PLVSH Women's Plus Clothing Subscription Box - May 2017

PLVSH Style is a subscription styling service for plus-size women. They describe themselves as "Concierge Styling, Exclusively for Women Sizes 14+." I love this type of box! When I signed up, I had to fill out a pretty in-depth questionnaire regarding my size, style preferences, and lifestyle in order for them to select pieces that are just right for me. Selections for each subscriber will (and should) vary.

PLVSH sent this info sheet with details on each item and a brief explanation of why each piece was chosen for me. I really like knowing that everything was hand selected for me!

Slink Roll Crop Boyfriend Jeans - Cost to keep $98

These jeans are really cute - so cute, in fact, that I just bought some recently from a different subscription box. You'll notice, however, that I am not modeling these. This is because I have had a sizing issue with PLVSH from the beginning that has never been straightened out. The first two boxes I got from PLVSH included jeans from NYJD, which I had never tried at the time. NYJD is known for their slimming technology, and I was anxious to try them. BUT, NYJD runs large, so both months they were too big and the slimming technology was all for naught. I asked if they ever sent NYJD again to please size down. Since that time, they have sent me the wrong size for all pants, jeans, and skirts. So, these are too small.

Side Twist Striped Top by Bobeau - Cost to keep $62

I love this top! I love the small black and white stripes - so classic! I also think the side twist is really cute, and somehow not bulky (like they tend to be). It's also a really comfortable cotton knit.

Chambray Top by Vince Camuto - Cost to keep $89

I am cautiously open to the off-the-shoulder trend that seems to be all the rage this season, but this top is not for me. I think it actually looks kind of cute, but for some reason, I feel like I'm on an episode of Hee-Haw. It's too "country". I hope I don't sound too harsh, but I know I just gave away my age if that makes up for it.

Sunlight Loose Fit Blouse by Alison Dominy - Cost to keep $150

This blouse is actually two layers - a 100% bamboo knit tank underneath a silk and mesh outer oversized blouse. I think the color is kind of drab for my tastes. I know it's really high end and high fashion, but I don't think it's very flattering on me.

Basic Dolman Sleeve Tee by 17Sundays - Cost to keep $49.95

This is a really flattering tee! It's a viscose elastane blend, which means it won't wrinkle, but I might have to launder it carefully. I love the seam down the front, and the neckline is perfect for me.

Verdict: I have been a big fan of PLVSH for a long time, but I am really frustrated with their inability to grasp my size. I am the same size in all major labels. NYJD just tends to run a bit large, so I asked for an exception. PLVSH prides itself on concierge styling, so I would like to believe that asking for one sizing exception should be within their reach. In any case, other than that issue, I liked two tops and didn't like two tops, which is pretty reasonable for any styling service. I really enjoy trying the high-end pieces PLVSH typically sends, too.

first – you look ridiculously cute in the stripped top! i hope you keep it!

second – omfg, am i the only one cringing at the prices??? ouch!
i would love to do a sub box where the style me, but the prices are just crazy. i’m spoiled by stores in my area like gabe’s!

love your reviews and how you show what the clothing looks like, though!

I really like that striped top on you! The off the shoulder would be cute but the denim makes it look a bit tacky? the gray shirt is just way too big on you and the black one is cute but a typical top. i don’t think any are necessarily worth their price tag imo.

As for Plvsh, I’m hesitant to try them due to having to use a credit card and needing $500 on the card. For me, I’d rather go to Dia & Co or Stitch Fix where I can use my debit card.

First I lovvvvvve your reviews!!! I always read them!lol
But these items seem seriously over priced. Nothing was unique enough to justify the prices. I’m not sure about this sub….seems way too pricey for what could be found at a decent Tj Maxx in a similar style maybe not brand…but style for sure.

Noelle

I loved them all but the gray top….The Hee Haw is workable…a summer pin or??

I feel like the black top isn’t special enough to justify the cost. And although I think you look really cute in the off the shoulder top, if you feel self conscious in it, you won’t wear it.
I think I’m too frugal for this sub box.

Thanks for the input Julie!

I agree, I like the black top but I could find one way cheaper. That grey top though? Wth is up with that. It’s so boxy and doesn’t flatter any body type imo maybe a swim suit cover up but not for that price! I can find a raw silk (I assume that’s raw) for much cheaper and more flattering at a upscale store. I think the pricing a bit high for the tops, not horrible for the jeans though.

I think a lot of people feel that way, Jenn. Thanks!

Loba

I am loving that black top on you! Work it! 😉

The only top I wasn’t a fan if was the off the shoulder top. And it was for the same reason you didn’t like it. I think if it wasn’t chambray or maybe had some detailing, like embroidery, the shirt would have felt different.

I actually liked that grey combo on you; but, if you don’t like it, and at $150, then you shouldn’t get it.

Thanks for these reviews. I really enjoy your reviews. I don’t always get a chance to comment but I wanted to let you, and the other MSA reviewers, know that I really appreciate these reviews. You all have helped me decide which boxes to try and unfortunately have parted me from a lot of money! 😉
