This month's selection is Tidal by Fiona Apple - the first time on vinyl!
The selections come with a little foreword by a VMP employee - it's a nice personal touch to the selections.
This month's vinyl isn't a custom pressing - instead, it's the first time on vinyl!
Tidal by Fiona Apple
Once again, I was REALLY excited for the selection. While I'm not a huge Fiona Apple fan, I've always enjoyed Tidal, When The Pawn, and Extraordinary Machine - and I was happy to finally get something on vinyl.
There's nothing too special about the cover, it's the same as the cd release.
Inside, it includes a special 12 pages of liner notes with lyrics to every song.
Sleep To Dream, Shadowboxer, and Criminal are all incredible songs - and are even better with that bit of crackly goodness from a vinyl!
While there is not special color vinyl, I'm not sure it was needed with the exclusive pressing.
The album still really holds up - what an incredible artist. I can still remember seeing the video for Criminal on MTV and just having a sense of bewilderment...who is this? She's AWESOME! This album, in particular, is a real delight to revisit.
As always, it comes with an LP-sized piece of custom artwork to go with the album.
And a drink custom drink mix to try out. Since I'm not a vodka drinker, I went with an old standby of gin + tonic! That being said, I do love the idea of a drink mix, because I love being able to simply sit and take in a record - and a nice drink definitely raises the level!
Verdict: Another great month for Vinyl Me, Please! While I've only reviewed a few months, I've really enjoyed both - and have already gone back and purchased previous month's albums from the member store! If you're a collector, this is a great subscription for you because you're getting exclusive pressing each month, and access to more exclusive albums in the members-only store.
