Coastal Scents Revealed 3 Palette Sampler - 2.4 g Value $1.60

This is a TINY sampler, but at least you get to try 4 different colors.

The pigment varies a bit on these. The two shimmery shades gave me the most color payoff, the highlight matte white color took multiple swipes to show up, and the satin lighter bronze shade had decent pigment.

LARITZY Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Bare - FULL SIZE! Value $18

This is a nice neutral shade for my lips, and the pigment is good, too. (And I appreciate that all LaRitzy products are paraben and cruelty free.)

Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliner in Blue Hawaii - FULL SIZE! Value $7

This felt-tip eyeliner lets you get a precision line:

And the pigment is SO impressive! The liner just glides on and gives you the boldest blue color. Here it is swatched above the lip liner and eyeshadow sampler:

Prestige Cosmetics My Biggest Lashes Mascara – FULL SIZE! Value $7.50

I always compare mascaras to my all-time favorite (tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes), and this one held up pretty well!

The formula goes on light, but you can apply multiple layers without any clumping issues. I was able to get impressive volume and length with this formula!

Did Hair Jeweled Hair Tie ~~Set~~ - Value $7.50

(FYI - subscribers are supposed to receive two hair ties, but my box was missing one.)

Considering I wear hair ties on my wrist more than in my hair, I'm happy to report that the sparkly bead on this hair tie wasn't annoying on my wrist!

Verdict: This month's Beauty Box 5 has a retail value of about $41.60. I think that's great for a $12 box! The eyeliner and mascara were the standout products for me this month, but everything in the box worked for me and will go to use.

What happened to the “july” review from here?! I posted a comment on it a couple days back, now I can’t find it…I signed up 3 months ago after seeing a review here, and had to fight to get all my boxes..now am supposed to get august, they took the money, yet no box…seems their Facebook people are saying they stopped posting to Instagram, and now Facebook messages…no info to no one….so does this mean they are out of bussiness?!? Do I file a charge back with my cc??

Hey. I got a fb messenger reply from them after signing up and being charged June 22. They told me on Aug 4th that on Aug 6th they were shipping out all July boxes and on the 20 th they were shipping the August boxes. I should be getting july, Aug and Sept. I FINALLY got my box on July 25th. YES i would definitely call your bank and reverse the charge . Also, if you haven’t yet, go into your acct and delete your credit card payment info so they can’t continue to charge you in Sept. Best of luck.

so.. its the 9th of August. Both July and August have been charged and July has yet to be shipped out… am I missing something here?

Beauty Box 5 is AWFUL!!!! bought a subscription for my daughter and she’s been so so disappointed every month!! 3 out of the 7 months she had it, they were stupid late! I e-mailed, with no response for 5-7 days asking about it….. they finally said they changed the ship dates….
well thanks for letting a paying customer know!! Plain awful and I’ll let everyone I know all about it!!
They’re terrible!

I ordered on 1 August and I have not received my box either or no response back with any emails when do they ship this box out to you though

So i got a response on Aug 3 saying they were shipping all July boxes on the 6th and would send email confirmations with tracking and all Aug boxes wiyld be shipped on the 18th. I got an email from them on the 18th saying my box was being shipped. So they lied to me and several others that we were getting the July box. But at least in getting SOMETHIMG. I will update this review when and IF i actually get a box. I thought by them taking my money on June 22nd meant I waa getting a July box, but maybe they ran out. Who knows. Just wanted to let you know what i was told. Best of luck to you.

I subbed and prepaid for 3 months on June 22nd, 2017! Do you know that i still have not gotten ANY BOX, NOR A RESPONSE to the 2 emails i sent both in July as to WHERE MY BOXES ARE!!?? I’m beyond infuriated! If they’d of just responded with whatever the issue is, I’d of been ok waiting! i want my money back but why email them for a third time so they can continue to ignore me?? My bff has been a subscriber for 2 years she loves them, but is understanding my frustration now bc she’s not been shipped her July box either, but was already charged for Aug!!! Oh and no responses to her emails either!!! I’m done and will tell EVERYONE I KNOW about this!!! #noexcusebb5

I got the Violet eyeliner too. I was excited for the blue but at least it’s something new and I really was more excited for the pop of color. I will try it. Happy it wasn’t black or brown.

