Lit Cube's Charm Me Monthly is ending. Thank you, Kelly, for sharing this email with us:

Dear Subscribers,

We have had a very rough start. And we apologize. We had manufacturing issues, quality control issues, and shipping issues all in our very first month. Some of these issues were not our fault and some were. That is the truth of the matter and we can only apologize and try to make everything right & move forward. We have this month's subscription products on the way and those will ship out on time to everyone who has ordered the MAY bag.

We were working very hard behind the scenes to get everything under control, but it's not happening as quickly as we'd like. And since the MAJOR issue lies with the manufacturing/product problems we're running into, we'd rather shut down for a while and get those issues taken care of before proceeding any further and run the risk of disappointing our customers.

So, unfortunately, for right now, we are cancelling ALL subscriptions. You will be receiving your MAY shipment as scheduled and extras from us as an apology. If you had product broken in transit, missing items, or replacement items OWED to you, those will be going out ASAP & we will send you TRACKING when they do ship out. Please be patient. If you prefer a refund for any broken items, etc., let me know and we will refund you instead without any questions asked.

We will ALSO be sending out REFUNDS for anyone who may have ordered a 3 or 6 months subscription for the months we will not be sending out shipments. (1 month owed for 3 month subs & 4 months owed for 6 months subs) We are NOT shutting down for good, but rest assured, when we DO come back it will be with the ABSOLUTE best product we can bring to you guys and the BEST customer service as the Lit-Cube brand is well known for.

Many Blessings,
Peggy Martinez

Geez. The last couple of months have been ROUGH for subscription boxes.

I don’t subscribe to this box…but Little Lace Box could take a note from this sub on how to write an out of business email and promise of refunds.

I want to like this company. I think it’s awesome that the owner is working to create this brand, and sell her products – I’m super supportive of women owned businesses.

That being said, I’m constantly disappointed in her product. I got the Halloween box last year and it was totally underwhelming, I signed up for a sub and cancelled after the second month because all of the items felt like junk. Nothing feels quality for the price, especially compared to other book sub boxes.

Now she has not only Lit-Cube, but Stars Hollow Monthly, this business, and a company selling wax melts. That is a lot for a company that constantly has issues. Most sub companies can’t handle 1 single sub, let alone 4.

I think the email is sincere. Peggy has always welcomed feedback and suggestions from customers. She doesn’t want to disappoint on the new sub. I’m kinda happy to hear it ended, so that focus can be put back on the main 2 subs.

Hmm… Maybe. I remember with the Jane Austen box I was really patient and then I felt duped. Check out some if the comments in MSA. Heck, check out this review: http://sarcasminheels.blogspot.com/2016/10/lost-in-austen-litcube-review.html?m=1

Blog title not withstanding it is an accurate reflection of the issues and the value if that box.

I remember checking online after that experience and seeing reports of Lit Cube coming down hard on people who make less than stellar comments online about them.

Heck, when debating whether or not to cancel my ongoing sub I had some questions and they took forever to respond to me. (And I checked to make sure my question wasn’t in their FAQ. They had a statement that they would not respond to questions that were answered in the FAQ.). And I, personally, had a less than stellar customer service experience.

So, from that experience and from dillegently following MSA reviews and seeing how often they have shipping and product issues. Not to mention the low values compared to inflated listed values of their boxes. (See even the recent review for this now defunct sub.) I can’t help but think this is something that is a part of how Lit Cube functions as a business.

Truthfully this seems par for the course for Lit Cube. They have had shipping delays, promised items undelivered, inflated values with their themed Lit Cube boxes. Each time they profusely apologize and say this is not typical but apparently it is typical.

Exactly this. I really loved several of the reviews from Lit Cube in the early days, so I subscribed for a few months. I thought the items were so cute in the pictures, but that’s not a good tell of quality though.

Each month got worse and worse in terms of quality for the items and there were several mix-ups and delays. The last one I got was the Sherlocke box in December, and I absolutely hated it. The items really seemed like they came from a dollar store.

It’s way too expensive of a box to have such cheap quality items. It’s a shame too because the ideas they have for some of the items are really good; it’s just they don’t execute well at all.

Also, with the Stars Hollow monthly, I never got the box because I keep waiting for them to get to the items “inspired” by the show, rather than branded by it. I haven’t seen that happen yet, and the quality appears to be going down for it too.

I have a feeling their other boxes will end up ending over the next year too, with the first being SHM because it’s such a specific audience.

Ah, so shipments from China are not reliable and the product is sub-par. Got it.
