Now, on to the items!

Skin and Co Roma Truffle Therapy Eye Concentrate - 5 ml Value $22

This eye concentrate cream is free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and mineral oils! It is designed to help minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and this sample is 1/3 the size of the full-size version!

As far as immediate results go, I like that there is no detectable scent in this cream, and it instantly made my skin feel more hydrated.

SHOW Beauty Premiere Finishing Spray - 50 ml Value $6.65

Fancy packaging! This hairspray is designed to give your hair hold while still being flexible.

This spray didn't make my hair too stiff - I could still run my fingers through it. And I appreciate that the spray is a super fine mist.

Glytone Exfoliating Body Wash - 1 oz Value $4.95

This body wash provides exfoliation through 8.8% glycolic acid - not the typical exfoliating scrub particles I normally use. I found the body wash to be refreshing, but at the price, probably not something I would buy in full size.

It gets rave reviews from people with Keratosis pilaris, though!

Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Eyeshadow – FULL SIZE! Value $22

Subscribers will receive one of the following colors:

  • Steamy- shimmery pink copper
  • Mermaid – shimmery sea foam
  • Forest – matte deep green

The color I received is Steamy.

The pressed powder formula is silky and high pigmented. As far as shimmers go, this one is more subdued. It catches the light more than a matte shade, but I'd consider it more of a satin finish.

Here it is swatched:

Vichy Mineral 89 - 5 ml $2.95

This moisturizer is so unique! It has a gel-like consistency, and it’s made with Mineralizing Water with Hyaluronic Acid to “fortify skin and make it more resistant to visible aging caused by pollution, stress to skin.”

The formula absorbed almost instantly, and my skin felt more hydrated as well. This seems like a perfect moisturizer for warmer weather!

Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask - 14 ml Value $4.85

This mask is a light, cooling gel. It’s cooling, refreshing, and everything you’d expect from a cucumber mask! It’s designed to help soothe and hydrate skin, and I felt it delivered. My skin felt smoother after I removed it. It wasn’t a game-changing mask for me, but I’ll use up the whole sample. (You can also store this in the fridge for extra cooling!)

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic - 5 ml? Value $27.50

(There is no size listed on the package, but 5 ml seems correct compared to other labeled samples.) This Vitamin C serum is designed to "lighten lines, firm skin and brighten your complexion."

I like that this is a daytime serum, and it absorbed easily into my skin and gave me instant hydration. The scent is a little weird though... Does it smell like hot dogs to anyone else? (I feel weird even asking that - but the scent is so strange!)

Erno Laszlo Light Controlling Lotion - 15 ml Value $4

This toner seems to be a cult classic! It gets rave reviews on Sephora and other sites. I'm not a fan of the scent (too strong), but it was gentle on my skin. Hopefully, this sample will last me a week or two and I can see some results!

Daily Concepts Facial Micro-Scrubber – Value $8

I love everything in the Daily Concepts line!

This face scrubber has a soft side on one side and a scrubby side on the other:

And the tag will fade when it is time to replace it! It also comes with a suction hook so you can hang it in your shower:

Verdict: This box has a value of about $102. That's a great value for a $24.95 box. This box seemed light to me at first since so many of the skincare samples are small, but everything is a multiple-use sample, and the brands are fantastic, so I'm still happy with this box.

This was my first subscription box from Beauty Fix. Way too many small samples for me. I will give this box at least one more month and if I end up with the tiny samples again then I will Unsub. I also subscribe to Ipsy, Glossybox and BoxyCharm. If I am not happy with next months I think I will try Allure.

Chris

I LOVE the monthly Allure box. That is my only beauty box now after a couple years of switching around. I do though purchase limited edition boxes when I know what is in them from other companies, glossy etc…. Allure had a few low months but they are back on track with high quality nice deluxe sized items.

I received this box today and looks likes some great new products for me to try! For the long time subscribers are the small sizes a normal thing with this box. I personally, would prefer less small samples and more full size products. I may hang for a month or two because its hard to judge by one box. I do love the fact that there was a full size eye shadow. I’ve never used this brand and hope for some staying power. I love masks and am also happy to try out the mask. My favorite boxes are ipsy and glossybox. And i am a new subscriber to Boxycharm.
Overall, i like the box….i just wish the samples were more of a deluxe sample size.

