The information card provides a short description of each tea, some fun facts about the history of iced tea, and information about their online community!
The postcard that was included was really cute! Perfect to send a little note to a fellow tea lover.
I love that each box comes with 10 loose leaf tea bags. This lets you try out loose leaf teas without the commitment of buying an infuser.
Willapa White Lavender (White Tea) - Value $3
I was excited to see a white tea in here because I’m a fan of white teas but never remember to pick any up when I'm at a store. I was a little nervous about the lavender because that can be such an overwhelming flavor in drinks. The floral scent was strong but not overpowering and the lavender flavor was mild. I really liked the white tea base with just a hint of rose and lavender. I added a little lemon to this and it became the perfect summer tea.
Himalayan Golden (Black Tea) - Value $4
I love black tea that’s strong without getting bitter and this fit the bill! This was a super smooth tea with the tiniest amount of sweetness. The information card mentioned that this was a great warm weather black tea and I definitely agree. It paired the strength of black tea with honey and apricot to make it just smooth enough for hotter days.
Almond Toffee Pu-erh (Pu-erh Tea) - Value $3?
This is the first time I’ve tried a pu-erh tea and I really liked it! While it was brewing, the smell of a fresh baked dessert got stronger and stronger. It also tasted exactly like a buttery almond pastry. Pu-erh tea is supposed to have an earthiness to it and there was definitely depth to these flavors. This had medium caffeine which made it a perfect lazy Sunday brunch tea for me!
Caramel Apple (Herbal Tea) - Value $3.50
I’ve tried a few caramel apple teas before and really enjoyed them. This definitely fit right into my expectations! The aroma is just like a sugary apple but the flavor isn’t overpowering in any way. You can definitely taste the green apple but the sweet caramel balances it out. If you were to add any creamer or sweetener to this, you would definitely enter dessert territory. I left mine plain and enjoyed the flavors on their own. I brewed this hot but I think this would make a really nice iced tea!
Verdict: This was a really nice sample selection from Amoda Tea! As an avid tea drinker, I have a few loose leaf tea infusers already but I love that they include the tea bags in this box. That makes it so easy for anyone to try out loose leaf tea without having to purchase new equipment. The value also feels good to me at $20 a month. They say each pouch should brew 3-5 cups. I tend to be heavy-handed with my tea leaves but even if I only get 3 cups out of every pouch that’s still $1.66 a cup. They also did a nice job of giving me a good variety. Each pouch was a different type of tea and the flavors ranged from traditional to seasonal to dessert. This was a nice introduction to some new flavors!
