The bag came with this information card. This month it did have some directions for the items, although that didn’t always help (see below).
Peripera Power Up Hand Cream in Peach (30 mL) – Value $3.30
Wow, I haven’t thought about the Power Puff girls for like 20 years. I’m not sure what the ingredients are, but it absorbed well and the scent was pleasant but not overwhelming. It also didn’t irritate my skin, which has been a bit troubled lately. Subscribers randomly received one of three different scents.
Innisfree Jeju Sparkling Mineral Powder (15 g + 15 g) – Value $2.50
I didn’t know what the ingredients were before I used this, but I strongly suspected baking soda and some organic acid that comes in powder form And I was right, the ingredients are sodium bicarbonate and citric acid. This comes in two separate packets inside the envelope and you mix one, then the other into a bowl of water and put it over your face either with your hands or by putting your face in the bowl. Of course, bubbles start to form after you add the second powder. (There are some fruit extracts in here, as well.)
I’m not sure I’m a fan of this product. I don’t feel it cleansed my face much, but to be fair, I was kind of oily and sweaty after exercise and maybe that was too big of a job. Also, I didn’t like the way the bubbles/acid felt on my lips or around my eyes when I put my face in the bowl, and I got a tiny bit in my eye, which was also not fun. I know there are a lot of devotees of cleansing with carbonation but this didn’t do much to convert me. Oh well, at least I have now tried it once.
Cosmo Monster Honey Charcoal Mask – Value $7.59
This, on the other hand, was a hit (and expensive for a single sheet mask, too!). I love charcoal masks and honey masks so getting them together in one product was great. This had a slight artificial honey scent (you’ll be familiar with this if you’ve tried much K-beauty skincare with honey in it) but I found it pleasant. Honey has antibacterial properties and charcoal is great at drawing gunk out of my pores, and those are both things I need right now. This did not dry out while in use but was relatively low on serum so it didn’t take long to absorb into my skin after I removed the mask.
Hera Zeal Perfumed Soap (60 g) – Value $3.73
I don’t often receive bath products from TutiiBag so this was a nice change of pace. I am more of a fan of bar soap, thanks to subscription boxes, than I used to be, and now I switch between bar soap and shower gel as the mood hits me. This has a pretty strong floral scent that I am totally fine with in a bar soap I rinse off (might not want it in a lotion that stays with me). This did a fine job of getting me clean after a workout, too.
Farm Stay Jeju Mayu Complete UV Sun Cream with Horse Oil (70 g) – Value $8.90
I knew it was only a matter of time before I received a K-beauty product with horse oil in it. I don’t know any of the other ingredients, but based on how it absorbed into the skin of my arms, I am guessing it is mostly chemical (rather than mineral) sunscreen. (I sometimes get rashes from chemical sunscreens so I test all unknowns on my arms. So far, so good, a few hours later.) This was a white cream with a slight scent (pleasant and not overpowering, by any means) that absorbed quickly and didn’t leave a lot of residue (there was some, but that’s not so unusual for a sunscreen). I don’t have much sunscreen left in my stash and it is getting to be that time of year where I really need it, so this is useful to receive.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $26.02 for the April 2017 TutiiBag, which is a really good value for this subscription. (Granted, K-beauty prices are all over the place and you also have to deal with long shipping times, minimum orders, currency conversion, etc.) The sparkling mineral powder wasn’t such a hit but I loved the mask and I will use up everything else, plus all these products (and some of the brands) were definitely new to me.
What did you think of the April 2017 TutiiBag? Do you get any K-Beauty or Asian Beauty subscriptions?
