Stelle Audio Pillar in Carmel Wood - Value $300
Wow! This speaker is gorgeous! (And that's a sentence I've never said before!) I love that this is a speaker that you actually would want to display!
It has everything you'd want in a speaker, including 360 sound, a built-in speakerphone, Bluetooth, and a 15-hour rechargeable battery. My husband Eric is a bit of a speaker snob (Sonos is his go-to) and he was seriously impressed with this speaker.
And we both loved that the voice of the speaker sounds like Bertie from the NetFlix show Love!
Here is the speaker in hand to give you a better sense of scale. It is about 12 inches tall.
This box also included samples of fabric wall coverings from Maya Romanoff. (The other sample is the size of the box and pictured at the top of this review).
All Robb Vices subscribers get a $250 credit toward a wall covering purchase, and you can also enter to win $2000 toward a wall covering purchase plus a 1-hour design consultation.
We're not in need of any wall coverings, but I'm going to try using the larger sample that was inside the lid as a bulletin board.
K+M Extra Virgin Chocolate Bar - Value $15
K+M Extra-Virgin Chocolate sources the finest cocoa beans, processing them in a unique way to preserve the antioxidants commonly lost in the chocolate-making process, then adding a small amount of Manni heart-healthy extra-virgin olive oil for an additional boost of antioxidants.
This chocolate bar is made with only organic ingredients: Organic cocoa beans, organic sugar, organic Manni extra-virgin olive oil, and organic soy lecithin.
This wasn't overly sweet, and it is helping me become more of a dark chocolate fan!
It's a smooth chocolate, and I love that I can tell myself that it is good for me! 🙂
Jose Andres Extra Virgin Olive Oil Sampler Set - Value $5
Another decadent food item that is good for you, too! The Arbequina is great for salads, vegetables or grilled fish. The Cornicabra is great for seafood, pasta or paella. The Picual is great for sautéing vegetables or meats. And the Secret Blend is good for everything!
I'm planning on cooking with my mom on Mother's Day, and these will be a perfect addition to making the meal a little more special!
And these olive oils also come with an exclusive coupon from Jose Andres! You'll get a surprise specialty item with your meal when you present this card at one of his restaurants.
Braven Flye Sport Wireless Earbuds - Value $50
These wireless earbuds loop behind your neck with a tangle free cable:
They are lightweight, comfortable, and they have an inline mic, volume, and track controls. (Plus 12 hours of playback per battery charge.)
Again, I had Eric help me out with evaluating the audio. His feedback? "These are so good that I'm keeping them." I guess that says it all!
These earbuds also come with multiple silicone covers for a comfortable fit:
And a little pouch to keep everything together!
And to go with these headphones, we have two different fitness offers:
Soulcycle Free Pass - Value $34
If you have a Soul Cycle in your city, I am officially envious of you! (Check out the locations here.)
Equinox Personal Training Session - Value $150?
Again, this is another voucher that I won't be able to redeem in Pittsburgh, but I think I'm going to send both to an LA friend so they can enjoy!
Gardens An Essay on the Human Condition by Robert Pogue Harrison - Retail Value $15 (On Amazon for $11.86)
Book Summary from Amazon:
Humans have long turned to gardens—both real and imaginary—for sanctuary from the frenzy and tumult that surrounds them. Those gardens may be as far away from everyday reality as Gilgamesh’s garden of the gods or as near as our own backyard, but in their very conception and the marks they bear of human care and cultivation, gardens stand as restorative, nourishing, necessary havens.
With Gardens, Robert Pogue Harrison graces readers with a thoughtful, wide-ranging examination of the many ways gardens evoke the human condition. Moving from from the gardens of ancient philosophers to the gardens of homeless people in contemporary New York, he shows how, again and again, the garden has served as a check against the destruction and losses of history. The ancients, explains Harrison, viewed gardens as both a model and a location for the laborious self-cultivation and self-improvement that are essential to serenity and enlightenment, an association that has continued throughout the ages. The Bible and Qur’an; Plato’s Academy and Epicurus’s Garden School; Zen rock and Islamic carpet gardens; Boccaccio, Rihaku, Capek, Cao Xueqin, Italo Calvino, Ariosto, Michel Tournier, and Hannah Arendt—all come into play as this work explores the ways in which the concept and reality of the garden has informed human thinking about mortality, order, and power.
Alive with the echoes and arguments of Western thought, Gardens is a fitting continuation of the intellectual journeys of Harrison’s earlier classics, Forests and The Dominion of the Dead. Voltaire famously urged us to cultivate our gardens; with this compelling volume, Robert Pogue Harrison reminds us of the nature of that responsibility—and its enduring importance to humanity.
I do not have a green thumb, but I wish I did! While I normally wouldn't pick up a book on gardening, the summary of this book seems fascinating. (It gets good reviews, too.)
Verdict: This box has a retail value of about $385 (without including any of the discount offers and free passes.) If you count the value of the Soul Cycle and Equinox passes, the value goes up to about $570! (Since not everyone will be able to use those offers, I'm not counting them toward the value.) With shipping, this box costs less than $100, so I think the $385 value is incredible.
And the curation in this box is amazing! This is my first Robb Vices box and I am SO impressed! I loved sampling everything, and this is going to be my go-to splurge gift. It's perfect for that question, "What do you get the person who has everything?"
What do you think of this box from Robb Vices?
