiley, frowny, or meh face. Overall, the clothing is minimal and sophisticated, which I was instantly drawn to!
Once Frank + Oak Style Plan has an idea of your style preferences, they present clothing options that match your style. In addition to several images and fabric and sizing info, you are able to see how many tokens each item requires and choose whatever you'd like. I received five tokens and was able to order two items. I noticed that even if I frowned something, it still showed up as an option to purchase. And some items I really liked didn't show up as an option, likely because they exceeded five tokens.
My box included an invoice for the two items I chose.
And on the back, more information about their return process is detailed.
The Gym Fleece Crewneck in White - Value $39.95 (2 tokens)
I'm a sucker for crewneck + raglan sleeves and thought this white sweatshirt would be the perfect addition to my spring wardrobe. I ordered my normal size and was surprised by how large it looked in person. On, it fits like a classic sweatshirt, and if I would have sized down, the arms and shoulders would be too small. On a positive note, the quality of this sweatshirt is awesome! It is lined in thick fleece and the 98% cotton/2% polyester blend is a tad stretchy in the sleeves and waistband, but mainly super soft. My current climate has been mild so I've pretty much been living in this sweatshirt since I received it.
If this sweatshirt was a boxier or cropped cut, I know I'd be styling it in a less casual manner. However, since it does have a classic sweatshirt fit on me, I've mostly been wearing it with skinny jeans and sneakers (the above are this month's JustFab pick!).
Cotton-Blend Bodycon Skirt in True Black - Value $59.50 (3 tokens)
The second item I chose is this black 80% cotton/20% rayon ribbed knit pencil skirt. I was actually hoping to pair it with the white sweatshirt, but sadly the skirt doesn't fit. When ordering, I referenced the sizing guide and thought my normal size would work, however, it's too small. And I'm a bit on the fence about exchanging for a larger size because my friend Lacey recently had a fit return and the process took a really long time (Frank + Oak is based in Canada).
The skirt quality is great, just like the sweatshirt. There's a thick elastic waistband and the ribbed knit is finished nicely. I also like that the skirt is knee-length and I would get a ton of wear out of this, whether pairing with a crop top, tank top or baggy sweatshirt. I think I may have to put patience aside and exchange it for the next size up!
Verdict: This was my first month from Frank + Oak Style Plan and I'm left with mixed feelings. They undoubtedly offer high-quality clothing, so if you have a minimalistic style or prefer neutral color palettes, this clothing service may be for you. I smiley faced a lot of options during the sign-up process, and wish Frank + Oak would offer tiered plans or the option to purchase more credits so I could purchase what I really loved that costs more than five tokens. For $79, I received a top and bottom that are valued at about $100, which is good. However, the skirt is very small, and since it contributes to the over half of the value, I will need to take the step of returning, regardless of the time it will take.
