There’s an app (I assume some of you already have) called “Bunny Free” from PETA that let’s you lookup companies to see if they test on animals. The method in which a company tests isn’t a factor for me personally as I go by either they do or they don’t.

Here’s a quick list of some popular sub brands that are on their “do test” list for easy reference: Algenist, Estee Lauder, Aveeno, Benefit, L’Oreal, Chapstick, Clinique, Dr. Brandt, Dr, Jart, GlamGlow, Jurlique, L’Occitane, Makeup Forever, Shiseido, Vichy etc.

Hope that helps!

Would really appreciate it if you could review the box! I’ve only tried one product from this brand before but that’s it. I have to say I liked the product but their prices were always high so I’ve never ventured beyond the sample I received years ago.

Thank you!

I wonder if it is sold out. It isn’t coming up for me.

I love many of Clarins products. I would get this box if I wasn’t so overloaded with products. Please review this so I can get an idea of what the box is like for future purchase.

Let’s clear up one thing on animal testing.

Every “cruelty free” brand uses that claim to state that their end product is not tested on animals.

For example, let’s say I’m making an eye cream. For simplicities sake, my eye cream is: glycerin, hyaluronic acid, and sodium ascorbate. Every one of these products has been tested on animals ad nauseum (so we know they are safe…).

I buy my materials in bulk, food grade materials (which it’s not required to state on the label if they are tested on animals, so I can either play dumb or just ignore it). I mix my ingredients, put them in a jar, and TA-DA!! I have a vegan, cruelty free eye cream!

But do I really?

I’m just tired of these arguments because “cruelty free” is nothing but a buzzword. It’s nothing but a ploy to sell you products and convince you to toss your old products in the trash. It’s MARKETING. You want to make a difference, start lobbying for Cruelty-free to have meaning. Right now, it has zero accountability to it.

Responsible beauty??? Plant based products??? Who are they trying to kid? The theme of this box is really pathetic. We LOVE the planet and nature and we are an ethical company (while forcing bunnies in steel holding devices and pouring gallons of mascara in their eyes). NO, Clarins. I cannot believe this issue is still a thing in 2017. I also can’t believe people who care more for a new face cream than they do about animal suffering. . 😿

One of the reasons I love reading the comments is to discover new information to research. After reading your comments I did some preliminary research and I am just astounded. I don’t know if I hate the animal testing more or a name on the box relating to Earth and promoting it that way to imply environmentally responsible. I had originally thought about buying multiple boxes but I find this sale tactic very misleading. I dislike wishy washy companies. I would have more respect (although I wouldn’t buy the products) if they say yes we animal test, as oppose to in order to accomodate laws in one country so we can reach those customers, blah blah blah, as a way to justify.

And by the way, even though I have strong feelings about this topic, I have no disrespect for people choosing what they want to buy or even buying this product. I just feel Clarins is being deceptive with this promotion by emphasizing Earth, etc. I do hope if they read the comments that they seriously make some major changes.

Agree. Even worse are the women saying meh I feel bad for the animals but oh well I want the box. Just awful.

Karen, I just posted a reply to you telling you that I agree with you 100%. My comment did not post. It may do so later, but if it doesn’t, I will think that the mods do not want this subject on their main page. If that is the case, I would be very disappointed with MSA. 🙁

Punkykiki

Karen, I am with you 100%. How are people so cruel? It’s not honesty; it’s a LIE. You cannot “feel bad” and still buy this box!!! And if you bought this box without knowing that Clarins was responsible for an enormous amount of animals suffering untold horrors, then I am POSITIVE you could cancel your order and get a full refund. I would rather the Cruellas OWN their actions and just say, “Whatever. I want this box and I couldn’t care less about animals or their suffering.”

Missy

Are they known for this or something?? I don’t know much about clairins brand. I have gotten 1-2 samples from them in some Sephora kits but that’s about it. I sure don’t want to support a company that abuses animals for the sake of cosmetics!

Missy, Clarins is like most other big brands who do the same thing. There were several cosmetic brands that did not test on animals originally, but then expanded their lines to China. China had a law that required all health and beauty products to be tested on animals. I have read recently that this stipulation has been changed and animal testing will no longer be required for the purpose of selling a cosmetic product. Hopefully all the big name brands will cease immediately, but it will be very interesting to see if brands who have ALWAYS tested to now switch to humane standards and stop using animals. The thing that makes Clarins stand out as super disgusting is their practice of trying to confuse people who think they are environmentally friendly and plant based and a company that supports “responsible beauty”. Usually these things are grouped together with a cruelty-free product, so people buy their line thinking they are getting a nice item that is so animal-earth friendly. What a marketing ploy!!! I would love to see them revamp their position in the very near future…..until then, I will not give Clarins one single penny.

Ordered one, plus three free samples, plus 10% off, with tax it was $42. Feel bad for animals, but looking forward to try the box. I am not being cynical, jut truthful.

The box is suppose to include 7 items from their new line of product called “spa at home” collection. That is all I have, I did purchase mine and used 10% off coupon so it was like getting the shipping free. I would not have ordered had I read this post about animal testing before I purchase. My mistake, but it happens

I cant find any similar box similar to this one to get a good idea of what will be included. is it the first time they release a box?

Luna

Yes, in their description above they state this their 1st edition.

Sheila

It also says free shipping over $75. Hmm.

Clarins loves nature…but still supports cosmetic testing on animals 🙁 While they have some nice products I personally can’t support them and the “theme” of this box rubs me the wrong way.

I feel the same. Their products worked on my sensitive skin, but after finding it they support testing of animals I stopped purchasing their products a few years ago=(

Thank you for the info on animal testing

Need more information! What size are these products? Clarins make lovely products but these may all be sample sizes since no size is given.

Luna

I was thinking the same thing. At that price they’re most likely deluxe samples. But I’m still tempted by this box, because I love Claris products, and their deluxe samples are pretty generous in size.

Hmm… IDK anything about this box. Anyone know what items might be?

I just received this box in the mail. It includes a reusable face cleansing glove and an eye makeup remover (1 oz) and foaming cleanser (1.4 oz) to use with it. You also get a bath and shower concentrate (1 oz) and a night cream (.5 oz). There is also a satin heart in the box, I assume for decoration, and a booklet describing the items.

I am getting my box tonight. It sounds like all samples 🙁 Are you happy with it? Thank you!
