Wow I had no idea Julep sold their company. But I had noticed the pricing and value had changed. That being said I do think their box is still a great deal with the 6 month plan.

It is a bit of an unusual arrangement. Jane is still the CEO. Julep now gets business guidance from Glansaol and is part of Glansaol’s long-range global plans. Still, it seems clear that Julep is making some strategic changes that will impact the Mavens program and yet have not told the Mavens anything about the sale, let alone the changes now and to come.

Here’s one article on the sale. It’s a bit cheerleader-y, but the more balanced articles are behind paywalls.

Wow. Interesting read. Thanks for posting that article. It will be interesting to see how Julep changes in the future and when/if they will actually make any announcements to the mavens.

In March I ordered a two polish gift set that was $9.99. Now the two polish gift sets are $20 and the three polish sets are $30. Those are Maven prices. That’s only slightly less than the single polish Maven price of $11.20 each. There’s definitely price creep happening, but Julep hasn’t even told the Mavens about the sale of the company. The only reason I know is that they are based in my hometown and the regional business paper wrote about it.

Has anyone else been noticing some small but potentially significant changes in Julep since they were bought by Glansaol at the start of 2017? A three polish box is way less of a welcome gift than 12 full-sized polishes, and it sounds like the most recent 12 polish offer was less luxe than the one I received for joining last November.

I always only order skincare products with my box and I cannot pick the same value anymore. I was able to pick as example two of the face milk products in the past to fill up my box but now I can only pick one and a konjac sponge. For me that is a hidden price increase and I started to skip boxes.

I had the same issue this month. A few months ago I was able to get 2 of their primers and something small like a nail file or polish. I absolutely loved the primers, so when I saw the two new ones, I wanted to try both. Well, two items were all I could add and other combinations I tried with one primer gave me options of nail stickers (no thanks, I’m 32 and couldn’t wear those to work) and a polish.

I’ve always liked their skincare for the most part and since I have a million polishes, I can justify paying $20 for two primers this time, but in the long run, I will likely skip or cancel altogether. If I only got a mascara and lip gloss or two primers from beauty fix or glossy, I’d be pretty pissed. Especially since they have created their own brand and don’t have to source products.