For a lot of the skincare samples, the samples in this box are pretty representative of the sizes that are typically included, but that’s because they include pricey, higher-end skincare brands. However, they usually do include one full-sized item, and a lot of the times it’s a skincare item. MSA always reviews this box, so maybe it’d be best to read some of the past reviews to get a good feel for the sizes of samples they include. 🙂

I’m completely neutral on this box. Actually want to try the body wash (especially) and mask, and there is enough to see if I’d want the full size. I’m doubtful on the mask. Don’t personally use EL or Vichy so those will swap, and also the hair spray cuz I’m picky about hair products. The eyeshadow is great. Scrubby thing I don’t need.

Finally, I can never get enough quality vit c so I’m thrilled it’s in the box. The small size is also great for travel, and I like to be especially protective of my skin during trips. I think this is a product you need to sample first because of the smell and how your skin tolerates vit c. I’ve used SkinCeutucals C on and off for years, and while I’m used to the smell there are times when my skin can’t take this formulation. I’ve also found that antioxidants aren’t in the instant results category for me. Like a previous reviewer mentioned, use them for years (assumingly part of a solid skin care regime) and your skin will thank you! Oh yeah, and lastly this way you are at least getting a genuine product.

For a sub with a primary focus on skincare. I’m really surprised about the inclusion of that little face scrubber that’s supposed to just hang out in your shower and collect acne-causing bacteria. I get grossed out just thinking about it. Seriously, Dermstore? That’s the best you can do?

Reply ButtonReply

Meghan

For a sub with a focus on skincare, I’m REALLY surprised they sent that gross little face scrubber. All I can think of is how it’s probably slam full of acne-causing bacteria. I get grossed out just thinking about it.

I hated the smell of the serum but I’ll use it up. Would never purchase full size though given the price. Smell is not worth it. Lol. I was also disappointed in the sample sizes but I’ll use everything. I used the face scrubber, but it dirtied quickly for me since I use makeup. I have a rough patch around my nose right now that just won’t go away but the scrubber has helped greatly. Only other downside is the holder it came with for the shower -for me it does not dry at ALL if I use the holder. Stopped hanging it up and it dries much better.

The stinky smell in the serum is supposedly the Ferulic. Also could be oxidation of the C, so it’s good to find a pic online of what a brand new serum looks like and compare, as yellowng/ambering indicates oxidation. Here’s a great post on vitamin C:
http://www.saritacoren.com/2017/05/08/vitamin-c/
I currently use the Marie Veronique, but Mad Hippie is a cheaper option that is supposed to be great.

I’ve been using SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic serum for about 10 years. You’d never guess my age and I give this serum all of the credit. That said. Yes, it smells. Sausage has always been my guess but maybe hot dogs, too!

WTF? I haven’t opened mine & started using it, but I’m terrified based on everyone’s comments.

My 1st box after an 8 month hiatus. Really like the eyeshadow in Mermaid, just don’t know if it will be used.

The lid on the highly perfumed EL toner came undone and was almost empty. Took me a bit to find out what smelled so strong, as everything had been doused. Would’ve thrown this out anyway, just a pain having to wash all the samples.

On the fence whether to cancel again as I wanted skin, hair, & body care, not makeup, which is why I liked this box. Haven’t used eyeshadow in a decade, but it’s pretty to look at, lol! Most samples were smaller than I remember, too. Sigh.

Reply ButtonReply

Deborah

I will gladly trade with you for your mermaid Jane Ireland Eye Shadow. The only things that I want to keep are the Skinceuticals C E Ferulic, facial scrubber and Skin and Co. Roma Eye Cream. I also have a account on the swap site.

Jex

Beauty Fix is an absolute sham. There is zero value in those free samples that often even say they’re free and not for sale. When you’re paying $26 per box it’s pathetic and feels like such a rip off. Every month I see it I’m glad I cancelled because you’re hardly getting your money’s worth with all their useless samples.

Reply ButtonReply

Renee

Interesting take. The small samples have value to me, as I get things I otherwise would not. I detest in store shopping, so this is how I get to try things out. 🙂 Just because something was free to Dermstore does not make it valueless. In any case, even if you discount the not for retail sale samples, the value of full size items always exceeds the cost. It sounds like this box and business model might not be a good fit for you and you have already quit, right?

BONNY ADAMS

Renee, I totally agree with you!

Gwen Breen

I do want to say that Ulta had gift sets on their website with many of these items. If you spent $75, you got a 19 piece gift set. One of the sets had the same Skin & Co Truffle Therapy Cream sample and Vichy Mineral 89 sample (along with 17 other items). I saw the offer the same day I got my box, so it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. The full size items were underwhelming this month too.

Gwen

Did anyone else receive a bonus SkinMedica Dermal Repair Cream in their box? It was tiny, but still a pleasant surprise!

