Bulu Box has changed their information cards again, as well as the boxes. There was also some product literature. And a coupon for a free pint of Halo Top ice cream. These are making the rounds of the fitness subscription boxes lately but I am not sad about that at all. I think that stuff is great and I’m eating a fair amount of it since I had oral surgery last week and am stuck with soft foods for now.
Banza Chickpea Pasta Mac and Cheese Deluxe (7.7 oz) – Value $4.17 (buy 6 boxes for $25)
I’ve had Banza pasta (specifically one of their macaroni and cheese products) before thanks to Love with Food. And boxed macaroni and cheese is like my favorite thing ever. This pasta is made from chickpeas and the texture is a little different from regular pasta so you may want to have a drink handy. Last time I ate this, I felt like I just needed to drink a bit more than usual. It’s probably not my first choice of pastas, but especially if you need to eat gluten free, it’s worth a try
Wally’s Natural Organic Body Oil (0.017 fl oz) – Value $0.10 (buy 2 fl oz for $11.99)
Such a tiny container! It is suggested you use this on scars and stretch marks so that is what I am doing (well, on a scar – I don’t have stretch marks). It is too soon to tell if it works although it did absorb into my skin. Although probably the scar I chose is too big for a product like this to be effective (back when I still lived in Missouri, more than 10 years ago, I had to get 11 stitches in my arm, so I have a really long, wide scar there).
Swish 4 Energy (12 mL) – Value $1.83 (buy 6 bottles for $10.99)
I’ve tried this before, from Fit Snack Box (I think?). It is meant to be swished around and spit out. I think I would prefer something drinkable. If you are swishing, you have to hang out in the bathroom or something so you can spit this out. (Although I will not be doing any swishing for awhile thanks to my gum grafts.) When I had this last time, I didn’t notice a huge energy boost, but your mileage may vary.
Dr. Price’s Electrolyte Mix in Lemon Lime, Blueberry Pomegranate, and Raspberry – Value $2.10 (buy 30 packets for $21)
Electrolytes are always good, especially in hot weather. I think I’ve gotten at least one of these flavors from Bulu Box before. I find that I prefer the berry flavors to the citrus, at least for this product. But that is purely a matter of personal taste. I’m glad they gave us several to test out. This is low in calories and has a lot of trace minerals, as well.
Xylichew Spearmint (10 pieces) – Value $1.67 (buy 60 pieces for $9.99)
Bulu Box sent out a lot of Xylichew last year. I will have to look at this longingly until I am able to chew food again. But since I have had it before, I know that I like it. I don’t find that it has an artificial sweetener aftertaste (it is actually sweetened with xylitol from birch) and the flavor lasts a decent amount of time.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $9.87 for the July Bulu Box. I did not count the value of the Halo Top coupon, although if you did, a pint of that is $5.99. (You can get Halo Top at Target and Whole Foods and I think several grocery chains as well, so it is pretty widely available. I strongly recommend the Salted Caramel flavor.) At any rate, I only paid $5 for the box with a coupon so I did get my money’s worth this month (plus everything was vegetarian this time!). There wasn’t much that was new to me, but I think only the electrolytes are specifically Bulu Box repeats and everything else I’ve probably only seen because I get more subscription boxes than the average person! I thought the mix of products was nice although I would prefer if the oil had been in a slightly larger container.
I’d strongly recommend using our MYSUB599 coupon code when you subscribe and choosing either the regular or the weight loss box, but not both since there is a lot of product repetition between the two. Also, don’t forget to review your items for points to spend on merchandise in the Bulu Box shop.