I just cancelled. I signed up on June 4th for both the monthly and mystery box. I received my mystery box, but still haven’t received the monthly one. I emailed them 5 days ago cause it says the order is still processing, but they still haven’t replied.

Go to facebook and message them..I had same issue, but I didn’t cancel and they sent it right out..email response wasn’t great

Make sure to call your bank or credit card company ASAP & speak w/ someone personally. Look this company up on the BBB site. You can’t get a response from their parent company either. I had to go to the BBB & go into my bank over this company. They actually ended up costing me money but still would not respond & billed yet again?! Went back to the bank, that’s when the bank refunded the fees for “stop payment”. My bank was able to make contact somehow regarding the stolen funds. Finally! After months of this company’s crap, I am no longer being billed & finally got refunded some of what they owed me but I’m still out $15.00 for a mystery sample box + shipping.

That’s crazy! Wow thanks for the tips! The least they could’ve done is give me an estimated shipping date. I checked out their Instagram and wadaya know….So many complaints on not getting any replies. Sigh

I love this box. So happy to get a blue eyeliner, and mascara I have never tried. The coastal is great since there are 4 colors instead of the 2 I get from birchbox. I always get items I never get from other subs! Plus I only pay $5 a month for this box. I got the btbf deal for $7 then got a special promo from bb5 for 2$2 off the $7 for a year! Yay!

Does anyone else have trouble with customer service here?? I signed up in june, got a mystery box and monthly box and a free eyeshadow (last month’s deal) and I got the mystery box within a week and a half…no may box…I figured they would not charge me come july..but they do charge me again on July first, and I STILL have no boxes besides the mystery box. I have reached out several times and I get an email back saying “thanks babel got your email, someone will get back with you” and never does. ..

Gosh, this looks really fun! I just received this same Laritzy lip liner in Bare in my Benevolent box and the rest looks great too. I wonder if I can sub now and still get the same box?

Liz, I appreciate so much the little-but-important info you and all MSA reviewers add. I wondered what shade the lip pencil Beau was, and there was the link right in your review. I appreciate that there are almost always links in spoiler alerts too.

I’m thrilled to see an eyeliner that a) is not pencil or gel, because my old crepe-y eyes won’t put up with them, and b) is a gorgeous bright color, not the same old black or brown or colors that are so dark that someone has to be really close to you to see that it’s not black.

I will admit that I’ve enjoyed all subscription boxes a lot more since I started swapping (I also subscribed to a lot more, too). It’s not as big a deal to me if I get some products / colors I don’t like, because I can swap them with other folks for things I do like. It does take some time and extra money but I really love it.

Hmmmm I have to say I’m very underwhelmed with bb5 this month.Im just not impressed that they put a sampler of eyeshadows that you get when you purchase something from coastal .Then basically a pencil,pen, rubber band and a mascara.Oh well this is really the first time I’ve felt this way about bb5 “So hopefully it’s way better next month because I pay almost 17.00 for each box

Sorry I quoted the wrong amount I pay ,that amount is for my allure.The price I pay is 12.00 plus tax because I live in Texas.I think I’ll just go ahead and cancel when my three months is up ,then I’ll maybe come back later when a good deal is offered so I can get the box for 7.00

Yeah, the first time I saw the spoilers for this month’s box I thought this wasn’t a good value, especially since I don’t even know what I’d use a hair tie like that for (seems like it would tangle, and I am not sure how flexible it is), and the shade of that blue eyeliner is too light for my taste (now a rich cobalt color – that I could definitely go for). And the eyeshadow sampler has no retail value, I did get all the varieties for free with my previous purchases from Coastal Scents.
Really the only thing I would have used (maybe, potentially) is the mascara, and it’s only worth $7.50. Oh, and the lip liner if I received it in “beau” (the one above is really not my color).
Super glad I am not subscribed this month.

Same. I canceled after receiving this box. I was just underwhelmed. Those types of hairbands for me dont even pretend to hold my hair. The lip pencil was too dark for me. The eye shadows didnt show up well for me even after applying with a heavy hand. I did like the mascara, but that blue eyeliner? Blech! I dont know if that means I’m saturated with too many makeup products or what, but I decided it wasnt worth it anymore!
