Pupjoy is a fully customizable subscription box for dogs. Treats are made in the U.S., often from smaller or artisan producers. You can select a box for one or multiple dogs, a box containing treats only, toys and accessories only or all three categories of items. Other choices include grain free, protein sensitive, and organic, toy preferences, and dog size.
Angus in the box, with some fresh scratches on his nose. (I believe they are courtesy of Madison.)
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
This is a review of Grande-sized Natural, $39 a month box, which includes grain free treats and “inquisitive"-durable toys (that is, designed for dogs who destroy soft toys). The size selected was “large,” which is 50-100 pounds. (My dog, Nyx, is a Rottweiler who weighs about 86 pounds right now.)

Pupjoy Rocket Dental Toy and Treat Dispenser – Value $16
This is made by Soda Pup so I know it is pretty tough. Nyx can’t have most treats but it is getting hot outside and Rotties don’t like heat, so one thing I have done is freeze water inside here and let her gnaw on it. She’s enjoyed that a lot.
American Dog Daisy May (large) – Value $13
This is a stuffing-free dog toy (which is a big plus for us). Nyx thought it was pretty fun. She set herself to chewing on it and did manage to damage it, but she is an especially determined chewer.
Scout & Zoe’s Applewood Bacon Dog Treats (6 oz) – Value $11
Unfortunately, Nyx can’t have pork, but my parents tell me that the Scout & Zoe’s treats I’ve sent on their way have been well-received, and I feel like this is a pretty good brand, overall. Plus they are grain free and made in the USA! (These will be good for most dogs with allergies. Nyx is a special case.)
Pupjoy Venison Jerky (3 oz) – Value $10?
This wasn’t in the Pupjoy Shop so I gave it the value of some steak jerky which looks otherwise similar. I kind of wish it was in the Pupjoy Shop because venison is one of the very few meats I feel safe giving to Nyx and there aren’t any extra ingredients like grains in here. So far she has had half a stick of this. She absolutely loved it and it doesn’t appear to have upset her digestion.
Sneaky also REALLY wanted the jerky. After I took this picture, she scratched me…
Einstein Pets Black & Whites Dog Treats (8 oz) – Value $11
These are vegetarian as well as free of wheat, corn, and soy. (They do have oats.) These are both sourced and made in the USA and are high in fiber, healthful fats (from chia), and calcium. This brand is new to me and it definitely does exist outside the Pupjoy subscription box so you can explore other options if you are so inclined.
Here are some photos of Nyx with one of the toys and also licking one of the pieces of jerky. She did eventually figure out what to do with the jerky (she doesn’t get treats very often due to her IBD).
Verdict: I calculated a value of $61 for the June Pupjoy box. That is a good deal for a box with all-natural, made-in-the-USA treats, especially one with the degree of customization Pupjoy has. Nyx thought the toys were great and could even have one of the treats this month, so this was a great box for us.
What do you think of the June 2017 Pupjoy? Do you subscribe to any dog boxes?