Reply ButtonReply

BONNY ADAMS

I have subbed to this box for YEARS, way before it was BeautyFix . i thought my box seemed a little on the skimpy side. I have NEVER had a box with missing items, have always loved my boxes and totally love their CS reps. I really want to try the items that I was missing. I let my 10 year old daughter read the card…then we throw the card and box away. Usually she is pretty good with noticing an ” off” box or bag.

Reply ButtonReply

Christine

For those that just want another 5 ml Vichy, they are giving them away for free on the Vichy website for consumers who want to try the product (as it is relatively new). No shipping charges.

Reply ButtonReply

Tamara

Is it free with purchase? I went to the site and couldn’t find the offer…?

Reply ButtonReply

Veronica

I’m fine with this box. The value is still more than i paid. Only complaint is i got that ugly deep green eye shadow. I will pawn it off on someone else in my family.

Reply ButtonReply

Whitney

I am so upset with this box! The toner was empty cuz it spilled over everything in this box making it a mess. I emailed the company but they still haven’t gotten back to me. Really bad customer service, I might cancel.

Reply ButtonReply

Cat

Call! Their CS is amazing!!

Reply ButtonReply

Katy

They are very nice and helpful on the phone. I would call them and actually talk to a service representative. There aren’t many companies that have that option.

Reply ButtonReply

Tara

Derm store has the best customer service in the industry. How long ago did you email them? I would do an online chat.

Reply ButtonReply

Gwen

I’ve had good experiences up until I tried to cancel for this month’s box (the ended up re-subscribing). After not getting a response to two of my emails, I called 3 times and waited on hold for 20-45 minutes, tried the chat 3 times and same thing. I even sent a Facebook message. I finally got someone to cancel after I had to file a report with the BBB (extreme, I know, but I didn’t want my card charged). It was a headache that lasted 2 weeks. I received a Facebook response last week saying they had limited reps due to current promotions, but it was a headache.

I’ve always had phenomenal service with them before this. Maybe they are cutting back on internal resources?

Whitney

I sent the email 6 days ago, and yes there was a weekend in there but the automatic email said they would get back to me within 48hrs. And they have yet to respond. I will try and call them though and see how that goes.

Veronica

They do have excellent Customer service.

Lindsay

My box was missing the Skin & Co Truffle Therapy, the SkinCeuticals, and the Jane Iredale eye shadow. I contacted Dermstore last week — no response.

Kind of feel ripped off by this box — I’ve always been thrilled in the past but I feel like the samples are getting smaller and smaller. The scrubby pad kind of seems like a cop out. I’ve never been one to complain about the $5 and $10 boxes, but spending $25 and getting samples, plus missing items, is kind of making me rethink my subscription.

Reply ButtonReply

Renee

They will send you a new box, and make you happy. This box is always so worth what you pay. I actually ordered a second one after the spoilers, even though I don’t wear eye shadow, to get more of the Skinceuticals and Roma & Co.

Reply ButtonReply

Cat

If you call they will no questions send you another box. They have excellent CS.

I have old, dry hands and since so many of the samples are small I use them on the back of my hands at night. I do the same with all small skin samples I get. I have a good nightime face regimen but other than moisturizer I haven’t done much for my hands. I figure if I come across a product that works well on my hands I might by the full size. My skin isn’t overly sensitive, and the glycolic body wash didn’t burn my skin. I thought it smelled like motel soap though.

Reply ButtonReply

Veronica

I do the same thing , if i can’t use it on my face . I use it on the backs of my hands. You know my hands look 24 instead of 44. I also use it on my chest so i don’t get lines between my breast. I will really use it everywhere except my face. Keeps the body looking good.

I’m 60. My generation spent too much time in the sun with suntan lotion/oil. No sunscreen. The darker the tan the better. I have fair complexion and I got a lot of sunburns trying to get tan. If only I had known…

Melissa W.

I loved everything in my BeautyFix box, although I was a bit sad to get the green eyeshadow. I like neutral colors for my skin tone.. oh well..

Reply ButtonReply

Svetlana7e

I got the green eye shadow too, so disappointed. I was going to put it for swap but when I open it has a little scratch, so now I cannot even put it for swap 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Judy

Use as eyeliner in the fall with your brown/natural shades! It’ll be pretty! I never use eyeliner as I just use shadow as eyeliner everyday. I feel it’s a softer more natural look than eyeliner. 🙂

Siren

I also got the green shade – forest – but I’m pleased by that. I don’t believe I have many shades like that. I have very few, if any, green shadows so it will be fun to try.

