Lootcrate DX - May 2017 - Guardians - all the items in the May box

The May Loot Crate DX included mostly Superhero items fro the second month in a row (not complaining!) - it featured Star-Lord, Wonder Woman, Destiny, and an exclusive Marvel book!

Lootcrate DX - May 2017 - Guardians - Destiny Ghost Pin in package

Lootcrate DX - May 2017 - Guardians - Destiny Ghost Pin

Destiny Ghost Pin - Value $5-10?

This month's pin features your very own Destiny Ghost to carry around on your lapel.

Lootcrate DX - May 2017 - Guardians - Destiny Shirt

Destiny Shirt - Value $15?

This month included only one wearable item - it's this exclusive Destiny Shirt.

Lootcrate DX - May 2017 - Guardians - Destiny Shirt close up front

Lootcrate DX - May 2017 - Guardians - Destiny Shirt close up back

It's got almost hidden graphics on the front and back of the shirt. The graphic represents The Last City in a nice and subtle way.

Lootcrate DX - May 2017 - Guardians - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Star-Lord QFig Max Figure box

Lootcrate DX - May 2017 - Guardians - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Star-Lord QFig Max Figure with box

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Star-Lord QFig Max - Value $20-25 based on other QFigs

I *think* this is the first month of Loot Crate DX with a QFig - and I couldn't be more excited after seeing it. There was literally an audible gasp as I pulled this out of the box.

Lootcrate DX - May 2017 - Guardians - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Star-Lord QFig Max Figure

This is marked as a "Timed Exclusive", so you'll eventually be able to buy these - but you'll get it here first.

Lootcrate DX - May 2017 - Guardians - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Star-Lord QFig Max Figure close up details

Such a fantastic sculpt! QFigs are right up there with Funko in terms of collectibility for me - I'm just loving them more and more as I get each new figure.

Lootcrate DX - May 2017 - Guardians - Wonder Woman DC Bombshells Figure - in box

Lootcrate DX - May 2017 - Guardians - Wonder Woman DC Bombshells Figure with box

Wonder Woman DC Bombshells Figure - Value $30+ based on non-exclusive figure

This one is perfectly timed with today's Wonder Woman cinematic release!

Lootcrate DX - May 2017 - Guardians - Wonder Woman DC Bombshells Figure with back packaging

This 7-inch tall figure/statue comes with an exclusive metallic paint job - even on the base! I've received a few of the small figures in this line - but these statues are definitely a few steps above those - perfect for a deluxe box.

Lootcrate DX - May 2017 - Guardians - The Complete Marvel Cosmos Travel Guide - front cover

The Complete Marvel Cosmos Travel Guide - Value $12 on Amazon ($20 Retail)

The final item in the box is the only non-exclusive item of the bunch.

This guide to the Marvel Galactic universe is just pure fun. Here's a little excerpt from Amazon:

The ultimate guidebook to Earth, the Nine Realms, and other dimensions from Marvel Comics, as told by Peter Quill, Rocket, Groot, and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Ever since Super Heroes like Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy started stomping around planet Earth, we’ve had to open our horizons a little and embrace the wider reaches of space. If you’re thinking of journeying to one of the many new realms for a little R’n’R, then don’t leave home without Hidden Universe’s guide to the cosmos. Whether you’re looking to enjoy the divine splendor of Asgard or soak up the multicultural atmosphere of intergalactic waypoint Knowhere, this is the book for you. It even provides some tips on surviving excursions to Planet Moord and Chitauri Prime, if you like your vacations to be on the extreme side.

Lootcrate DX - May 2017 - Guardians - The Complete Marvel Cosmos Travel Guide - inside 4

I spent a ton of time browsing through all of this information, and it's a lot, and I'm nowhere near done with this 159-page book!

Verdict: As a fan of all of the comic franchises included this month - this is my favorite Loot Crate DX to-date. I'm really big on figures and statues - so getting two new statues is just all kinds of perfect for me. On top of that - the shirt, book, and pin are also just great - so I'm really satisfied with May's box!

Still have not got this crate. Last update I had from them was back on May 24th saying that they were going to run a ‘little’ late.

Still havent recieved my crate from may either. Get the regular loot crate on time but the dx is 3 payments behind

the book and the star lord figure are cool. I’m not a fan of destiny or the DC bombshells so this box overall was a disappointment. I will try to sell the Wonder Woman and see if that helps offset my cost.

I wish I had known the issues before presubscribing. They are always late, always! And I don’t mean a week or two. They are always a month or more behind. They do not send tracking numbers. It is just a nightmare! Yes their items are nice enough, but their customer service, billing, and shipping are horrible!

Adam

This has started to happen recently, as they seem to be test out new stuff, especially with their clothing items. It gets very annoying, but at least they still arrive, right? I’ve always gotten tracking numbers… does your email provider filter them into spam?

I’m finding the $100+ value claim a little sketchy. To get there you not only have to assume the book is $20, but the shirt $20 and the pin $10. That is not $50 worth of items. It feels like there should be something else in the box, especially given that price hike! The items are definitely nicer, but I hate when someone increases prices and it doesn’t feel like you get any benefit from that hike.

This was the last box of the previous cost, but I can see how it would seem a bit light on items. In the defense of the box though, looking online on Amazon, the WW figure is selling for $40.00, even the regular (on amazon) is like $25 ish. And I can definitely see an exclusive t-shirt for such a current game being $20. I feel like they just can’t win though, I would have loved to even just see some cool stickers or something. But then you have people who complain about “fillers”.

Carrie

Very true on the not-win deal. The $20 tag for the t-shirt I don’t have a problem with (and in fact, the black on black design might be one of my favorite I’ve seen in a box in ages). It’s the book and pin that’s more the stretch.

Davis

Wow, that Q-Fig is awesome!!! Looks like it also has a really good paint job! Awesome box this month!

So incredibly pleased with this box, I guessed the wonder woman figure from the spoiler clues, which I LOVE. I actually really wanted that one. The started one is really awesome, and I’m even excited about the book! I don’t know much about destiny, but looks like a nice shirt. Very happy.

I’m glad they’re giving them away and getting then to you faster than subscribers. I still haven’t received mine and it took customer service nearly 2 weeks to tell me that my shipping label has been created! Exactly why I cancelled my 3 other subscriptions with them. Terrible customer service and worse shipping.

Reply ButtonReply

Jenn

I cancelled all mine also. Not because the items weren’t nice in the dx but because half the time I either didn’t like a certain brand etc and I just can’t justify paying so much. I still have a bitter sweet taste over loot vault. I got everything but 3 things I really really wanted. Waited near 3 months had to write them to find out. Now they took my beans away.. so what’s the point?

I cancelled 5 subscriptions with them. 6 if you count the lootwear socks. They have huge internal issues. Google for employee reviews. I think they will fold this year. Bummer because I subbed from beginning and used to love them. People are still waiting on some stuff from January even. The emails saying the same excuse are getting old. “We love you!” No you don’t LC, breaking up with you.

Janie

I agree, I cancelled all my subs with Loot Crate (core crate, dx, and gaming) after a huge 3 month fiasco with the Loot Vault and I was still set to receive May’s Loot Gaming as my last crate and have yet to even get a shipping notice. They used to be great, I don’t know what’s happened to them.
