Mine Chest is a subscription service that delivers official and exclusive Minecraft items every other month! And it's now official, Mine Chest is my nine-year-old son's favorite subscription box! Effective January of this year, Mine Chest merged with Loot Crate, and they now offer a bi-monthly box filled with Mojang officially licensed Minecraft swag.

Mine Chest May/June 2017 from Loot Crate

This month's theme is PLAINS! No, it's not a bad picture, the front of every postcard they send is a super cool hologram! The themes every shipment seem to center around a different "biome" usually.

The info card included is a cryptic postcard with hints as to what everything inside the box is. Fun!

Exclusive Minecraft Tee - Value $15?

Possibly my favorite thing about our Mine Chest subscription is having my son explain to me what the tee shirt depicts. This month it's a mountain with grass growing on top. On the right side, there's also a sheep that's been shorn. If you shear a sheep without hurting it, you get two wools. If you hurt it, though, you only get one. There's a valuable lesson!

Mine Chest Exclusive Sticker - Value $1?

It's a plains wildflower! How authentic! The cool thing about these exclusive stickers is that they can be arranged to build whatever you like. Just like in Minecraft!

Stamp Block - Value $5?

This is another Mine Chest exclusive! This is grass, which is indeed an important part of any plain. My sons were kind of confused about the stamp in the first box, but now they have collected so many, they can use them to create cool scenes from Minecraft in the popular blocky format! The stamp is a feature of almost every box.

Minecraft Exclusive Pin - Value $5?

It's another Mine Chest exclusive! This is another feature of almost every box, a pin. My nine-year-old loves these. This is a horse. Finally something I guessed on the first try!

Grass - Value $3?

It's grass! Hooray? Often times, Mine Chest comes with portions of play scenes like this, so you can put them together and build Minecraft style scenes in real life. My son tends to be less excited about these type items, but I'm sure kids who are better at collecting and keeping these pieces would be really excited.

Minecraft Sheep Plush - Value $12.99

Awwww it's a baby sheep! My nine-year-old is not ashamed that he still collects plushies, and in fact is proud that they are now almost totally geek and gamer related. This little guy is a cutie, and a big win with my little cutie!

Verdict: This was an awesome package from Mine Chest! Honestly, I mainly gauge how cool a Mine Chest is by my son's reactions to the swag, and it never disappoints. He especially loved the tee and the plush this month! He also really likes sharing with his friends. I think the value of everything this month adds up to about $42, which is good for a $40 box. This is such a fun subscription for Minecraft fans!