Nicole

I received the steamy shade that Liz did and was hoping for the green 🙁 oh well! At least the quality is really nice

Reply ButtonReply

Christine

Oh yes, the Skinceuticals Vitamin C and Ferulic smells intensely like hot dogs. I could never get over the smell and ended up letting an entire full-size bottle of it oxidize.

I have since moved onto Drunk Elephant’s Vitamin C which smells only faintly of hot dogs and is far less intense.

Reply ButtonReply

Dawnmarie

the skinceuticals smells like burnt hair to me. its VERY off putting and I am tempted to just toss it as I just cannot get past that. definitely not something I would recommend or be tempted to try out other products from the line

Reply ButtonReply

Siren

After I read Liz’s comment about the hot dog smell, I got it out and tried some on the back of my hand. As a very long-time vegetarian 29 years and counting, I am SO GLAD I did not get the hot dog vibe, it just smelled kind of chemical like. Of course, once I apply it on my face and near my nose, it might smell a lot stronger but I will hope for the best. It did leave an interesting texture on my hand, and after a few minutes, it felt very smooth, with no smell noted.

Reply ButtonReply

monah

You can also add it to you regular moisturizer. That might help tone down any unpleasant scent.

Laura R

OMG! No…. don’t throw out. A regular size bottle is $165.00!!! Good smell doesn’t constitute that it works well.

Reply ButtonReply

Rosemary

Or swap it! I would love some more of this stinky stuff.

Shelby

I just did a quick review of the BF reviews Liz did from last August until this box. The boxes in August, September and October were a lot like this box overall – mostly deluxe samples, a beauty tool, full size items were not showstopper brands or higher end products.

From November through March, we had a run of fantastic boxes with more full sized items. Now we are back to less spectacular boxes.

I was perfectly happy with my first few BF boxes, which looked a lot like this box. Upon reflection, I’m gonna stick with BF and see how the next several months go.

Reply ButtonReply

vanessa

I’m canceling based on the spoilers for next month. BF heard from me loud & clear about my disappointment.

There are far too many other subs in the game to waste $25 on per month (even if they’ve been previously out of the park boxes.)

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

I haven’t seen any spoilers for August 2017… would love to know what will be in my next box.

Carolann

I agree with some of the other posters here that the small samples are a little disappointing to me. While the value of the box may be well above the cost, there’s something that irks me about little bottles and tubes rolling around inside this huge box. And the nature of a lot of these skincare products, you really need to use them several times to know if they’re working. I’d much prefer fewer skincare items in deluxe sample size than so many microsamples. This used to be my favorite box but lately, I’ve been underwhelmed.

Reply ButtonReply

Alisa

Agree! I’d rather have less fiddly samples, bigger sizes. I’ve had some good finds with this subscripton, and the value is there, but I might switch to a different box.

Reply ButtonReply

Barbie

Agree. The samples were great, but really small. The packaging on the hairspray and eye shadow are pretty.

Easy to cancel this one. I’m very happy I didn’t pay the full $24.95 for it.

Reply ButtonReply

Samantha

The smell of that serum is normal. I used a product by Dr Weil by Origins years ago that had something to do with mushrooms? Anyway-same smell! It’s totally gross but it goes away pretty quickly. I’ve been using this vitamin c serum for the past week since I’ve gotten the box and it’s made my skin look great. Smells stinky though!

Reply ButtonReply

Jenny

Not impressed with this box lately. Samples getting smaller and smaller every time. I’m gone for the goodness sake of my storage and my wallet

Reply ButtonReply

Barb

I loved this box. With the $10 coupon, it was only $15 for me. Each one of the eye shadow, truffle eye cream, or CE Feralic more than covered the cost of the box. They sent 9 items. I think that’s great for a box with quality products that I want to try. My solution to small samples is to buy multiple boxes, keep the parts I want, and gift the rest. That way, I got all three shadow colors. Btw, I have read on many sites about the funky smell of the CE Feralic. Some people think it smells fishy. I didn’t like the smell or the feel of it, but it has such good reviews that I’m going to stick it out. I have had good luck with the Dermstore Customer service site. They don’t complain when some months I get multiples boxes and some months I cut down to one.

Reply ButtonReply

Kathy

You got lucky to get all three colors. I also purchase multiple boxes and all were green eyeshadow. It’s one of my favorite cosmetic companies so I really don’t mind, but at least one other color would have been nice.

Reply ButtonReply

monah

How can you know for sure that you will get all three colors of the eye shadow just because you have three subscriptions? I think maybe you just got lucky since I don’t think they personalize the boxes.

Reply ButtonReply

Barb

I couldn’t know for sure and I had more than three subscriptions but I did get all three colors. I’ve given the extras to friends.
