Now, onto the items!
Farmhouse Fresh Shea Butter Hand Cream - FULL SIZE! Value $14
I received "Pink Moon," and the booklet shows "Whoopie Cream," so it is safe to assume that scents will vary.
This hand cream is gluten free, vegan, paraben free, and sulfate free! The scent is described as "a dreamy Texas night sky with notes of licorice blossom, powder and spun sugar." I definitely got the powder and sugar from the cream. It's a really sweet scent - it reminds me of Pink Sugar perfume.
The hand cream formula is great. It's rich and moisturizing but didn't leave my hands feeling greasy.
Marula Oil Rare Oil Style Perfecting Serum - FULL SIZE! Value $28
While the hand cream might be a tad too sweet for me, this hair serum fragrance is PERFECT! It's a lightweight hair oil that helps give your hair a little extra shine and softness. (Helps with flyaways, too.)
The directions instruct you to use this only on damp hair, but I tried it on dry hair as well and loved the results.
Hair Food Hair Milk Cleansing Conditioner - FULL SIZE! Value $10
Sometimes when I'm reviewing boxes, I put any shower items in the shower as soon as I get them so I don't forget to use them. I did that with this product but didn't look at the booklet before I got in the shower, so I wasn't 100% sure how to use it. Cleansing Conditioner means skip shampoo right? But NOWHERE on the bottle do they explicitly instruct you to skip shampoo and use this only.
Perhaps this is really obvious, but in my tired state, I decided to just use it as a regular conditioner, and it worked well. (If you aren't into cleansing conditioners, this one works just as well as your standard conditioner.)
Colorscience Sunforgettable Brush-On Sunscreen SPF 50 - 2 g Value $21
This sample is 1/3 the size of the full-size version.
This is a loose mineral sunscreen with a built in blush applicator:
The design is slick, and I'd say the only hesitation I had with using it at first was that it was tricky to see if I was applying enough (the powder blends in really well).
Here is a closer look at the powder:
I received the shade Medium. (Not sure if there will be shade variation in this box.)
I found the powder to blend in to be pretty invisible. The great thing about this is that you can easily use it over makeup. Or if you're going makeup free, it will give you just a bit of coverage.
Bio-Oil – .5 oz Value $1.50
This is a lightweight oil designed to help with stretch marks, discoloration, and scars. I hate when cosmetic companies add artificial dyes to products that don't need them, but besides that, I think this is an impressive body oil for the price point.
(It amazingly gets good reviews when it comes to stretch marks, too!)
Luzern Labs (2-piece kit) - Total Value $19
Luzern Urban Protect Daily Moisturizer – 10 ml
(Good to know for swaps – this product has an inner foil seal.)
This set includes the daily moisturizer pictured above and a foil packet of the Urban Protect Detox Masque (4 ml). (Forgot to take a picture of the mask – will add that soon!)
The creamy mask is designed to protect your skin while unclogging pores. It left my skin feeling super clean and smooth, but my skin was red for about 15 minutes after I removed it. (I think that’s normal for this type of mask, but I recommend spot testing it first if you have sensitive skin.)
The daily moisturizer is a lightweight, yellow gel/cream hybrid that felt lovely going on my skin after I removed the mask. (And it absorbed quickly, too!)
Cailyn Dizzolv’It – .44 oz Value $6.25
This product was in a New Beauty Test Tube before (January 2016), but I'm ok with the repeat because Dizzolv'It is amazing!
This product is a “Makeup Melt Cleansing Balm.” It is an oil formula you use to remove makeup by applying it to dry skin and massage to remove all makeup. It worked almost instantaneously on my hard-to-remove eyeliner and left my skin super smooth after washing it off with water.
Also worth noting, this item and the following brush are not listed in the booklet - so there may be some item variation.
Diane by Fromm Mini Oval Paddle Brush - Value $7
This isn't a high-end brush, but it's a great travel spare!
Works well enough to be your only brush on a trip, and cheap enough so that you don't care if you accidentally leave it behind!
Miss Spa Hydrogel Eye Treatment Deep Wrinkle - Value $7
I love that these are sulfate, paraben, and fragrance free!
But unfortunately, these weren't for me. They kept slipping off!
And considering you are supposed to wear them for 45 minutes, that wasn't going to work. After about 10 minutes of constantly readjusting them on my face, I gave up!
Skin & Co Truffle Therapy Serum - 5 ml Value $11.70
This serum is designed to help brighten and hydrate skin. I didn't notice any instant results, and the sample isn't large enough to try it over a few weeks, but I can tell you that the lightweight formula is gentle!
Verdict: This box has a value of about $125. I think the value is fantastic, and I LOVE that they are including lots of new brands in this new version of New Beauty Test Tube. (Previously, there were a good amount of repeat brands.) Lots of full-size items this month, too!
